7. La ley de Jehová es perfecta, que convierte el alma; El testimonio de Jehová es fiel, que hace sabio al sencillo.
8. Los mandamientos de Jehová son rectos, que alegran el corazón; El precepto de Jehová es puro, que alumbra los ojos.
9. El temor de Jehová es limpio, que permanece para siempre; Los juicios de Jehová son verdad, todos justos.
10. Deseables son más que el oro, y más que mucho oro afinado; Y dulces más que miel, y que la que destila del panal.

7. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

9. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

1 Hijo mío, no te olvides de mi ley, Y tu corazón guarde mis mandamientos;
2 Porque largura de días y años de vida Y paz te aumentarán.
3 Nunca se aparten de ti la misericordia y la verdad; Átalas a tu cuello, Escríbelas en la tabla de tu corazón;
4 Y hallarás gracia y buena opiniόn Ante los ojos de Dios y de los hombres.
5 Fíate de Jehová de todo tu corazón, Y no te apoyes en tu propia prudencia.
21 Hijo mío, no se aparten estas cosas de tus ojos; Guarda la ley y el consejo,

16 Acab vino a encontrarse con Elías.
17 Cuando Acab vio a Elías, le dijo: ¿Eres tú el que turbas a Israel?
18 Y él respondió: Yo no he turbado a Israel, sino tú y la casa de tu padre, dejando los mandamientos de Jehová, y siguiendo a los baales.
19 Envía, pues, ahora y congrégame a todo Israel en el monte Carmelo, y los cuatrocientos cincuenta profetas de Baal, y los cuatrocientos profetas de Asera, que comen de la mesa de Jezabel.
20 Entonces Acab convocó a todos los hijos de Israel, y reunió a los profetas en el monte Carmelo.
21 Y acercándose Elías a todo el pueblo, dijo: ¿Hasta cuándo claudicaréis vosotros entre dos pensamientos? Si Jehová es Dios, seguidle; y si Baal, id en pos de él. Y el pueblo no respondió palabra.
22 Y Elías volvió a decir al pueblo: Sólo yo he quedado profeta de Jehová; mas de los profetas de Baal hay cuatrocientos cincuenta hombres.
23 Dénsenos, pues, dos bueyes, y escojan ellos uno, y córtenlo en pedazos, y pónganlo sobre leña, pero no pongan fuego debajo; y yo prepararé el otro buey, y lo pondré sobre leña, y ningún fuego pondré debajo.
24 Invocad luego vosotros el nombre de vuestros dioses, y yo invocaré el nombre de Jehová; y el Dios que respondiere por medio de fuego, ese sea Dios. Y todo el pueblo respondió, diciendo: Bien dicho.
25 Entonces Elías dijo a los profetas de Baal: Escogeos un buey, y preparadlo vosotros primero, pues que sois los más; e invocad el nombre de vuestros dioses, mas no pongáis fuego debajo.
26 Y ellos tomaron el buey que les fue dado y lo prepararon, e invocaron el nombre de Baal desde la mañana hasta el mediodía, diciendo: ¡Baal, respóndenos! Pero no había voz, ni quien respondiese; entre tanto, ellos andaban saltando cerca del altar que habían hecho.
29 Pasó el mediodía, y ellos siguieron gritando frenéticamente hasta la hora de ofrecerse el sacrificio, pero no hubo ninguna voz, ni quien respondiese ni escuchase.
30 Entonces dijo Elías a todo el pueblo: Acercaos a mí. Y todo el pueblo se le acercó; y él arregló el altar de Jehová que estaba arruinado.
33 Preparó luego la leña, y cortó el buey en pedazos, y lo puso sobre la leña.
34 Y dijo: Llenad cuatro cántaros de agua, y derramadla sobre el holocausto y sobre la leña. Y dijo: Hacedlo otra vez; y otra vez lo hicieron. Dijo aún: Hacedlo la tercera vez; y lo hicieron la tercera vez,
35 de manera que el agua corría alrededor del altar, y también se había llenado de agua la zanja.
36 Cuando llegó la hora de ofrecerse el holocausto, se acercó el profeta Elías y dijo: Jehová Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Israel, sea hoy manifiesto que tú eres Dios en Israel, y que yo soy tu siervo, y que por mandato tuyo he hecho todas estas cosas.
37 Respóndeme, Jehová, respóndeme, para que conozca este pueblo que tú, oh Jehová, eres el Dios, y que tú vuelves a ti el corazón de ellos.
38 Entonces cayó fuego de Jehová, y consumió el holocausto, la leña, las piedras y el polvo, y aun lamió el agua que estaba en la zanja.
39 Viéndolo todo el pueblo, se postraron y dijeron: ¡Jehová es el Dios, Jehová es el Dios!
41 Entonces Elías dijo a Acab: Sube, come y bebe; porque una lluvia grande se oye.
46 Y la mano de Jehová estuvo sobre Elías,

17 And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?
18 And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed Baalim.
19 Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.
20 So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.
21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
22 Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.
23 Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:
24 And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
25 And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.
26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.
29 And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
30 And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.
33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.
34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.
35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.
36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.
41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
46 And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah;
160 La suma de tu palabra es verdad, Y eterno es todo juicio de tu justicia.
160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
4 Regocijaos en el Señor siempre. Otra vez digo: ¡Regocijaos!
5 Vuestra gentileza sea conocida de todos los hombres. El Señor está cerca.
6 Por nada estéis afanosos, sino sean conocidas vuestras peticiones delante de Dios en toda oración y ruego, con acción de gracias.
7 Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, guardará vuestros corazones y vuestros pensamientos en Cristo Jesús.
8 Por lo demás, hermanos, todo lo que es verdadero, todo lo honesto, todo lo justo, todo lo puro, todo lo amable, todo lo que es de buen nombre; si hay virtud alguna, si algo digno de alabanza, en esto pensad.
9 Lo que aprendisteis y recibisteis y oísteis y visteis en mí, esto haced; y el Dios de paz estará con vosotros.
4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
2 Amado, yo deseo que tú seas prosperado en todas las cosas, y que tengas salud, así como prospera tu alma.
3 Pues mucho me regocijé cuando vinieron los hermanos y dieron testimonio de tu verdad, de cómo andas en la verdad.
4 No tengo yo mayor gozo que este, el oír que mis hijos andan en la verdad.
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
Ha llegado la hora de los pensadores. La Verdad, independiente de doctrinas y sistemas consagrados por el tiempo, llama a las puertas de la humanidad. La conformidad con el pasado y el frío convencionalismo del materialismo se están desmoronando. La ignorancia de lo que es Dios ya no es el puente hacia la fe. La única garantía de obediencia a Dios es una comprensión correcta de Él, y conocerle a Él correctamente significa Vida eterna. Aunque caigan imperios, "reinará Jehová para siempre".
Desde que la autora descubrió el poder de la Verdad en el tratamiento tanto de la enfermedad como del pecado, su sistema ha sido puesto a prueba plenamente, sin encontrársele deficiencia alguna; mas para alcanzar las alturas de la Ciencia Cristiana*, el hombre tiene que vivir en obediencia al Principio divino de esa Ciencia. Para desarrollar todo el poder de esa Ciencia, las discordias del sentido corporal tienen que ceder a la armonía del sentido espiritual, así como la ciencia de la música corrige las notas falsas y da dulce concordancia a los sonidos.
The time for thinkers has come. Truth, independent of doctrines and time-honored systems, knocks at the portal of humanity. Contentment with the past and the cold conventionality of materialism are crumbling away. Ignorance of God is no longer the steppingstone to faith. The only guarantee of obedience is a right apprehension of Him whom to know aright is Life eternal. Though empires fall, "the Lord shall reign forever."
Since the author's discovery of the might of Truth in the treatment of disease as well as of sin, her system has been fully tested and has not been found wanting; but to reach the heights of Christian Science, man must live in obedience to its divine Principle. To develop the full might of this Science, the discords of corporeal sense must yield to the harmony of spiritual sense, even as the science of music corrects false tones and gives sweet concord to sound.
La Ciencia Cristiana revela la Verdad y la supremacía de ésta, la armonía universal, la totalidad de Dios, el bien, y la nada del mal.
Christian Science brings to light Truth and its supremacy, universal harmony, the entireness of God, good, and the nothingness of evil.
Son la ignorancia y las creencias falsas, basadas en un concepto material de las cosas, lo que oculta a la belleza y bondad espirituales. Comprendiendo eso, Pablo dijo: "Ni la muerte, ni la vida,... ni lo presente, ni lo por venir, ni lo alto, ni lo profundo, ni ninguna otra cosa creada nos podrá separar del amor de Dios". Ésta es la doctrina de la Ciencia Cristiana: que el Amor divino no puede ser privado de su manifestación u objeto; que el gozo no puede convertirse en pesar, porque el pesar no es el vencedor del gozo; que el bien nunca puede producir el mal; que la materia jamás puede producir a la mente, ni la vida resultar en muerte. El hombre perfecto —gobernado por Dios, su Principio perfecto— es sin pecado y eterno.
La armonía es producida por su Principio, está gobernada por él y mora en él. El Principio divino es la Vida del hombre. La felicidad del hombre no está, por lo tanto, a merced del sentido físico. La Verdad no se contamina con el error. La armonía en el hombre es tan bella como en la música, y la discordancia es contranatural, irreal.
It is ignorance and false belief, based on a material sense of things, which hide spiritual beauty and goodness. Understanding this, Paul said: "Neither death, nor life, ... nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God." This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind nor life result in death. The perfect man — governed by God, his perfect Principle — is sinless and eternal.
Harmony is produced by its Principle, is controlled by it and abides with it. Divine Principle is the Life of man. Man's happiness is not, therefore, at the disposal of physical sense. Truth is not contaminated by error. Harmony in man is as beautiful as in music, and discord is unnatural, unreal.
Cuando los efectos definitivos, tanto físicos como morales, de la Ciencia Cristiana sean plenamente comprendidos, el conflicto entre la verdad y el error, la comprensión y la creencia, la Ciencia y los sentidos materiales, presagiado por los profetas e iniciado por Jesús, cesará, y reinará la armonía espiritual. Los relámpagos y truenos del error puede que destellen y resuenen, hasta que la nube se despeje y el tumulto se apague a lo lejos. Entonces las lluvias de la divinidad refrescan la tierra. Como dice San Pablo: "Por tanto, queda un reposo para el pueblo de Dios" (del Espíritu).
Las piedras principales en el templo de la Ciencia Cristiana han de encontrarse en los siguientes postulados: que la Vida es Dios, el bien, y no el mal; que el Alma es incapaz de pecar y no ha de encontrarse en el cuerpo; que el Espíritu no está materializado ni puede ser materializado; que la Vida no está sujeta a la muerte; que el hombre espiritual y verdadero no tiene nacimiento, vida material ni muerte.
La Verdad eterna destruye lo que los mortales parecen haber aprendido del error, y la existencia real del hombre como hijo de Dios sale a la luz. La Verdad demostrada es vida eterna.
When the final physical and moral effects of Christian Science are fully apprehended, the conflict between truth and error, understanding and belief, Science and material sense, foreshadowed by the prophets and inaugurated by Jesus, will cease, and spiritual harmony reign. The lightnings and thunderbolts of error may burst and flash till the cloud is cleared and the tumult dies away in the distance. Then the raindrops of divinity refresh the earth. As St. Paul says: "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God" (of Spirit).
The chief stones in the temple of Christian Science are to be found in the following postulates: that Life is God, good, and not evil; that Soul is sinless, not to be found in the body; that Spirit is not, and cannot be, materialized; that Life is not subject to death; that the spiritual real man has no birth, no material life, and no death.
The eternal Truth destroys what mortals seem to have learned from error, and man's real existence as a child of God comes to light. Truth demonstrated is eternal life.
En la Ciencia Cristiana, negar la Verdad es funesto, mientras que un justo reconocimiento de la Verdad y de lo que ella ha hecho por nosotros es una ayuda eficaz. Si el orgullo, la superstición o cualquier otro error impide que se reconozcan honradamente los beneficios recibidos, eso será un obstáculo para el restablecimiento del enfermo y para el buen éxito del estudiante.
In Christian Science, a denial of Truth is fatal, while a just acknowledgment of Truth and of what it has done for us is an effectual help. If pride, superstition, or any error prevents the honest recognition of benefits received, this will be a hindrance to the recovery of the sick and the success of the student.
Ciencia Cristiana no tarda en demostrar que la Verdad triunfa. … Todo el testimonio de los sentidos físicos y todo el conocimiento que se obtiene por medio de los sentidos físicos han de someterse a la Ciencia, a la verdad inmortal de todas las cosas.
Christian Science speedily shows Truth to be triumphant. … All the evidence of physical sense and all the knowledge obtained from physical sense must yield to Science, to the immortal truth of all things.
La Verdad no puede ser contaminada por el error. La declaración de que la Verdad es real, necesariamente incluye la declaración correlativa de que el error, la desemejanza de la Verdad, es irreal.
La hipotética lucha entre la verdad y el error es sólo el conflicto mental entre la evidencia de los sentidos espirituales y el testimonio de los sentidos materiales, y esa lucha entre el Espíritu y la carne resolverá toda cuestión por medio de la fe en el Amor divino y la comprensión de ese Amor.
Truth cannot be contaminated by error. The statement that Truth is real necessarily includes the correlated statement, that error, Truth's unlikeness, is unreal.
The suppositional warfare between truth and error is only the mental conflict between the evidence of the spiritual senses and the testimony of the material senses, and this warfare between the Spirit and flesh will settle all questions through faith in and the understanding of divine Love.
Algunas personas ceden lentamente al toque de la Verdad. Pocas ceden sin lucha y muchas son reacias a admitir que han cedido; pero si no admiten que han cedido, el mal se jactará de que es superior al bien. El Científico Cristiano se ha alistado para disminuir el mal, la enfermedad y la muerte; y los vencerá comprendiendo que nada son y que Dios, o el bien, es Todo. La enfermedad no es para él una tentación menor que el pecado, y sana a ambos comprendiendo el poder de Dios sobre ellos. El Científico Cristiano sabe que son errores de creencia, que la Verdad puede destruir y destruirá.
Some people yield slowly to the touch of Truth. Few yield without a struggle, and many are reluctant to acknowledge that they have yielded; but unless this admission is made, evil will boast itself above good. The Christian Scientist has enlisted to lessen evil, disease, and death; and he will overcome them by understanding their nothingness and the allness of God, or good. Sickness to him is no less a temptation than is sin, and he heals them both by understanding God's power over them. The Christian Scientist knows that they are errors of belief, which Truth can and will destroy.
Cuando pacientemente esperamos en Dios y honradamente buscamos la Verdad, El endereza nuestra vereda. Los imperfectos mortales llegan a comprender la finalidad de la perfección espiritual lentamente; pero empezar bien y continuar la lucha de demostrar el gran problema del ser, es hacer mucho.
When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path. Imperfect mortals grasp the ultimate of spiritual perfection slowly; but to begin aright and to continue the strife of demonstrating the great problem of being, is doing much.
Nada imposible pido al insistir en las exigencias de la Ciencia Cristiana; pero considerando que esa enseñanza se adelanta a su época, no debiéramos negar nuestra necesidad de que nos desarrolle espiritualmente. El género humano se mejorará por medio de la Ciencia y el cristianismo. De la necesidad de elevar a la raza nace el hecho de que la Mente puede hacerlo; porque la Mente puede impartir pureza en lugar de impureza, fuerza en lugar de flaqueza y salud en lugar de enfermedad. La Verdad es un alterante para todo el organismo y puede "sanarlo completamente".
No impossible thing do I ask when urging the claims of Christian Science; but because this teaching is in advance of the age, we should not deny our need of its spiritual unfoldment. Mankind will improve through Science and Christianity. The necessity for uplifting the race is father to the fact that Mind can do it; for Mind can impart purity instead of impurity, strength instead of weakness, and health instead of disease. Truth is an alterative in the entire system, and can make it "every whit whole."
Si echas tu barca sobre las siempre agitadas pero saludables aguas de la verdad, encontrarás tempestades. De tu bien se hablará mal. Eso es la cruz. Tómala y llévala, porque por medio de ella ganarás y te ceñirás la corona. Peregrino en la tierra, tu morada es el cielo; extranjero, eres el huésped de Dios.
If you launch your bark upon the ever-agitated but healthful waters of truth, you will encounter storms. Your good will be evil spoken of. This is the cross. Take it up and bear it, for through it you win and wear the crown. Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God.
La Verdad es siempre victoriosa.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
