“Porque esta noche ha estado conmigo el ángel del Dios de quien soy y a quien sirvo.”
“For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve.”
1. El que habita al abrigo del Altísimo Morará bajo la sombra del Omnipotente.
2. Diré yo a Jehová: Esperanza mía, y castillo mío; Mi Dios, en quien confiaré.
9. Porque has puesto a Jehová, que es mi esperanza, Al Altísimo por tu habitación;
10. No te sobrevendrá mal, Ni plaga tocará tu morada.
11. Pues a sus ángeles mandará acerca de ti, Que te guarden en todos tus caminos.
7. De las misericordias de Jehová haré memoria, de las alabanzas de Jehová, conforme a todo lo que Jehová nos ha dado, y de la grandeza de sus beneficios hacia la casa de Israel, que les ha hecho según sus misericordias, y según la multitud de sus piedades.
8. Porque dijo: Ciertamente mi pueblo son, hijos que no mienten; y fue su Salvador.
9. En toda angustia de ellos él fue angustiado, y el ángel de su faz los salvó; en su amor y en su clemencia los redimió, y los trajo, y los levantó todos los días de la antigüedad.
1. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
9. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
7. I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
8. For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.
9. In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

17 Los carros de Dios se cuentan por veintenas de millares de millares:
17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels:
1 Bendeciré a Jehová en todo tiempo; Su alabanza estará de continuo en mi boca.
4 Busqué a Jehová, y él me oyó, Y me libró de todos mis temores.
7 El ángel de Jehová acampa alrededor de los que le temen, Y los defiende.
1 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
12 Y por la mano de los apóstoles se hacían muchas señales y prodigios en el pueblo; y estaban todos unánimes en el pórtico de Salomón.
14 Y los que creían en el Señor aumentaban más, gran número así de hombres como de mujeres;
15 tanto que sacaban los enfermos a las calles, y los ponían en camas y lechos, para que al pasar Pedro, a lo menos su sombra cayese sobre alguno de ellos.
16 Y aun de las ciudades vecinas muchos venían a Jerusalén, trayendo enfermos y atormentados de espíritus inmundos; y todos eran sanados.
17 Entonces levantándose el sumo sacerdote y todos los que estaban con él, esto es, la secta de los saduceos, se llenaron de celos,
18 y echaron mano a los apóstoles y los pusieron en la cárcel pública.
19 Mas un ángel del Señor, abriendo de noche las puertas de la cárcel y sacándolos, dijo:
20 Id, y puestos en pie en el templo, anunciad al pueblo todas las palabras de esta vida.
21 Habiendo oído esto, entraron de mañana en el templo, y enseñaban. Entre tanto, vinieron el sumo sacerdote y los que estaban con él, y convocaron al concilio y a todos los ancianos de los hijos de Israel, y enviaron a la cárcel para que fuesen traídos.
22 Pero cuando llegaron los alguaciles, no los hallaron en la cárcel; entonces volvieron y dieron aviso,
23 diciendo: Por cierto, la cárcel hemos hallado cerrada con toda seguridad, y los guardas afuera de pie ante las puertas; mas cuando abrimos, a nadie hallamos dentro.
25 Pero viniendo uno, les dio esta noticia: He aquí, los varones que pusisteis en la cárcel están en el templo, y enseñan al pueblo.
26 Entonces fue el jefe de la guardia con los alguaciles, y los trajo sin violencia, porque temían ser apedreados por el pueblo.
27 Cuando los trajeron, los presentaron en el concilio, y el sumo sacerdote les preguntó,
28 diciendo: ¿No os mandamos estrictamente que no enseñaseis en ese nombre? Y ahora habéis llenado a Jerusalén de vuestra doctrina, y queréis echar sobre nosotros la sangre de ese hombre.
29 Respondiendo Pedro y los apóstoles, dijeron: Es necesario obedecer a Dios antes que a los hombres.
33 Ellos, oyendo esto, se enfurecían y querían matarlos.
34 Entonces levantándose en el concilio un fariseo llamado Gamaliel, doctor de la ley, venerado de todo el pueblo, mandó que sacasen fuera por un momento a los apóstoles;
35 y luego dijo:
38 Apartaos de estos hombres, y dejadlos; porque si este consejo o esta obra es de los hombres, se desvanecerá:
39 mas si es de Dios, no la podréis destruir; no seáis tal vez hallados luchando contra Dios.
42 Y todos los días, en el templo y por las casas, no cesaban de enseñar y predicar a Jesucristo.
12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.
14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,
18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
21 And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
22 But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told,
23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.
25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.
26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.
29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.
34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
35 And said unto them,
38 Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
1 En aquel mismo tiempo el rey Herodes echó mano a algunos de la iglesia para maltratarles.
2 Y mató a espada a Jacobo, hermano de Juan.
3 Y viendo que esto había agradado a los judíos, procedió a prender también a Pedro.
4 Y habiéndole tomado preso, le puso en la cárcel, entregándole a cuatro grupos de cuatro soldados cada uno, para que le custodiasen; y se proponía sacarle al pueblo después de la pascua.
5 Así que Pedro estaba custodiado en la cárcel; pero la iglesia hacía sin cesar oración a Dios por él.
7 Y he aquí que se presentó un ángel del Señor, y una luz resplandeció en la cárcel; y tocando a Pedro en el costado, le despertó, diciendo: Levántate pronto. Y las cadenas se le cayeron de las manos.
8 Le dijo el ángel: Cíñete, y átate las sandalias. Y lo hizo así. Y le dijo: Envuélvete en tu manto, y sígueme.
9 Y saliendo, le seguía; pero no sabía que era verdad lo que hacía el ángel, sino que pensaba que veía una visión.
10 Habiendo pasado la primera y la segunda guardia, llegaron a la puerta de hierro que daba a la ciudad, la cual se les abrió por sí misma; y salidos, pasaron una calle, y luego el ángel se apartó de él.
11 Entonces Pedro, volviendo en sí, dijo: Ahora entiendo verdaderamente que el Señor ha enviado su ángel, y me ha librado de la mano de Herodes, y de todo lo que el pueblo de los judíos esperaba.
1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also.
4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.
11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
4 Y tal confianza tenemos mediante Cristo para con Dios:
5 no que seamos competentes por nosotros mismos para pensar algo como de nosotros mismos, sino que nuestra competencia proviene de Dios;
6 el cual asimismo nos hizo ministros competentes de un nuevo pacto, no de la letra, sino del espíritu; porque la letra mata, mas el espíritu vivifica.
17 Porque el Señor es el Espíritu; y donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad.
4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
El Espíritu es simbolizado por la fuerza, la presencia y el poder y también por pensamientos sagrados, con alas de Amor. Esos ángeles de Su presencia, los cuales tienen el encargo más sagrado, abundan en la atmósfera espiritual de la Mente y, por consiguiente, reproducen sus propias características. Sus formas individuales no las conocemos, pero sabemos que su naturaleza está aliada con la naturaleza de Dios; y las bendiciones espirituales, así simbolizadas, son los estados exteriorizados, aunque subjetivos, de la fe y la comprensión espiritual.
Spirit is symbolized by strength, presence, and power, and also by holy thoughts, winged with Love. These angels of His presence, which have the holiest charge, abound in the spiritual atmosphere of Mind, and consequently reproduce their own characteristics. Their individual forms we know not, but we do know that their natures are allied to God's nature; and spiritual blessings, thus typified, are the externalized, yet subjective, states of faith and spiritual understanding.
ÁNGELES. Pensamientos de Dios que vienen al hombre; intuiciones espirituales, puras y perfectas; la inspiración de la bondad, de la pureza y de la inmortalidad, que contrarresta todo mal, toda sensualidad y toda mortalidad.
Angels. God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality.
Los ángeles no son seres humanos etéreos, desplegando en sus alas cualidades animales, sino visitantes celestiales, que vuelan con alas espirituales, no materiales. Los ángeles son pensamientos puros que emanan de Dios, alados con Verdad y Amor, cualquiera que sea su individualidad.
Angels are not etherealized human beings, evolving animal qualities in their wings; but they are celestial visitants, flying on spiritual, not material, pinions. Angels are pure thoughts from God, winged with Truth and Love, no matter what their individualism may be.
Mis ángeles son pensamientos elevados, que aparecen a la puerta de algún sepulcro, en el cual la creencia humana ha enterrado sus más caras esperanzas terrenales. Con blancos dedos señalan hacia lo alto, hacia una confianza nueva y glorificada, hacia ideales más elevados de la vida y sus goces. Los ángeles son representantes de Dios. Esos seres de vuelo ascendente nunca conducen hacia el egoísmo, el pecado o la materialidad, sino que guían hacia el Principio divino de todo bien, donde se reúne toda verdadera individualidad, imagen o semejanza de Dios. Al prestarles atención sincera a esos guías espirituales, se quedan con nosotros, y hospedamos "a ángeles, sin saberlo".
My angels are exalted thoughts, appearing at the door of some sepulchre, in which human belief has buried its fondest earthly hopes. With white fingers they point upward to a new and glorified trust, to higher ideals of life and its joys. Angels are God's representatives. These upward-soaring beings never lead towards self, sin, or materiality, but guide to the divine Principle of all good, whither every real individuality, image, or likeness of God, gathers. By giving earnest heed to these spiritual guides they tarry with us, and we entertain "angels unawares."
El Antiguo Testamento asigna a los ángeles, los divinos mensajes de Dios, diferentes oficios. La característica de Miguel es la fuerza espiritual. Él dirige las huestes del cielo contra el poder del pecado, Satanás, y emprende las guerras santas. Gabriel tiene la tarea más apacible, la de impartir un sentido de la omnipresencia del Amor ministrante. Esos ángeles nos salvan de los abismos. La Verdad y el Amor se acercan más en la hora de angustia, cuando la fe firme o la fuerza espiritual lucha y prevalece porque se comprende a Dios. El Gabriel de Su presencia no tiene contiendas. Para el Amor infinito, siempre presente, todo es Amor, y no hay ningún error, ningún pecado ni enfermedad ni muerte.
The Old Testament assigns to the angels, God's divine messages, different offices. Michael's characteristic is spiritual strength. He leads the hosts of heaven against the power of sin, Satan, and fights the holy wars. Gabriel has the more quiet task of imparting a sense of the ever-presence of ministering Love. These angels deliver us from the depths. Truth and Love come nearer in the hour of woe, when strong faith or spiritual strength wrestles and prevails through the understanding of God. The Gabriel of His presence has no contests. To infinite, ever-present Love, all is Love, and there is no error, no sin, sickness, nor death.
¡Qué poca luz o calor llega a nuestra tierra cuando las nubes cubren la faz del sol! Así la Ciencia Cristiana puede verse sólo a medida que se disipen las nubes de los sentidos corporales. La tierra tiene poca luz o gozo para los mortales antes que la Vida se comprenda espiritualmente.
How little light or heat reach our earth when clouds cover the sun's face! So Christian Science can be seen only as the clouds of corporeal sense roll away. Earth has little light or joy for mortals before Life is spiritually learned.
… mas para alcanzar las alturas de la Ciencia Cristiana*, el hombre tiene que vivir en obediencia al Principio divino de esa Ciencia. Para desarrollar todo el poder de esa Ciencia, las discordias del sentido corporal tienen que ceder a la armonía del sentido espiritual, así como la ciencia de la música corrige las notas falsas y da dulce concordancia a los sonidos.
...to reach the heights of Christian Science, man must live in obedience to its divine Principle. To develop the full might of this Science, the discords of corporeal sense must yield to the harmony of spiritual sense, even as the science of music corrects false tones and gives sweet concord to sound.
Lo que se denomina sentido material puede informar sólo sobre un concepto mortal y temporario de las cosas, mientras que el sentido espiritual puede testificar sólo de la Verdad. Para los sentidos materiales, lo irreal es lo real, hasta que ese concepto es corregido por la Ciencia Cristiana.
El sentido espiritual, contradiciendo los sentidos materiales, entraña intuición, esperanza, fe, comprensión, realización, realidad. El sentido material expresa la creencia de que la mente está en la materia. Esa creencia humana, alternando entre un sentido de placer y dolor, de esperanza y temor, de vida y muerte, nunca traspasa el límite de lo mortal o irreal. Cuando se logra lo real, lo cual es anunciado por la Ciencia, la alegría ya no tiembla ni nos defrauda la esperanza. Las ideas espirituales, como los números y las notas, parten del Principio y no admiten creencias materialistas. Las ideas espirituales conducen a su origen divino, Dios, y al concepto espiritual del ser.
What is termed material sense can report only a mortal temporary sense of things, whereas spiritual sense can bear witness only to Truth. To material sense, the unreal is the real until this sense is corrected by Christian Science.
Spiritual sense, contradicting the material senses, involves intuition, hope, faith, understanding, fruition, reality. Material sense expresses the belief that mind is in matter. This human belief, alternating between a sense of pleasure and pain, hope and fear, life and death, never reaches beyond the boundary of the mortal or the unreal. When the real is attained, which is announced by Science, joy is no longer a trembler, nor is hope a cheat. Spiritual ideas, like numbers and notes, start from Principle, and admit no materialistic beliefs. Spiritual ideas lead up to their divine origin, God, and to the spiritual sense of being.
El Espíritu imparte la comprensión que eleva a la consciencia y conduce a toda la verdad. El Salmista dice: "Jehová en las alturas es más poderoso que el estruendo de las muchas aguas, más que las recias ondas del mar". El sentido espiritual es el discernimiento del bien espiritual.
Spirit imparts the understanding which uplifts consciousness and leads into all truth. The Psalmist saith: "The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea." Spiritual sense is the discernment of spiritual good.
Un cristianismo más elevado y más efectivo, que demuestra justicia y satisface las necesidades de los mortales, estén enfermos o sanos, se halla a la puerta de esta época, pidiendo entrada. ¿Le vais a abrir o a cerrar la puerta a ese visitante angelical, que llega en la quietud de la humildad, tal como antaño vino al patriarca en pleno día?
La Verdad trae los elementos de la libertad. Su estandarte lleva el lema inspirado por el Alma: "La esclavitud está abolida". El poder de Dios libera al cautivo. Ningún poder puede resistir al Amor divino. ¿Qué es ese supuesto poder que se opone a Dios? ¿De dónde viene? ¿Qué es aquello que ata al hombre con cadenas de hierro al pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte? Todo lo que esclavice al hombre es contrario al gobierno divino. La Verdad hace libre al hombre.
A higher and more practical Christianity, demonstrating justice and meeting the needs of mortals in sickness and in health, stands at the door of this age, knocking for admission. Will you open or close the door upon this angel visitant, who cometh in the quiet of meekness, as he came of old to the patriarch at noonday?
Truth brings the elements of liberty. On its banner is the Soul-inspired motto, "Slavery is abolished." The power of God brings deliverance to the captive. No power can withstand divine Love. What is this supposed power, which opposes itself to God? Whence cometh it? What is it that binds man with iron shackles to sin, sickness, and death? Whatever enslaves man is opposed to the divine government. Truth makes man free.
Al comprender los derechos del hombre, no podemos dejar de prever el fin de toda opresión. La esclavitud no es el estado legítimo del hombre. Dios creó libre al hombre. Pablo dijo: "Soy libre de nacimiento"*. Todos los hombres debieran ser libres. "Donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad". El Amor y la Verdad liberan, pero el mal y el error conducen al cautiverio.
La Ciencia Cristiana alza el estandarte de la libertad y exclama: "¡Seguidme a mí! ¡Escapad de la esclavitud de la enfermedad, del pecado y de la muerte!" Jesús trazó el camino. Ciudadanos del mundo, ¡aceptad la "libertad gloriosa de los hijos de Dios" y sed libres! Ése es vuestro derecho divino.
Discerning the rights of man, we cannot fail to foresee the doom of all oppression. Slavery is not the legitimate state of man. God made man free. Paul said, "I was free born." All men should be free. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." Love and Truth make free, but evil and error lead into captivity.
Christian Science raises the standard of liberty and cries: "Follow me! Escape from the bondage of sickness, sin, and death!" Jesus marked out the way. Citizens of the world, accept the "glorious liberty of the children of God," and be free! This is your divine right.
Pablo dijo: "Andad en el Espíritu, y no satisfagáis los deseos de la carne". Tarde o temprano aprenderemos que las cadenas de la capacidad finita del hombre las forja la ilusión de que él vive en el cuerpo en lugar de en el Alma, en la materia en lugar de en el Espíritu.
Paul said, "Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." Sooner or later we shall learn that the fetters of man's finite capacity are forged by the illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter instead of in Spirit.
El hombre está subordinado a Dios, el Espíritu, y a nada más. El ser de Dios es infinitud, libertad, armonía y felicidad sin límites. "Donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad". Como los sumos sacerdotes de antaño, el hombre tiene libertad "para entrar en el Lugar Santísimo" —el reino de Dios.
Man is tributary to God, Spirit, and to nothing else. God's being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." Like the archpriests of yore, man is free "to enter into the holiest," — the realm of God.
La armonía y la inmortalidad del hombre están intactas. Debiéramos apartar la vista de la suposición contraria de que el hombre es creado materialmente, y dirigir la mirada hacia la historia espiritual de la creación, hacia aquello que debería ser grabado en el entendimiento y en el corazón "con punta de diamante" y pluma de ángel.
The harmony and immortality of man are intact. We should look away from the opposite supposition that man is created materially, and turn our gaze to the spiritual record of creation, to that which should be engraved on the understanding and heart "with the point of a diamond" and the pen of an angel.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
