“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
1. Bendice, alma mía, a Jehová, Y bendiga todo mi ser su santo nombre.
3. Él es quien perdona todas tus iniquidades, El que sana todas tus dolencias;
4. El que rescata del hoyo tu vida, El que te corona de favores y misericordias;
13. Como el padre se compadece de los hijos, Se compadece Jehová de los que le temen.
15. El hombre, como la hierba son sus días; Florece como la flor del campo.

8 Y Esteban, lleno de gracia y de poder, hacía grandes prodigios y señales entre el pueblo.
9 Entonces se levantaron unos de la sinagoga,
10 Pero no podían resistir a la sabiduría y al Espíritu con que hablaba.
11 Entonces sobornaron a unos para que dijesen que le habían oído hablar palabras blasfemas contra Moisés y contra Dios.
12 Y soliviantaron al pueblo, a los ancianos y a los escribas; y arremetiendo, le arrebataron, y le trajeron al concilio,
13 Y pusieron testigos falsos,
8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue,
10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
13 And set up false witnesses,

48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
57 Then they cried out with a loud voice,
59 And they stoned Stephen,
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

2 Y hombres piadosos llevaron a enterrar a Esteban, e hicieron gran llanto sobre él.

2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

2 … pidió cartas para las sinagogas de Damasco, a fin de que si hallase algunos hombres o mujeres de este Camino, los trajese presos a Jerusalén.
3 Mas yendo por el camino, aconteció que al llegar cerca de Damasco, repentinamente le rodeó un resplandor de luz del cielo;
4 y cayendo en tierra, oyó una voz que le decía: Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues?
5 Él dijo: ¿Quién eres, Señor? Y le dijo: Yo soy Jesús, a quien tú persigues;
6 Él, temblando y temeroso, dijo: Señor, ¿qué quieres que yo haga? Y el Señor le dijo: Levántate y entra en la ciudad, y se te dirá lo que debes hacer.
8 Entonces Saulo se levantó de tierra, y abriendo los ojos, no veía a nadie; así que, llevándole por la mano, le metieron en Damasco,
10 Había entonces en Damasco un discípulo llamado Ananías, a quien el Señor dijo en visión: Ananías.
11 Levántate, y ve a la calle que se llama Derecha, y busca en casa de Judas a uno llamado Saulo, de Tarso; porque he aquí, él ora,
17 Fue entonces Ananías y entró en la casa, y poniendo sobre él las manos, dijo: Hermano Saulo, el Señor Jesús, que se te apareció en el camino por donde venías, me ha enviado para que recibas la vista y seas lleno del Espíritu Santo.
18 Y al momento le cayeron de los ojos como escamas, y recibió al instante la vista; y levantándose, fue bautizado.
20 En seguida predicaba a Cristo en las sinagogas, diciendo que este era el Hijo de Dios.
1 And Saul,
2 … desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:
6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
8 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias.
11 Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,
17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
2 Mas los judíos que no creían excitaron y corrompieron los ánimos de los gentiles contra los hermanos.
19 Entonces vinieron unos judíos de Antioquía y de Iconio, que persuadieron a la multitud, y habiendo apedreado a Pablo, le arrastraron fuera de la ciudad, pensando que estaba muerto.
20 Pero rodeándole los discípulos, se levantó y entró en la ciudad; y al día siguiente salió con Bernabé para Derbe.
2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.
19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
7 El primer día de la semana, reunidos los discípulos para partir el pan, Pablo les enseñaba, habiendo de salir al día siguiente; y alargó el discurso hasta la medianoche.
8 Y había muchas lámparas en el aposento alto donde estaban reunidos;
9 y un joven llamado Eutico, que estaba sentado en la ventana, rendido de un sueño profundo, por cuanto Pablo disertaba largamente, vencido del sueño cayó del tercer piso abajo, y fue levantado muerto.
10 Entonces descendió Pablo y se echó sobre él, y abrazándole, dijo: No os alarméis, pues está vivo.
11 Después de haber subido, y partido el pan y comido, habló largamente hasta el alba; y así salió.
12 Y llevaron al joven vivo, y fueron grandemente consolados.
7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.
9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.
2 Porque la ley del Espíritu de vida en Cristo Jesús me ha librado de la ley del pecado y de la muerte.
9 … vosotros no vivís según la carne, sino según el Espíritu, si es que el Espíritu de Dios mora en vosotros.
12 Así que, hermanos, deudores somos,
14 Porque todos los que son guiados por el Espíritu de Dios, estos son hijos de Dios.
16 El Espíritu mismo da testimonio a nuestro espíritu, de que somos hijos de Dios.
17 Y si hijos, también herederos; herederos de Dios y coherederos con Cristo,
38 Por lo cual estoy seguro de que ni la muerte, ni la vida, ni ángeles, ni principados, ni potestades, ni lo presente, ni lo por venir,

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
9 … ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors,
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
DIOS: Principio, Vida, Verdad, Amor, Alma, Espíritu, Mente, divinos.
HOMBRE: La idea espiritual de Dios, individual, perfecta, eterna.
God: Divine Principle, Life, Truth, Love, Soul, Spirit, Mind.
Man: God's spiritual idea, individual, perfect, eternal.
Padre-Madre es el nombre de la Deidad que indica Su tierna relación con Su creación espiritual. Como el apóstol lo expresó en palabras de un poeta clásico que citó en aprobación: "Porque linaje Suyo somos".
Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation. As the apostle expressed it in words which he quoted with approbation from a classic poet: "For we are also His offspring."
El universo del Espíritu está poblado de seres espirituales, y su gobierno es la Ciencia divina. El hombre es vástago, no de las más bajas, sino de las más altas cualidades de la Mente. El hombre comprende la existencia espiritual en la proporción en que aumenta sus tesoros de Verdad y Amor. Los mortales deben gravitar hacia Dios, espiritualizando sus afectos y propósitos —deben acercarse a interpretaciones más amplias del ser y obtener un concepto más acertado del infinito— a fin de poder despojarse del pecado y la mortalidad.
Ese concepto científico del ser, que abandona la materia por el Espíritu, de ningún modo sugiere la absorción del hombre en la Deidad y la pérdida de su identidad, sino que confiere al hombre una individualidad más amplia, una esfera de pensamiento y acción más extensa, un amor más expansivo, una paz más elevada y más permanente.
The universe of Spirit is peopled with spiritual beings, and its government is divine Science. Man is the offspring, not of the lowest, but of the highest qualities of Mind. Man understands spiritual existence in proportion as his treasures of Truth and Love are enlarged. Mortals must gravitate Godward, their affections and aims grow spiritual, — they must near the broader interpretations of being, and gain some proper sense of the infinite, — in order that sin and mortality may be put off.
This scientific sense of being, forsaking matter for Spirit, by no means suggests man's absorption into Deity and the loss of his identity, but confers upon man enlarged individuality, a wider sphere of thought and action, a more expansive love, a higher and more permanent peace.
La historia está llena de relatos de sufrimiento. "La sangre de los mártires es la simiente de la Iglesia". Los mortales tratan en vano de matar a la Verdad con la espada o en la hoguera, mas el error cae solamente ante la espada del Espíritu. Los mártires son los eslabones humanos que enlazan una etapa con otra en la historia de la religión. Son los luminares de la tierra, que sirven para depurar y enrarecer la atmósfera del sentido material e infundir a la humanidad ideales más puros.
History is full of records of suffering. "The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church." Mortals try in vain to slay Truth with the steel or the stake, but error falls only before the sword of Spirit. Martyrs are the human links which connect one stage with another in the history of religion. They are earth's luminaries, which serve to cleanse and rarefy the atmosphere of material sense and to permeate humanity with purer ideals.
Los mártires cristianos fueron profetas de la Ciencia Cristiana. Gracias al poder enaltecedor y consagrante de la Verdad divina, lograron una victoria sobre los sentidos corporales, una victoria que sólo la Ciencia puede explicar.
The Christian martyrs were prophets of Christian Science. Through the uplifting and consecrating power of divine Truth, they obtained a victory over the corporeal senses, a victory which Science alone can explain.
Saulo de Tarso percibió el camino —el Cristo o la Verdad — sólo cuando su sentido incierto acerca de lo que era justo se sometió a un sentido espiritual, que es siempre justo. Entonces se transformó. Su pensamiento adoptó un punto de vista más noble, y su vida se espiritualizó más. Comprendió el mal que había hecho en perseguir a los cristianos, cuya religión no había comprendido, y en humildad tomó el nuevo nombre de Pablo. Percibió por primera vez la idea verdadera del Amor y aprendió una lección en la Ciencia divina.
Saul of Tarsus beheld the way — the Christ, or Truth — only when his uncertain sense of right yielded to a spiritual sense, which is always right. Then the man was changed. Thought assumed a nobler outlook, and his life became more spiritual. He learned the wrong that he had done in persecuting Christians, whose religion he had not understood, and in humility he took the new name of Paul. He beheld for the first time the true idea of Love, and learned a lesson in divine Science.
Nuestras teorías humanas y materiales están desprovistas de Ciencia. La verdadera comprensión de Dios es espiritual. Arrebata la victoria al sepulcro. Destruye la falsa evidencia que engaña al pensamiento y que lo dirige hacia otros dioses, u otros llamados poderes, tales como la materia, la enfermedad, el pecado y la muerte, superiores o contrarios al único Espíritu.
La Verdad, discernida espiritualmente, es científicamente comprendida. Echa fuera al error y sana a los enfermos.
El tener un solo Dios, una sola Mente, desarrolla el poder que sana a los enfermos, y cumple estas palabras de las Escrituras: "Yo soy Jehová tu Sanador", y: "Yo he hallado rescate".
Our material human theories are destitute of Science. The true understanding of God is spiritual. It robs the grave of victory. It destroys the false evidence that misleads thought and points to other gods, or other so-called powers, such as matter, disease, sin, and death, superior or contrary to the one Spirit.
Truth, spiritually discerned, is scientifically understood. It casts out error and heals the sick.
Having one God, one Mind, unfolds the power that heals the sick, and fulfils these sayings of Scripture, "I am the Lord that healeth thee," and "I have found a ransom."
Cual es su pensamiento tal es el hombre. Lo único que siente, actúa o impide la acción es la mente. Por ignorar eso, o por evadir la responsabilidad implícita, hacemos el esfuerzo sanativo del lado equivocado, y así perdemos el dominio consciente sobre el cuerpo.
As a man thinketh, so is he. Mind is all that feels, acts, or impedes action. Ignorant of this, or shrinking from its implied responsibility, the healing effort is made on the wrong side, and thus the conscious control over the body is lost.
Pablo dice en su epístola a los romanos: "Los designios de la carne son enemistad contra Dios; porque no se sujetan a la ley de Dios, ni tampoco pueden; y los que viven según la carne no pueden agradar a Dios. Mas vosotros no vivís según la carne, sino según el Espíritu, si es que el espíritu de Dios mora en vosotros".
Paul says in his epistle to the Romans: "The carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the spirit of God dwell in you."
Perdemos de vista la semejanza de Dios debido al pecado, que oscurece al sentido espiritual de la Verdad; y percibimos esa semejanza solo cuando vencemos al pecado y demostramos la herencia del hombre, la libertad de los hijos de Dios.
The likeness of God we lose sight of through sin, which beclouds the spiritual sense of Truth; and we realize this likeness only when we subdue sin and prove man's heritage, the liberty of the sons of God.
El hombre no es una morada material para el Alma; es espiritual él mismo. El Alma, siendo Espíritu, no se manifiesta en nada que sea imperfecto o material.
Man is not a material habitation for Soul; he is himself spiritual. Soul, being Spirit, is seen in nothing imperfect nor material.
El cuerpo parece actuar por sí mismo sólo porque la mente mortal nada sabe respecto de sí misma, de sus propias acciones y sus resultados —no sabe que la causa predisponente, remota y ocasional de todos los efectos malos es una ley de la llamada mente mortal y no de la materia. La Mente tiene dominio sobre los sentidos corporales y puede vencer a la enfermedad, al pecado y a la muerte. Ejerced esa autoridad otorgada por Dios. Tomad posesión de vuestro cuerpo y regid sus sensaciones y funciones. Levantaos en la fuerza del Espíritu para resistir todo lo que sea desemejante al bien. Dios ha hecho al hombre capaz de eso, y nada puede invalidar la capacidad y el poder divinamente otorgados al hombre.
The body seems to be self-acting, only because mortal mind is ignorant of itself, of its own actions, and of their results, — ignorant that the predisposing, remote, and exciting cause of all bad effects is a law of so-called mortal mind, not of matter. Mind is the master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death. Exercise this God-given authority. Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man.
Lo infinito nunca comenzó, ni jamás terminará. La Mente y sus formaciones jamás pueden ser aniquiladas. El hombre no es un péndulo, oscilando entre el mal y el bien, el gozo y el pesar, la enfermedad y la salud, la vida y la muerte. La Vida y sus facultades no se miden con calendarios. Lo perfecto y lo inmortal son la semejanza eterna de su Hacedor. El hombre no es de ningún modo un germen material que surge de lo imperfecto y se esfuerza por alcanzar el Espíritu, más alto que su origen. El arroyo no se eleva más alto que su fuente.
El medir la vida por años solares roba a la juventud y afea a la vejez. El sol radiante de la virtud y la Verdad coexiste con el ser. El hombre es su eterno mediodía, jamás oscurecido por un sol declinante. A medida que se desvanece lo físico y material, es decir, el concepto transitorio de belleza, debiera alborear el fulgor del Espíritu sobre el ánimo extasiado, con glorias luminosas e imperecederas.
The infinite never began nor will it ever end. Mind and its formations can never be annihilated. Man is not a pendulum, swinging between evil and good, joy and sorrow, sickness and health, life and death. Life and its faculties are not measured by calendars. The perfect and immortal are the eternal likeness of their Maker. Man is by no means a material germ rising from the imperfect and endeavoring to reach Spirit above his origin. The stream rises no higher than its source.
The measurement of life by solar years robs youth and gives ugliness to age. The radiant sun of virtue and truth coexists with being. Manhood is its eternal noon, undimmed by a declining sun. As the physical and material, the transient sense of beauty fades, the radiance of Spirit should dawn upon the enraptured sense with bright and imperishable glories.
Dios modela todas las cosas conforme a Su semejanza. La Vida se refleja en existencia, la Verdad en veracidad, Dios en bondad, las cuales imparten la paz y permanencia que les son propias.
El hombre, hecho a Su semejanza, posee y refleja el señorío de Dios sobre toda la tierra. El hombre y la mujer, coexistentes y eternos con Dios, reflejan eternamente, en calidad glorificada, al infinito Padre-Madre Dios.
God fashions all things, after His own likeness. Life is reflected in existence, Truth in truthfulness, God in goodness, which impart their own peace and permanence.
Man, made in His likeness, possesses and reflects God's dominion over all the earth. Man and woman as coexistent and eternal with God forever reflect, in glorified quality, the infinite Father-Mother God.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
