35 Recorría Jesús todas las ciudades y aldeas, enseñando en las sinagogas de ellos, y predicando el evangelio del reino, y sanando toda enfermedad y toda dolencia en el pueblo.
35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
1 Entonces llamando a sus doce discípulos, les dio autoridad sobre los espíritus inmundos, para que los echasen fuera, y para sanar toda enfermedad y toda dolencia.
5 A estos doce envió Jesús, y les dio instrucciones, diciendo:
8 Sanad enfermos, limpiad leprosos, resucitad muertos, echad fuera demonios; de gracia recibisteis, dad de gracia.
1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying,
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

34 diciendo: Déjanos; ¿qué tienes con nosotros, Jesús nazareno? ¿Has venido para destruirnos? Yo te conozco quién eres, el Santo de Dios.
35 Y Jesús le reprendió, diciendo: Cállate, y sal de él. Entonces el demonio, derribándole en medio de ellos, salió de él, y no le hizo daño alguno.
36 Y estaban todos maravillados, y hablaban unos a otros, diciendo: ¿Qué palabra es esta, que con autoridad y poder manda a los espíritus inmundos, y salen?
37 Y su fama se difundía por todos los lugares de los contornos.
38 Entonces Jesús se levantó y salió de la sinagoga, y entró en casa de Simón. La suegra de Simón tenía una gran fiebre; y le rogaron por ella.
39 E inclinándose hacia ella, reprendió a la fiebre; y la fiebre la dejó, y levantándose ella al instante, les servía.
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,
34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.
38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
12 Sucedió que estando él en una de las ciudades, se presentó un hombre lleno de lepra, el cual, viendo a Jesús, se postró con el rostro en tierra y le rogó, diciendo: Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme.
13 Entonces, extendiendo él la mano, le tocó, diciendo: Quiero; sé limpio. Y al instante la lepra se fue de él.
12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
1 Habiendo entrado Jesús en Jericó, iba pasando por la ciudad.
2 Y sucedió que un varón llamado Zaqueo, que era jefe de los publicanos, y rico,
3 procuraba ver quién era Jesús; pero no podía a causa de la multitud, pues era pequeño de estatura.
4 Y corriendo delante, subió a un árbol sicómoro para verle; porque había de pasar por allí.
5 Cuando Jesús llegó a aquel lugar, mirando hacia arriba, le vio, y le dijo: Zaqueo, date prisa, desciende, porque hoy es necesario que pose yo en tu casa.
6 Entonces él descendió aprisa, y le recibió gozoso.
7 Al ver esto, todos murmuraban, diciendo que había entrado a posar con un hombre pecador.
8 Entonces Zaqueo, puesto en pie, dijo al Señor: He aquí, Señor, la mitad de mis bienes doy a los pobres; y si en algo he defraudado a alguno, se lo devuelvo cuadruplicado.
9 Jesús le dijo: Hoy ha venido la salvación a esta casa; por cuanto él también es hijo de Abraham.
10 Porque el Hijo del Hombre vino a buscar y a salvar lo que se había perdido.
1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchæus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchæus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
8 And Zacchæus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
1 Después de estas cosas, designó el Señor también a otros setenta, a quienes envió de dos en dos delante de él a toda ciudad y lugar adonde él había de ir.
2 Y les decía: La mies a la verdad es mucha, mas los obreros pocos; por tanto, rogad al Señor de la mies que envíe obreros a su mies.
17 Volvieron los setenta con gozo, diciendo: Señor, aun los demonios se nos sujetan en tu nombre.
18 Y les dijo: Yo veía a Satanás caer del cielo como un rayo.
19 He aquí os doy potestad de hollar serpientes y escorpiones, y sobre toda fuerza del enemigo, y nada os dañará.
20 Pero no os regocijéis de que los espíritus se os sujetan, sino regocijaos de que vuestros nombres están escritos en los cielos.
21 En aquella misma hora Jesús se regocijó en el Espíritu, y dijo: Yo te alabo, oh Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque escondiste estas cosas de los sabios y entendidos, y las has revelado a los niños. Sí, Padre, porque así te agradó.
1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
16 Pero los once discípulos se fueron a Galilea, al monte donde Jesús les había ordenado.
17 Y cuando le vieron, le adoraron; pero algunos dudaban.
18 Y Jesús se acercó y les habló diciendo: Toda potestad me es dada en el cielo y en la tierra.
19 Por tanto, id, y haced discípulos a todas las naciones, bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo;
20 enseñándoles que guarden todas las cosas que os he mandado; y he aquí yo estoy con vosotros todos los días, hasta el fin del mundo. Amén.
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Enteramente separada de la creencia y del sueño de la existencia material, está la Vida divina, que revela la comprensión espiritual y la consciencia del señorío que el hombre tiene sobre toda la tierra. Esa comprensión echa fuera el error y sana a los enfermos, y con ella podéis hablar "como quien tiene autoridad."
Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth. This understanding casts out error and heals the sick, and with it you can speak "as one having authority."
Al igual que el gran Modelo, el sanador debiera hablar a la enfermedad como quien tiene autoridad sobre ella, dejando que el Alma domine los falsos testimonios de los sentidos corporales y afirme sus reivindicaciones sobre la mortalidad y la enfermedad.
Like the great Exemplar, the healer should speak to disease as one having authority over it, leaving Soul to master the false evidences of the corporeal senses and to assert its claims over mortality and disease.
Jesús trabajó por medio del Espíritu único. Dijo: "Mi Padre hasta ahora trabaja, y yo trabajo". Por lo que se puede deducir de los Evangelios, jamás describía la enfermedad, sino que la sanaba.
Jesus did his own work by the one Spirit. He said: "My Father worketh hitherto, and I work." He never described disease, so far as can be learned from the Gospels, but he healed disease.
Las doctrinas creadas por los hombres están decayendo. No se han fortalecido en tiempos de tribulación. Desprovistas del poder de Cristo, ¿cómo pueden demostrar las doctrinas de Cristo o los milagros de la gracia divina? Negar la posibilidad de la curación cristiana roba al cristianismo el elemento mismo que le dio fuerza divina y su éxito asombroso y sin igual en el siglo primero.
Hay autoridad divina para creer en la superioridad del poder espiritual sobre la resistencia material.
Man-made doctrines are waning. They have not waxed strong in times of trouble. Devoid of the Christ-power, how can they illustrate the doctrines of Christ or the miracles of grace? Denial of the possibility of Christian healing robs Christianity of the very element, which gave it divine force and its astonishing and unequalled success in the first century.
There is divine authority for believing in the superiority of spiritual power over material resistance.
Las creencias de sufrimiento, pecado y muerte son irreales. Cuando la Ciencia divina se comprenda universalmente, no tendrán poder sobre el hombre, porque el hombre es inmortal y vive por autoridad divina.
Suffering, sinning, dying beliefs are unreal. When divine Science is universally understood, they will have no power over man, for man is immortal and lives by divine authority.
Aquí presento a mis lectores una alegoría ilustrativa de la ley de la Mente divina y de las supuestas leyes de la materia e higiene, una alegoría en que el alegato de la Ciencia Cristiana sana al enfermo.
Supongamos que un caso mental estuviese sujeto a juicio, tal como se juzgan los casos ante un tribunal. Un hombre es acusado de haber cometido el delito de mal de hígado. El paciente se siente enfermo, se pone a rumiar, y el juicio comienza. El Sentido Personal es el demandante. El Hombre Mortal es el acusado. La Creencia Falsa es el abogado del Sentido Personal. Las Mentes Mortales, la Materia Médica, la Anatomía, la Fisiología, el Hipnotismo, la Envidia, la Codicia y la Ingratitud forman el jurado. Los espectadores interesados llenan la sala del tribunal, y el Juez Medicina preside.
I here present to my readers an allegory illustrative of the law of divine Mind and of the supposed laws of matter and hygiene, an allegory in which the plea of Christian Science heals the sick.
Suppose a mental case to be on trial, as cases are tried in court. A man is charged with having committed liver-complaint. The patient feels ill, ruminates, and the trial commences. Personal Sense is the plaintiff. Mortal Man is the defendant. False Belief is the attorney for Personal Sense. Mortal Minds, Materia Medica, Anatomy, Physiology, Hypnotism, Envy, Greed and Ingratitude, constitute the jury. The courtroom is filled with interested spectators, and Judge Medicine is on the bench.
…el Juez Medicina se pone de pie y con gran solemnidad dirige la palabra al jurado de las Mentes Mortales. Analiza el delito, examina la prueba y explica la ley tocante al mal de hígado. Su conclusión es que las leyes de la naturaleza dictaminan que la enfermedad es homicida. En cumplimiento de un severo deber, su Señoría, el Juez Medicina, insta al jurado a que no permita que su juicio sea desviado por las sugestiones irracionales y poco cristianas de la Ciencia Cristiana. En semejantes casos el jurado debe acatar sólo el testimonio del Sentido Personal contra el Hombre Mortal.
A medida que prosigue el Juez, el prisionero se va inquietando. Su rostro cetrino palidece de espanto y se fija en él un aire de desesperación y muerte. La causa es entregada al jurado. Sigue una breve deliberación, y el Jurado pronuncia el fallo de: "Culpable de mal de hígado en primer grado".
Judge Medicine arises, and with great solemnity addresses the jury of Mortal Minds. He analyzes the offence, reviews the testimony, and explains the law relating to liver-complaint. His conclusion is, that laws of nature render disease homicidal. In compliance with a stern duty, his Honor, Judge Medicine, urges the jury not to allow their judgment to be warped by the irrational, unchristian suggestions of Christian Science. The jury must regard in such cases only the evidence of Personal Sense against Mortal Man.
As the Judge proceeds, the prisoner grows restless. His sallow face blanches with fear, and a look of despair and death settles upon it. The case is given to the jury. A brief consultation ensues, and the jury returns a verdict of "Guilty of liver-complaint in the first degree."
Veloz en las alas del Amor divino, llega un mensaje: "Suspéndase la ejecución; el prisionero no es culpable". La consternación llena el patio de la cárcel. Algunos exclaman: "Es contrario a la ley y la justicia". Otros dicen: "La ley de Cristo deja sin efecto nuestras leyes; sigamos a Cristo".
Los ojos sinceros y solemnes del defensor, iluminados por la esperanza y el triunfo, se elevan hacia lo alto. Luego la Ciencia Cristiana se vuelve de repente hacia el tribunal supremo e inicia el alegato de la defensa: ——
El prisionero ante el tribunal ha sido sentenciado injustamente. Su juicio fue una tragedia y es moralmente ilegal. El Hombre Mortal no ha tenido defensa competente en la causa.
Swift on the wings of divine Love, there comes a despatch: "Delay the execution; the prisoner is not guilty." Consternation fills the prison-yard. Some exclaim, "It is contrary to law and justice." Others say, "The law of Christ supersedes our laws; let us follow Christ."
The counsel's earnest, solemn eyes, kindling with hope and triumph, look upward. Then Christian Science turns suddenly to the supreme tribunal, and opens the argument for the defence: —
The prisoner at the bar has been unjustly sentenced. His trial was a tragedy, and is morally illegal. Mortal Man has had no proper counsel in the case.
Entonces, ¿qué jurisdicción tuvo en este caso su Señoría, el Juez Medicina? A él podría yo decir en el lenguaje de la Biblia: "¿Estás tu sentado para juzgar... conforme a la ley, y quebrantando la ley... mandas golpear?" La única jurisdicción a la cual se puede someter el prisionero es la de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor. Si ellos no le condenan, tampoco le ha de condenar el Juez Medicina; y pido que al prisionero le sea devuelta la libertad de la cual ha sido privado injustamente.
Then what jurisdiction had his Honor, Judge Medicine, in this case? To him I might say, in Bible language, "Sittest thou to judge ... after the law, and commandest ... to be smitten contrary to the law?" The only jurisdiction to which the prisoner can submit is that of Truth, Life, and Love. If they condemn him not, neither shall Judge Medicine condemn him; and I ask that the prisoner be restored to the liberty of which he has been unjustly deprived.
El abogado, la Ciencia Cristiana, leyó entonces del Código supremo, la Biblia, varios pasajes sobre los Derechos del Hombre, advirtiendo que la Biblia era una autoridad superior a la de Blackstone: —
Hagamos al hombre a nuestra imagen, conforme a nuestra semejanza; y señoree.

The attorney, Christian Science, then read from the supreme statute-book, the Bible, certain extracts on the Rights of Man, remarking that the Bible was better authority than Blackstone: —
Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion.
Behold, I give unto you power ... over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
Con eso terminó el abogado defensor, y el Presidente de la Corte Suprema, con benignidad y majestuosidad, comprendiendo y definiendo toda ley y todo testimonio, explicó, basándose en su código, la Biblia, que cualquier supuesta ley que pretenda castigar algo que no sea pecado, no tiene validez.
Here the counsel for the defence closed, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, with benign and imposing presence, comprehending and defining all law and evidence, explained from his statute-book, the Bible, that any so-called law, which undertakes to punish aught but sin, is null and void.
El Jurado de los Sentidos Espirituales convino en seguida en dictar un veredicto, y por toda la vasta sala de la audiencia del Espíritu resonó el grito de: "Inocente". Entonces se levantó el prisionero, regenerado, fuerte y libre. Cuando estrechaba la mano de su abogado defensor, la Ciencia Cristiana, observamos que toda su palidez y debilidad había desaparecido. Su figura era erguida e imponente y su rostro resplandecía de salud y felicidad. El Amor divino había echado fuera el temor. El Hombre Mortal, que ya no estaba enfermo ni preso, salió —sus pies "hermosos... sobre los montes" como los de uno "que trae alegres nuevas".
The Jury of Spiritual Senses agreed at once upon a verdict, and there resounded throughout the vast audience-chamber of Spirit the cry, Not guilty. Then the prisoner rose up regenerated, strong, free. We noticed, as he shook hands with his counsel, Christian Science, that all sallowness and debility had disappeared. His form was erect and commanding, his countenance beaming with health and happiness. Divine Love had cast out fear. Mortal Man, no longer sick and in prison, walked forth, his feet "beautiful upon the mountains," as of one "that bringeth good tidings."
En la Ciencia divina, donde las oraciones son mentales, todos pueden contar con Dios como "pronto auxilio en las tribulaciones". El Amor es imparcial y universal en su adaptación y en sus dádivas. Es el manantial abierto que exclama: "Todos los sedientos: Venid a las aguas."
In divine Science, where prayers are mental, all may avail themselves of God as "a very present help in trouble." Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals. It is the open fount which cries, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters."

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
