“Tú me has redimido, oh Jehová, Dios de verdad.”
“Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.”
6. Jesús le dijo: Yo soy el camino, y la verdad, y la vida; nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí.
4. Permaneced en mí, y yo en vosotros. Como el pámpano no puede llevar fruto por sí mismo, si no permanece en la vid, así tampoco vosotros, si no permanecéis en mí.
5. Yo soy la vid, vosotros los pámpanos; el que permanece en mí, y yo en él, este lleva mucho fruto; porque separados de mí nada podéis hacer.
6. El que en mí no permanece, será echado fuera como pámpano, y se secará; y los recogen, y los echan en el fuego, y arden.
7. Si permanecéis en mí, y mis palabras permanecen en vosotros, pedid todo lo que queréis, y os será hecho.
8. En esto es glorificado mi Padre, en que llevéis mucho fruto, y seáis así mis discípulos.
9. Como el Padre me ha amado, así también yo os he amado; permaneced en mi amor.
6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
4. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
Leccion Sermon
23 Y recorrió Jesús toda Galilea, enseñando en las sinagogas de ellos, y predicando el evangelio del reino, y sanando toda enfermedad y toda dolencia en el pueblo.
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
1 Entonces, entrando Jesús en la barca, pasó al otro lado y vino a su ciudad.
2 Y sucedió que le trajeron un paralítico, tendido sobre una cama; y al ver Jesús la fe de ellos, dijo al paralítico: Ten ánimo, hijo; tus pecados te son perdonados.
3 Entonces algunos de los escribas decían dentro de sí: Este blasfema.
4 Y conociendo Jesús los pensamientos de ellos, dijo: ¿Por qué pensáis mal en vuestros corazones?
5 Porque, ¿qué es más fácil, decir: Los pecados te son perdonados, o decir: Levántate y anda?
6 Pues para que sepáis que el Hijo del Hombre tiene potestad en la tierra para perdonar pecados (dice entonces al paralítico): Levántate, toma tu cama, y vete a tu casa.
7 Entonces él se levantó y se fue a su casa.
1 And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.
2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
7 And he arose, and departed to his house.
31 Dijo entonces Jesús a los judíos que habían creído en él: Si vosotros permaneciereis en mi palabra, seréis verdaderamente mis discípulos;
32 y conoceréis la verdad, y la verdad os hará libres.
33 Le respondieron: Linaje de Abraham somos, y jamás hemos sido esclavos de nadie. ¿Cómo dices tú: Seréis libres?
34 Jesús les respondió: De cierto, de cierto os digo, que todo aquel que hace pecado, esclavo es del pecado.
35 Y el esclavo no queda en la casa para siempre; el hijo sí queda para siempre.
36 Así que, si el Hijo os libertare, seréis verdaderamente libres.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
16 Y yo rogaré al Padre, y os dará otro Consolador, para que esté con vosotros para siempre;
17 el Espíritu de verdad, al cual el mundo no puede recibir, porque no le ve, ni le conoce; pero vosotros le conocéis, porque mora con vosotros, y estará en vosotros.
18 No os dejaré huérfanos; vendré a vosotros.
19 Todavía un poco, y el mundo no me verá más; pero vosotros me veréis; porque yo vivo, vosotros también viviréis.
20 En aquel día vosotros conoceréis que yo estoy en mi Padre, y vosotros en mí, y yo en vosotros.
21 El que tiene mis mandamientos, y los guarda, ese es el que me ama; y el que me ama, será amado por mi Padre, y yo le amaré, y me manifestaré a él.
22 Le dijo Judas (no el Iscariote): Señor, ¿cómo es que te manifestarás a nosotros, y no al mundo?
23 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: El que me ama, mi palabra guardará; y mi Padre le amará, y vendremos a él, y haremos morada con él.
24 El que no me ama, no guarda mis palabras; y la palabra que habéis oído no es mía, sino del Padre que me envió.
25 Os he dicho estas cosas estando con vosotros.
26 Mas el Consolador, el Espíritu Santo, a quien el Padre enviará en mi nombre, él os enseñará todas las cosas, y os recordará todo lo que yo os he dicho.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
5 Así que Pedro estaba custodiado en la cárcel; pero la iglesia hacía sin cesar oración a Dios por él.
6 Y cuando Herodes le iba a sacar, aquella misma noche estaba Pedro durmiendo entre dos soldados, sujeto con dos cadenas, y los guardas delante de la puerta custodiaban la cárcel.
7 Y he aquí que se presentó un ángel del Señor, y una luz resplandeció en la cárcel; y tocando a Pedro en el costado, le despertó, diciendo: Levántate pronto. Y las cadenas se le cayeron de las manos.
8 Le dijo el ángel: Cíñete, y átate las sandalias. Y lo hizo así. Y le dijo: Envuélvete en tu manto, y sígueme.
9 Y saliendo, le seguía; pero no sabía que era verdad lo que hacía el ángel, sino que pensaba que veía una visión.
10 Habiendo pasado la primera y la segunda guardia, llegaron a la puerta de hierro que daba a la ciudad, la cual se les abrió por sí misma; y salidos, pasaron una calle, y luego el ángel se apartó de él.
11 Entonces Pedro, volviendo en sí, dijo: Ahora entiendo verdaderamente que el Señor ha enviado su ángel, y me ha librado de la mano de Herodes, y de todo lo que el pueblo de los judíos esperaba.
12 Y habiendo considerado esto, llegó a casa de María la madre de Juan, el que tenía por sobrenombre Marcos, donde muchos estaban reunidos orando.
13 Cuando llamó Pedro a la puerta del patio, salió a escuchar una muchacha llamada Rode,
14 la cual, cuando reconoció la voz de Pedro, de gozo no abrió la puerta, sino que corriendo adentro, dio la nueva de que Pedro estaba a la puerta.
15 Y ellos le dijeron: Estás loca. Pero ella aseguraba que así era. Entonces ellos decían: ¡Es su ángel!
16 Mas Pedro persistía en llamar; y cuando abrieron y le vieron, se quedaron atónitos.
17 Pero él, haciéndoles con la mano señal de que callasen, les contó cómo el Señor le había sacado de la cárcel.
5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.
11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.
16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison.
17 Porque el Señor es el Espíritu; y donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Para evitar la enfermedad o para curarla, el poder de la Verdad, el del Espíritu divino, tiene que romper el sueño de los sentidos materiales.
To prevent disease or to cure it, the power of Truth, of divine Spirit, must break the dream of the material senses.
La Verdad no tiene consciencia de error. El Amor no tiene sensación de odio. La Vida no tiene sociedad con la muerte. La Verdad, la Vida y el Amor son una ley de aniquilación para todo lo que les sea desemejante, porque no proclaman sino a Dios.
Truth has no consciousness of error. Love has no sense of hatred. Life has no partnership with death. Truth, Life, and Love are a law of annihilation to everything unlike themselves, because they declare nothing except God.
La Verdad no tiene comienzo. La Mente divina es el Alma del hombre y da al hombre señorío sobre todas las cosas. El hombre no fue creado partiendo de una base material, ni ordenado a obedecer leyes materiales que el Espíritu nunca hizo; su esfera está en los estatutos espirituales, en la ley superior de la Mente.
Truth has no beginning. The divine Mind is the Soul of man, and gives man dominion over all things. Man was not created from a material basis, nor bidden to obey material laws which Spirit never made; his province is in spiritual statutes, in the higher law of Mind.
La comprensión, semejante a la de Cristo, del ser científico y de la curación divina, incluye un Principio perfecto y una idea perfecta —Dios perfecto y hombre perfecto— como base del pensamiento y de la demostración.
The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea, — perfect God and perfect man, — as the basis of thought and demonstration.
Sabiendo que el Alma y sus atributos se manifestaban eternamente por medio del hombre, el Maestro sanaba a los enfermos, daba vista a los ciegos, oído a los sordos, pies a los cojos, revelando así la acción científica de la Mente divina sobre mentes y cuerpos humanos, y dando una mejor comprensión del Alma y la salvación. Jesús sanó la enfermedad y el pecado por un mismo procedimiento metafísico.
Knowing that Soul and its attributes were forever manifested through man, the Master healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, feet to the lame, thus bringing to light the scientific action of the divine Mind on human minds and bodies and giving a better understanding of Soul and salvation. Jesus healed sickness and sin by one and the same metaphysical process.
Desde que la autora descubrió el poder de la Verdad en el tratamiento tanto de la enfermedad como del pecado, su sistema ha sido puesto a prueba plenamente, sin encontrársele deficiencia alguna; mas para alcanzar las alturas de la Ciencia Cristiana*, el hombre tiene que vivir en obediencia al Principio divino de esa Ciencia. Para desarrollar todo el poder de esa Ciencia, las discordias del sentido corporal tienen que ceder a la armonía del sentido espiritual, así como la ciencia de la música corrige las notas falsas y da dulce concordancia a los sonidos.
La teología y la física enseñan que tanto el Espíritu como la materia son reales y buenos, mientras que lo cierto es, que el Espíritu es bueno y real y la materia es lo opuesto del Espíritu. La pregunta: ¿Qué es la Verdad? se contesta con la demostración —sanando la enfermedad así como el pecado; y esa demostración enseña que la curación cristiana confiere el máximo de salud y produce los mejores hombres. Sobre esa base la Ciencia Cristiana tendrá una lucha imparcial. La enfermedad ha sido combatida durante siglos por los médicos usando remedios materiales, pero se suscita la pregunta: ¿Hay acaso menos enfermedades gracias a esos médicos? Un enérgico "No" es la respuesta que se deduce de dos hechos correlativos — la reconocida longevidad de los antediluvianos y la rápida multiplicación y creciente virulencia de las enfermedades después del diluvio.
Since the author's discovery of the might of Truth in the treatment of disease as well as of sin, her system has been fully tested and has not been found wanting; but to reach the heights of Christian Science, man must live in obedience to its divine Principle. To develop the full might of this Science, the discords of corporeal sense must yield to the harmony of spiritual sense, even as the science of music corrects false tones and gives sweet concord to sound.
Theology and physics teach that both Spirit and matter are real and good, whereas the fact is that Spirit is good and real, and matter is Spirit's opposite. The question, What is Truth, is answered by demonstration, — by healing both disease and sin; and this demonstration shows that Christian healing confers the most health and makes the best men. On this basis Christian Science will have a fair fight. Sickness has been combated for centuries by doctors using material remedies; but the question arises, Is there less sickness because of these practitioners? A vigorous "No" is the response deducible from two connate facts, — the reputed longevity of the Antediluvians, and the rapid multiplication and increased violence of diseases since the flood.
Semper paratus es el lema de la Verdad. Habiendo visto tanto sufrimiento debido a la charlatanería, la autora desea excluirla de la Ciencia Cristiana. La espada de dos filos de la Verdad ha de revolverse en toda dirección para guardar "el árbol de la vida".
Semper paratus is Truth's motto. Having seen so much suffering from quackery, the author desires to keep it out of Christian Science. The two-edged sword of Truth must turn in every direction to guard "the tree of life."
Si el Espíritu o el poder del Amor divino da testimonio de la verdad, éste es el ultimátum, el procedimiento científico, y la curación es instantánea.
La causa promotora y base de toda enfermedad es el temor, la ignorancia o el pecado. La enfermedad siempre es producida por un concepto falso que se abriga mentalmente y no se ha destruido. La enfermedad es una imagen de pensamiento exteriorizada.
If Spirit or the power of divine Love bear witness to the truth, this is the ultimatum, the scientific way, and the healing is instantaneous.
The procuring cause and foundation of all sickness is fear, ignorance, or sin. Disease is always induced by a false sense mentally entertained, not destroyed. Disease is an image of thought externalized.
La Verdad trae los elementos de la libertad. Su estandarte lleva el lema inspirado por el Alma: "La esclavitud está abolida". El poder de Dios libera al cautivo. Ningún poder puede resistir al Amor divino. ¿Qué es ese supuesto poder que se opone a Dios? ¿De dónde viene? ¿Qué es aquello que ata al hombre con cadenas de hierro al pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte? Todo lo que esclavice al hombre es contrario al gobierno divino. La Verdad hace libre al hombre.
Se puede saber cuándo la Verdad empieza a ir a la vanguardia por sus pocos seguidores y la fidelidad de éstos. Así es como la marcha del tiempo lleva hacia adelante el estandarte de la libertad. Los poderes de este mundo lucharán, y ordenarán a sus centinelas que no dejen que la verdad trasponga la guardia hasta que se suscriba a sus sistemas; pero la Ciencia, no haciendo caso a las bayonetas caladas, sigue su marcha. Siempre hay algún tumulto, pero también hay quienes cierran filas alrededor del estandarte de la verdad.
Truth brings the elements of liberty. On its banner is the Soul-inspired motto, "Slavery is abolished." The power of God brings deliverance to the captive. No power can withstand divine Love. What is this supposed power, which opposes itself to God? Whence cometh it? What is it that binds man with iron shackles to sin, sickness, and death? Whatever enslaves man is opposed to the divine government. Truth makes man free.
You may know when first Truth leads by the fewness and faithfulness of its followers. Thus it is that the march of time bears onward freedom's banner. The powers of this world will fight, and will command their sentinels not to let truth pass the guard until it subscribes to their systems; but Science, heeding not the pointed bayonet, marches on. There is always some tumult, but there is a rallying to truth's standard.
Al comprender los derechos del hombre, no podemos dejar de prever el fin de toda opresión. La esclavitud no es el estado legítimo del hombre. Dios creó libre al hombre. Pablo dijo: "Soy libre de nacimiento"*. Todos los hombres debieran ser libres. "Donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad". El Amor y la Verdad liberan, pero el mal y el error conducen al cautiverio.
Discerning the rights of man, we cannot fail to foresee the doom of all oppression. Slavery is not the legitimate state of man. God made man free. Paul said, "I was free born." All men should be free. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." Love and Truth make free, but evil and error lead into captivity.
La ley de Cristo, o la Verdad, hace que todas las cosas sean posibles para el Espíritu; pero las llamadas leyes de la materia tratarían de hacer ineficaz al Espíritu y exigir obediencia a códigos materialistas, apartándose así de la base de un solo Dios, un solo legislador. Suponer que Dios constituye leyes de discordia es una equivocación; las discordias no son apoyadas por la naturaleza o por ley divina, por mucho que se diga en contra.
The law of Christ, or Truth, makes all things possible to Spirit; but the so-called laws of matter would render Spirit of no avail, and demand obedience to materialistic codes, thus departing from the basis of one God, one lawmaker. To suppose that God constitutes laws of inharmony is a mistake; discords have no support from nature or divine law, however much is said to the contrary.
La Verdad echa fuera todos los males y métodos materialistas con la verdadera ley espiritual —la ley que da vista al ciego, oído al sordo, voz al mudo, pies al cojo.
Truth casts out all evils and materialistic methods with the actual spiritual law, — the law which gives sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, voice to the dumb, feet to the lame.
La Verdad infinita de la curación por el Cristo ha venido a esta época por medio de una "voz callada y suave", por medio de silencioso lenguaje y de unción divina, que vivifican y aumentan los efectos beneficiosos del cristianismo. Anhelo ver el cumplimiento de mi esperanza, a saber, los progresos superiores del estudiante en este sendero de luz.
Porque la Verdad es infinita, debe reconocerse que el error es nada. Porque la Verdad es omnipotente en bondad, el error, lo opuesto de la Verdad, no tiene poder. El mal no es sino el contrapeso de la nada. El mal más grande no es más que el opuesto hipotético del bien más elevado. La confianza inspirada por la Ciencia descansa en el hecho de que la Verdad es real y el error es irreal. El error es un cobarde ante la Verdad.
The infinite Truth of the Christ-cure has come to this age through a "still, small voice," through silent utterances and divine anointing which quicken and increase the beneficial effects of Christianity. I long to see the consummation of my hope, namely, the student's higher attainments in this line of light.
Because Truth is infinite, error should be known as nothing. Because Truth is omnipotent in goodness, error, Truth's opposite, has no might. Evil is but the counterpoise of nothingness. The greatest wrong is but a supposititious opposite of the highest right. The confidence inspired by Science lies in the fact that Truth is real and error is unreal. Error is a coward before Truth.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
