4 Oye, Israel: Jehová nuestro Dios, Jehová uno es:
5 Y amarás a Jehová tu Dios de todo tu corazón, y de toda tu alma, y con todas tus fuerzas.
6 Y estas palabras que yo te mando hoy, estarán sobre tu corazón:
10 Cuando Jehová tu Dios te haya introducido en la tierra que juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob que te daría, en ciudades grandes y buenas que tú no edificaste,
12 cuídate de no olvidarte de Jehová, que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de casa de servidumbre.

10. And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,

17. Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.

1 Y habló Dios todas estas palabras, diciendo,
2 Yo soy Jehová tu Dios, que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto, de casa de servidumbre.
3 No tendrás dioses ajenos delante de mí.
4 No te harás imagen, ni ninguna semejanza de lo que esté arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra, ni en las aguas debajo de la tierra:
5 No te inclinarás a ellas, ni las honrarás; porque yo soy Jehová tu Dios, fuerte, celoso, que visito la maldad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que me aborrecen;
6 y hago misericordia a millares, a los que me aman y guardan mis mandamientos.
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.
4 Engrandecí mis obras, edifiqué para mí casas, planté para mí viñas:
5 me hice huertos y jardines, y planté en ellos árboles de todo fruto:
6 Me hice estanques de aguas, para regar de ellos el bosque donde crecían los árboles:
7 Compré siervos y siervas, y tuve siervos nacidos en casa; también tuve posesión grande de vacas y de ovejas, más que todos los que fueron antes de mí en Jerusalén:

4 I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:
5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:
6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:
7 I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:
8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.
9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them,
11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.
13 El fin de todo el discurso oído es este: Teme a Dios, y guarda sus mandamientos; porque esto es el todo del hombre.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
21 Pasando otra vez Jesús en una barca a la otra orilla, se reunió alrededor de él una gran multitud; y él estaba junto al mar.
25 Pero una mujer que desde hacía doce años padecía de flujo de sangre,
26 y había sufrido mucho de muchos médicos, y gastado todo lo que tenía, y nada había aprovechado, antes le iba peor,

21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
1 Estad, pues, firmes en la libertad con que Cristo nos hizo libres, y no estéis otra vez sujetos al yugo de esclavitud.
5 Pues nosotros por el Espíritu aguardamos por fe la esperanza de la justicia.
13 Porque vosotros, hermanos, a libertad fuisteis llamados; solamente que no uséis la libertad como ocasión para la carne, sino servíos por amor los unos a los otros.
16 Digo, pues: Andad en el Espíritu, y no satisfagáis los deseos de la carne.

5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

1 Ahora, pues, ninguna condenación hay para los que están en Cristo Jesús, los que no andan conforme a la carne, sino conforme al Espíritu.
2 Porque la ley del Espíritu de vida en Cristo Jesús me ha librado de la ley del pecado y de la muerte.
5 Porque los que son de la carne piensan en las cosas de la carne; pero los que son del Espíritu, en las cosas del Espíritu.
6 Porque el ocuparse de la carne es muerte, pero el ocuparse del Espíritu es vida y paz.

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Christian Science meets a yearning of the human race for spirituality.
Sólo los goces más elevados pueden satisfacer los anhelos del hombre inmortal.
Higher enjoyments alone can satisfy the cravings of immortal man.
Para determinar nuestro progreso, debemos saber dónde ponemos nuestros afectos y a quién reconocemos y obedecemos como Dios. Si nos estamos sintiendo más cerca del Amor divino, si nos es más amado y más real, entonces la materia se está sometiendo al Espíritu. Los objetivos que perseguimos y el espíritu que manifestamos, revelan nuestro punto de vista y muestran lo que estamos ganando.
La Mente perfecta emite perfección, pues Dios es la Mente. La mente mortal e imperfecta emite sus propias semejanzas, de las cuales dijo el sabio: "Todo es vanidad".
To ascertain our progress, we must learn where our affections are placed and whom we acknowledge and obey as God. If divine Love is becoming nearer, dearer, and more real to us, matter is then submitting to Spirit. The objects we pursue and the spirit we manifest reveal our standpoint, and show what we are winning.
The perfect Mind sends forth perfection, for God is Mind. Imperfect mortal mind sends forth its own resemblances, of which the wise man said, "All is vanity."
Es la espiritualización del pensamiento y la cristianización de la vida diaria, en contraste con los resultados de la horrible farsa de la existencia material; es la castidad y pureza, en contraste con las tendencias degradantes y la gravitación hacia lo terrenal del sensualismo y de la impureza, lo que realmente comprueba el origen y la eficacia divinos de la Ciencia Cristiana. It is the spiritualization of thought and Christianization of daily life, in contrast with the results of the ghastly farce of material existence; it is chastity and purity, in contrast with the downward tendencies and earthward gravitation of sensualism and impurity, which really attest the divine origin and operation of Christian Science. The triumphs of Christian Science are recorded in the destruction of error and evil, from which are propagated the dismal beliefs of sin, sickness, and death.
Job dijo: "De oídas Te había oído; mas ahora mis ojos Te ven". Los mortales harán eco al pensamiento de Job cuando los supuestos dolores y placeres de la materia cesen de predominar. Entonces abandonarán la opinión falsa acerca de la vida y la felicidad, de la alegría y la tristeza, y alcanzarán la dicha de amar desinteresadamente,de trabajar con paciencia y de vencer todo lo que sea desemejante a Dios. Partiendo desde un punto de vista más elevado, uno asciende espontáneamente, así como la luz emite luz sin esfuerzo; pues "donde esté vuestro tesoro, allí estará también vuestro corazón".
Job said: "I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth Thee." Mortals will echo Job's thought, when the supposed pain and pleasure of matter cease to predominate. They will then drop the false estimate of life and happiness, of joy and sorrow, and attain the bliss of loving unselfishly, working patiently, and conquering all that is unlike God. Starting from a higher standpoint, one rises spontaneously, even as light emits light without effort; for "where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
La Ciencia divina asesta su golpe principal a las supuestas bases materiales de la vida e inteligencia. Condena la idolatría. La creencia en otros dioses, otros creadores y otras creaciones tiene que derrumbarse ante la Ciencia Cristiana. Ésta quita el velo a los resultados del pecado, que se manifiestan en enfermedad y muerte. ¿Cuándo entrará el hombre por la puerta abierta de la Ciencia Cristiana en el cielo del Alma, en la herencia del primogénito entre los hombres? La Verdad por cierto es "el camino".
Divine Science deals its chief blow at the supposed material foundations of life and intelligence. It dooms idolatry. A belief in other gods, other creators, and other creations must go down before Christian Science. It unveils the results of sin as shown in sickness and death. When will man pass through the open gate of Christian Science into the heaven of Soul, into the heritage of the first born among men? Truth is indeed " the way."
Los antiguos cristianos eran sanadores. ¿Por qué se habrá perdido ese elemento del cristianismo? Porque nuestros sistemas de religión están más o menos dominados por nuestros sistemas de medicina. La primera idolatría fue fe en la materia. Las escuelas han puesto en boga la fe en los medicamentos más bien que fe en la Deidad. Al confiar en la materia para destruir la discordia que ella misma ha creado, se ha sacrificado a la salud y a la armonía. Tales sistemas carecen de la vitalidad del poder espiritual, por el cual el sentido material se convierte en siervo de la Ciencia y la religión adquiere el espíritu de Cristo.
Para sanar al cuerpo, la medicina material sustituye con medicamentos el poder de Dios —el poder de la Mente. El escolasticismo, para salvarse, se adhiere a la persona, en vez de al Principio divino, del hombre Jesús; y su Ciencia, el agente sanativo de Dios, es silenciada. ¿Por qué? Porque la verdad quita a los medicamentos materiales su poder imaginario y confiere supremacía al Espíritu.
The ancient Christians were healers. Why has this element of Christianity been lost? Because our systems of religion are governed more or less by our systems of medicine. The first idolatry was faith in matter. The schools have rendered faith in drugs the fashion, rather than faith in Deity. By trusting matter to destroy its own discord, health and harmony have been sacrificed. Such systems are barren of the vitality of spiritual power, by which material sense is made the servant of Science and religion becomes Christlike.
Material medicine substitutes drugs for the power of God — even the might of Mind — to heal the body. Scholasticism clings for salvation to the person, instead of to the divine Principle, of the man Jesus; and his Science, the curative agent of God, is silenced. Why? Because truth divests material drugs of their imaginary power, and clothes Spirit with supremacy.
¿Será la civilización sólo una forma más elevada de idolatría, para que el hombre tenga que doblegarse ante un cepillo para frotar la piel, ante franelas, baños, dietas, ejercicios y aire? Nada, excepto el poder divino, es capaz de hacer tanto por el hombre como éste puede hacer por sí mismo.
Los pasos del pensamiento, al ascender sobre los puntos de vista materiales, son lentos, y presagian una larga noche al viajero; pero los ángeles de Su presencia — las intuiciones espirituales que nos dicen que "la noche está avanzada, y se acerca el día"— son nuestros guardianes en las tinieblas.
Is civilization only a higher form of idolatry, that man should bow down to a flesh-brush, to flannels, to baths, diet, exercise, and air? Nothing save divine power is capable of doing so much for man as he can do for himself.
The footsteps of thought, rising above material standpoints, are slow, and portend a long night to the traveller; but the angels of His presence — the spiritual intuitions that tell us when "the night is far spent, the day is at hand" — are our guardians in the gloom.
La Ciencia invierte el falso testimonio de los sentidos físicos, y por esa inversión los mortales llegan a conocer los hechos fundamentales del ser. Entonces inevitablemente se presenta la pregunta: ¿Está un hombre enfermo si los sentidos materiales indican que está bien de salud? ¡No! porque la materia no puede determinar el estado del hombre. Y ¿está sano si los sentidos dicen que está enfermo? Sí, está sano en la Ciencia, en la cual la salud es lo normal y la enfermedad lo anormal.
La salud no es un estado de la materia, sino de la Mente; tampoco pueden los sentidos materiales dar testimonio confiable sobre el tema de la salud. La Ciencia de la curación por la Mente muestra que es imposible que algo que no sea la Mente pueda dar testimonio verídico o muestre el estado real del hombre. Por lo tanto, el Principio divino de la Ciencia, invirtiendo el testimonio de los sentidos físicos, revela que el hombre existe armoniosamente en la Verdad, lo cual es la única base de la salud; y así la Ciencia niega toda enfermedad, sana a los enfermos, destruye la falsa evidencia y refuta la lógica materialista.
Science reverses the false testimony of the physical senses, and by this reversal mortals arrive at the fundamental facts of being. Then the question inevitably arises: Is a man sick if the material senses indicate that he is in good health? No! for matter can make no conditions for man. And is he well if the senses say he is sick? Yes, he is well in Science in which health is normal and disease is abnormal.
Health is not a condition of matter, but of Mind; nor can the material senses bear reliable testimony on the subject of health. The Science of Mind-healing shows it to be impossible for aught but Mind to testify truly or to exhibit the real status of man. Therefore the divine Principle of Science, reversing the testimony of the physical senses, reveals man as harmoniously existent in Truth, which is the only basis of health; and thus Science denies all disease, heals the sick, overthrows false evidence, and refutes materialistic logic.
He comprobado que para aliviar inflamaciones, disolver tumores, o curar enfermedades orgánicas, la Verdad divina es más potente que todos los remedios inferiores. Y ¿por qué no, puesto que la Mente, Dios, es la fuente y condición de toda existencia? Antes de decidir que el cuerpo, la materia, sufre de un
desarreglo, uno debiera preguntar: "¿Quién eres tú que altercas con el Espíritu? ¿Puede la materia hablar por sí misma o es de ella que mana la vida?" La materia, que es incapaz de sufrir o de gozar, no tiene asociación alguna con el dolor y el placer; pero la creencia mortal sí tiene tal asociación.
To reduce inflammation, dissolve a tumor, or cure organic disease, I have found divine Truth more potent than all lower remedies. And why not, since Mind, God, is the source and condition of all existence? Before deciding that the body, matter, is disordered, one should ask, "Who art thou that repliest to Spirit? Can matter speak for itself, or does it hold the issues of life?" Matter, which can neither suffer nor enjoy, has no partnership with pain and pleasure, but mortal belief has such a partnership.
El hombre mortal será menos mortal cuando aprenda que la materia nunca sostuvo a la existencia y que jamás puede destruir a Dios, que es la Vida del hombre. Cuando eso se comprenda, la humanidad será más espiritual y sabrá que nada hay que pueda consumirse, puesto que el Espíritu, Dios, es Todo-en- todo. ¿Qué importa si la creencia es tuberculosis? Dios es más para un hombre que su creencia, y cuanto menos acreditamos a la materia o sus leyes, tanto más inmortalidad poseemos. La consciencia construye un cuerpo mejor cuando la fe en la materia se ha vencido. Corregid la creencia material con la comprensión espiritual, y el Espíritu os formará de nuevo. Jamás volveréis a tener otro temor que no sea el de ofender a Dios, y jamás creeréis que el corazón o cualquier otra parte del cuerpo os pueda destruir.
Mortal man will be less mortal, when he learns that matter never sustained existence and can never destroy God, who is man's Life. When this is understood, mankind will be more spiritual and know that there is nothing to consume, since Spirit, God, is All-in-all. What if the belief is consumption? God is more to a man than his belief, and the less we acknowledge matter or its laws, the more immortality we possess. Consciousness constructs a better body when faith in matter has been conquered. Correct material belief by spiritual understanding, and Spirit will form you anew. You will never fear again except to offend God, and you will never believe that heart or any portion of the body can destroy you.
Pregunta. — ¿Cuál es la declaración científica del ser?
Respuesta. — No hay vida, verdad, inteligencia ni sustancia en la materia. Todo es Mente infinita y su manifestación infinita, porque Dios es Todo-en-todo. El Espíritu es Verdad inmortal; la materia es error mortal. El Espíritu es lo real y eterno; la materia es lo irreal y temporal. El Espíritu es Dios, y el hombre es Su imagen y semejanza. Por lo tanto el hombre no es material; él es espiritual.
Question. — What is the scientific statement of being?
Answer. — There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
