10. That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
17. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.

3 No tendrás dioses ajenos delante de mí.
4 No te harás imagen, ni ninguna semejanza de lo que esté arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra, ni en las aguas debajo de la tierra.
5 No te inclinarás a ellas, ni las honrarás; porque yo soy Jehová tu Dios, fuerte, celoso, que visito la maldad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que me aborrecen,
6 y hago misericordia a millares, a los que me aman y guardan mis mandamientos.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

1 And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.
28 Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold,
29 And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other put he in Dan.
30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.
32 So did he in Beth-el, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made:
1 He aquí que un varón de Dios por palabra de Jehová vino de Judá a Bet-el; y estando Jeroboam junto al altar para quemar incienso,
3 Y aquel mismo día dio una señal, diciendo: Esta es la señal de que Jehová ha hablado: he aquí que el altar se quebrará, y la ceniza que sobre él está se derramará.
4 Cuando el rey Jeroboam oyó la palabra del varón de Dios, que había clamado contra el altar de Bet-el, extendiendo su mano desde el altar, dijo: ¡Prendedle! Mas la mano que había extendido contra él, se le secó, y no la pudo enderezar.
5 Y el altar se rompió, y se derramó la ceniza del altar, conforme a la señal que el varón de Dios había dado por palabra de Jehová.
6 Entonces respondiendo el rey, dijo al varón de Dios: Te pido que ruegues ante la presencia de Jehová tu Dios, y ores por mí, para que mi mano me sea restaurada. Y el varón de Dios oró a Jehová, y la mano del rey se le restauró, y quedó como era antes.
1 And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the Lord unto Beth-el: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.
3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the Lord hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.
4 And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Beth-el, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.
5 The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.
6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.
22 Por la misericordia de Jehová no hemos sido consumidos, porque nunca decayeron sus misericordias.
23 Nuevas son cada mañana; grande es tu fidelidad.
24 Mi porción es Jehová, dijo mi alma; por tanto, en él esperaré.
26 Bueno es esperar en silencio la salvación de Jehová.
22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

3 salió de Judea, y se fue otra vez a Galilea.
4 Y le era necesario pasar por Samaria.
6 Y estaba allí el pozo de Jacob. Entonces Jesús, cansado del camino, se sentó así junto al pozo.
7 Vino una mujer de Samaria a sacar agua;
19 Le dijo la mujer: Señor, me parece que tú eres profeta.
20 Nuestros padres adoraron en este monte, y vosotros decís que en Jerusalén es el lugar donde se debe adorar.
21 Jesús le dijo: Mujer, créeme, que la hora viene cuando ni en este monte ni en Jerusalén adoraréis al Padre.
23 Mas la hora viene, y ahora es, cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad; porque también el Padre tales adoradores busca que le adoren.
24 Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, en espíritu y en verdad es necesario que adoren.
27 En esto vinieron sus discípulos, y se maravillaron de que hablaba con una mujer;

32 Él les dijo: Yo tengo una comida que comer, que vosotros no sabéis.

1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3 He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well:
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water:
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman:
31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
5 Sean vuestras costumbres sin avaricia, contentos con lo que tenéis ahora; porque él dijo: No te desampararé, ni te dejaré;
9 No os dejéis llevar de doctrinas diversas y extrañas; porque buena cosa es afirmar el corazón con la gracia,
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace;
11 Amados, yo os ruego como a extranjeros y peregrinos, que os abstengáis de los deseos carnales que batallan contra el alma,
12 manteniendo buena vuestra manera de vivir entre los gentiles; para que en lo que murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, glorifiquen a Dios en el día de la visitación, al considerar vuestras buenas obras.
13 Por causa del Señor someteos a toda institución humana, ya sea al rey, como a superior,
14 ya a los gobernadores, como por él enviados para castigo de los malhechores y alabanza de los que hacen bien.
15 Porque esta es la voluntad de Dios: que haciendo bien, hagáis callar la ignorancia de los hombres insensatos;
16 como libres, pero no como los que tienen la libertad como pretexto para hacer lo malo, sino como siervos de Dios.
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
La sustancia de toda devoción es el reflejo y la demostración del Amor divino, que sanan a la enfermedad y destruyen al pecado. Nuestro Maestro dijo: "Si me amáis, guardad mis mandamientos".
Nuestra mira, un punto más allá de la fe, debiera ser el encuentro de los pasos de la Verdad, el camino a la salud y la santidad. Debiéramos esforzarnos por alcanzar la altura del Horeb, donde Dios es revelado; y la piedra angular de toda construcción espiritual es la pureza. El bautismo por el Espíritu, que lava al cuerpo de todas las impurezas de la carne, significa que los de limpio corazón ven a Dios y están acercándose a la Vida espiritual y su demostración.
The substance of all devotion is the reflection and demonstration of divine Love, healing sickness and destroying sin. Our Master said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."
One's aim, a point beyond faith, should be to find the footsteps of Truth, the way to health and holiness. We should strive to reach the Horeb height where God is revealed; and the corner-stone of all spiritual building is purity. The baptism of Spirit, washing the body of all the impurities of flesh, signifies that the pure in heart see God and are approaching spiritual Life and its demonstration.
Alma o Espíritu significa una sola Mente, y no se puede usar en plural. La mitología pagana y la teología judaica han perpetuado la falacia de que la inteligencia, el alma y la vida puedan estar en la materia; y la idolatría y el ritualismo son el producto de todas las creencias imaginadas por el hombre. La Ciencia del cristianismo viene con aventador en mano a separar la paja del trigo. La Ciencia explicará correctamente a Dios, y el cristianismo demostrará esa explicación y su Principio divino, mejorando al género humano física, moral y espiritualmente.
Soul or Spirit means only one Mind, and cannot be rendered in the plural. Heathen mythology and Jewish theology have perpetuated the fallacy that intelligence, soul, and life can be in matter; and idolatry and ritualism are the outcome of all man-made beliefs. The Science of Christianity comes with fan in hand to separate the chaff from the wheat. Science will declare God aright, and Christianity will demonstrate this declaration and its divine Principle, making mankind better physically, morally, and spiritually.
La Ciencia divina asesta su golpe principal a las supuestas bases materiales de la vida e inteligencia. Condena la idolatría. La creencia en otros dioses, otros creadores y otras creaciones tiene que derrumbarse ante la Ciencia Cristiana. Ésta quita el velo a los resultados del pecado, que se manifiestan en enfermedad y muerte. ¿Cuándo entrará el hombre por la puerta abierta de la Ciencia Cristiana en el cielo del Alma, en la herencia del primogénito entre los hombres? La Verdad por cierto es "el camino".
Divine Science deals its chief blow at the supposed material foundations of life and intelligence. It dooms idolatry. A belief in other gods, other creators, and other creations must go down before Christian Science. It unveils the results of sin as shown in sickness and death. When will man pass through the open gate of Christian Science into the heaven of Soul, into the heritage of the first born among men? Truth is indeed "the way."
La mente mortal se ignora a sí misma; si no, jamás podría engañarse a sí misma. Si la mente mortal supiera cómo ser mejor, sería mejor. Puesto que tiene que creer en algo fuera de sí misma, entroniza a la materia como deidad. La mente humana ha sido idólatra desde el comienzo, teniendo otros dioses y creyendo que hay algo más que la Mente única.
Como los mortales no comprenden ni siquiera la existencia mortal, cuánto mayor será su ignorancia acerca de la Mente omnisapiente y de Sus creaciones.
Mortal mind is ignorant of self, or it could never be self-deceived. If mortal mind knew how to be better, it would be better. Since it must believe in something besides itself, it enthrones matter as deity. The human mind has been an idolater from the beginning, having other gods and believing in more than the one Mind.
As mortals do not comprehend even mortal existence, how ignorant must they be of the all-knowing Mind and of His creations.
La Biblia declara: "Todas las cosas por Él [el Verbo divino] fueron hechas, y sin Él nada de lo que ha sido hecho, fue hecho". Esa es la verdad eterna de la Ciencia divina. Si se comprendiera que el pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte son nada, desaparecerían. Como el vapor se disuelve ante el sol, así el mal se desvanecería ante la realidad del bien. El uno tiene que ocultar al otro. ¡Cuán importante es, pues, escoger el bien como la realidad! El hombre está subordinado a Dios, el Espíritu, y a nada más. El ser de Dios es infinitud, libertad, armonía y felicidad sin límites. "Donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad”.
The Bible declares: "All things were made by Him [the divine Word]; and without Him was not anything made that was made." This is the eternal verity of divine Science. If sin, sickness, and death were understood as nothingness, they would disappear. As vapor melts before the sun, so evil would vanish before the reality of good. One must hide the other. How important, then, to choose good as the reality! Man is tributary to God, Spirit, and to nothing else. God's being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
Los israelitas centraban sus pensamientos en lo material en su intento de adorar lo espiritual. Para ellos la materia era sustancia y el Espíritu era sombra. Creían adorar al Espíritu desde un punto de vista material, pero eso era imposible. Tal vez suplicaban a Jehová, mas sus oraciones no les traían prueba alguna de que habían sido escuchadas, porque no comprendían a Dios lo bastante como para demostrar Su poder curativo —para hacer de la armonía la realidad y de la discordancia la irrealidad.
The Israelites centred their thoughts on the material in their attempted worship of the spiritual. To them matter was substance, and Spirit was shadow. They thought to worship Spirit from a material standpoint, but this was impossible. They might appeal to Jehovah, but their prayer brought down no proof that it was heard, because they did not sufficiently understand God to be able to demonstrate His power to heal, — to make harmony the reality and discord the unreality.
Si alguien es adicto a la bebida, un esclavo del tabaco o el sirviente especial de cualquiera de las innumerables formas de pecado, encarad y destruid esos errores con la verdad del ser —haciéndole ver, al que hace mal, el sufrimiento que ocasiona la sumisión a tales hábitos y convenciéndole que no existe placer real en falsos apetitos. Una mente corrupta se manifiesta en un cuerpo corrupto. La lujuria, la maldad y el mal en todas sus formas, son creencias enfermizas, y sólo podéis vencerlas destruyendo los móviles perversos que las producen. Si el mal ha cesado en la mente mortal arrepentida, en tanto que sus efectos aún continúan en el individuo, podéis quitar ese trastorno a medida que la ley de Dios se cumpla y la reforma borre el delito.
If a man is an inebriate, a slave to tobacco, or the special servant of any one of the myriad forms of sin, meet and destroy these errors with the truth of being, — by exhibiting to the wrong-doer the suffering which his submission to such habits brings, and by convincing him that there is no real pleasure in false appetites. A corrupt mind is manifested in a corrupt body. Lust, malice, and all sorts of evil are diseased beliefs, and you can destroy them only by destroying the wicked motives which produce them. If the evil is over in the repentant mortal mind, while its effects still remain on the individual, you can remove this disorder as God's law is fulfilled and reformation cancels the crime.
Las creencias materiales tienen que ser expulsadas para dar lugar a la comprensión espiritual. No Podemos servir a Dios y a las riquezas al mismo tiempo; ¿mas no es eso lo que los débiles mortales tratan de hacer? Pablo dice: "El deseo de la carne es contra el Espíritu, y el del Espíritu es contra la carne". ¿Quién está dispuesto a admitir eso?
Material beliefs must be expelled to make room for spiritual understanding. We cannot serve both God and mammon at the same time; but is not this what frail mortals are trying to do? Paul says: "The flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh." Who is ready to admit this?
No podemos servir a dos señores, ni percibir la Ciencia divina con los sentidos materiales. Los medicamentos y la higiene no pueden usurpar con éxito el lugar y el poder de la fuente divina de toda salud y perfección. Si Dios hizo al hombre a la vez bueno y malo, el hombre tiene que permanecer así. ¿Qué puede mejorar la obra de Dios? Por otra parte, un error en la premisa tiene que aparecer en la conclusión. Para tener un solo Dios y valerse del poder del Espíritu, debe amarse a Dios supremamente.
We cannot serve two masters nor perceive divine Science with the material senses. Drugs and hygiene cannot successfully usurp the place and power of the divine source of all health and perfection. If God made man both good and evil, man must remain thus. What can improve God's work? Again, an error in the premise must appear in the conclusion. To have one God and avail yourself of the power of Spirit, you must love God supremely.
Adoramos espiritualmente sólo cuando dejamos de adorar materialmente. La devoción espiritual es el alma del cristianismo. La adoración por medio de la materia es paganismo. Los rituales judaicos y otros, no son sino símbolos y sombras de la adoración verdadera. "Los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad".
We worship spiritually, only as we cease to worship materially. Spiritual devoutness is the soul of Christianity. Worshipping through the medium of matter is paganism. Judaic and other rituals are but types and shadows of true worship. "The true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth."
"No tendrás dioses ajenos delante de mí" (Éxodo 20:3). El Primer Mandamiento es mi texto favorito. Demuestra Ciencia Cristiana. Inculca la triunidad de Dios, el Espíritu, la Mente; significa que el hombre no debe tener otro espíritu o mente sino Dios, el bien eterno, y que todos los hombres han de tener una sola Mente. El Principio divino del Primer Mandamiento es la base de la Ciencia del ser, por la cual el hombre demuestra salud, santidad y vida eterna. Un solo Dios infinito, el bien, unifica a los hombres y a las naciones; constituye la hermandad del hombre; pone fin a las guerras; cumple el mandato de las Escrituras: "Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo"; aniquila a la idolatría pagana y a la cristiana —todo lo que es injusto en los códigos sociales, civiles, criminales, políticos y religiosos; establece la igualdad de los sexos; anula la maldición que pesa sobre el hombre, y no deja nada que pueda pecar, sufrir, ser castigado o destruido.
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me." (Exodus xx. 3.) The First Commandment is my favorite text. It demonstrates Christian Science. It inculcates the tri-unity of God, Spirit, Mind; it signifies that man shall have no other spirit or mind but God, eternal good, and that all men shall have one Mind. The divine Principle of the First Commandment bases the Science of being, by which man demonstrates health, holiness, and life eternal. One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, "Love thy neighbor as thyself;" annihilates pagan and Christian idolatry, — whatever is wrong in social, civil, criminal, political, and religious codes; equalizes the sexes; annuls the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
