8 O Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?

1 En el principio creó Dios los cielos y la tierra.
2 Y la tierra estaba desordenada y vacía, y las tinieblas estaban sobre la faz del abismo, y el Espíritu de Dios se movía sobre la faz de las aguas.
3 Y dijo Dios: Sea la luz; y fue la luz.
4 Y vio Dios que la luz era buena; y separó Dios la luz de las tinieblas.

14 Dijo luego Dios: Haya lumbreras en la expansión de los cielos para separar el día de la noche; y sirvan de señales para las estaciones, para días y años:
15 y sean por lumbreras en la expansión de los cielos para alumbrar sobre la tierra. Y fue así.
16 E hizo Dios las dos grandes lumbreras; la lumbrera mayor para que señorease en el día, y la lumbrera menor para que señorease en la noche; hizo también las estrellas.
17 Y las puso Dios en la expansión de los cielos para alumbrar sobre la tierra,
18 y para señorear en el día y en la noche, y para separar la luz de las tinieblas. Y vio Dios que era buen.

20 Dijo Dios: Produzcan las aguas seres vivientes, y aves que vuelen sobre la tierra, en la abierta expansión de los cielos.
21 Y creó Dios los grandes monstruos marinos, y todo ser viviente que se mueve, que las aguas produjeron según su género, y toda ave alada según su especie. Y vio Dios que era bueno.
22 Y Dios los bendijo, diciendo: Fructificad y multiplicaos, y llenad las aguas en los mares, y multiplíquense las aves en la tierra.
23 Y fue la tarde y la mañana el día quinto.
24 Luego dijo Dios: Produzca la tierra seres vivientes según su género, bestias y serpientes y animales de la tierra según su especie. Y fue así.
25 E hizo Dios animales de la tierra según su género, y ganado según su género, y todo animal que se arrastra sobre la tierra según su especie. Y vio Dios que era bueno.
26 Entonces dijo Dios: Hagamos al hombre a nuestra imagen, conforme a nuestra semejanza; y señoree en los peces del mar, en las aves de los cielos, en las bestias, en toda la tierra, y en todo animal que se arrastra sobre la tierra.
27 Y creó Dios al hombre a su imagen, a imagen de Dios lo creó; varón y hembra los creó.

24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

13 Porque he aquí, el que forma los montes, y crea el viento, y anuncia al hombre su pensamiento; el que hace de las tinieblas mañana, y pasa sobre las alturas de la tierra; Jehová Dios de los ejércitos es su nombre.
13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The Lord, The God of hosts, is his name.
11 Señor, digno eres de recibir la gloria y la honra y el poder; porque tú creaste todas las cosas, y por tu voluntad existen y fueron creadas.
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
CREADOR. Espíritu; Mente; inteligencia; el vivificador Principio divino de todo lo que es real y bueno; Vida, Verdad y Amor autoexistentes; lo que es perfecto y eterno; lo opuesto de la materia y del mal, los cuales no tienen Principio; Dios, quien hizo todo lo que fue hecho y quien no pudo crear un átomo o un elemento que fuera el opuesto de Él.
Creator. Spirit; Mind; intelligence; the animating divine Principle of all that is real and good; self-existent Life, Truth, and Love; that which is perfect and eternal; the opposite of matter and evil, which have no Principle; God, who made all that was made and could not create an atom or an element the opposite of Himself.
Dios crea y gobierna el universo, incluso el hombre. El universo está lleno de ideas espirituales, que Dios desarrolla, y éstas obedecen a la Mente que las crea.
God creates and governs the universe, including man. The universe is filled with spiritual ideas, which He evolves, and they are obedient to the Mind that makes them.
"En el principio creó Dios los cielos y la tierra. Y la tierra estaba desordenada y vacía, y las tinieblas estaban sobre la faz del abismo". (Génesis 1:1, 2.) En la vasta eternidad, en la Ciencia y verdad del ser, las únicas realidades son el Espíritu y sus innumerables creaciones. Las tinieblas y el caos son los opuestos imaginarios de la luz, de la comprensión y de la armonía eterna, y son los elementos de la nada.
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep." (Genesis i. 1, 2.) In the vast forever, in the Science and truth of being, the only facts are Spirit and its innumerable creations. Darkness and chaos are the imaginary opposites of light, understanding, and eternal harmony, and they are the elements of nothingness.
El Jehová de la tribus judías era un Dios ideado por el hombre, propenso a la ira, al arrepentimiento y a la mutabilidad humana. El Dios de la Ciencia Cristiana es el Amor divino, universal, eterno, que no cambia, y que no causa el mal, la enfermedad ni la muerte. Es un hecho lamentable que se haya invertido la parte más antigua de las Escrituras. En el principio Dios creó al hombre a Su imagen, a la imagen de Dios; pero los mortales quisieran procrear al hombre, y hacer a Dios a la imagen humana de ellos. ¿Qué es el dios de un mortal, sino un mortal amplificado?
The Jewish tribal Jehovah was a man-projected God, liable to wrath, repentance, and human changeableness. The Christian Science God is universal, eternal, divine Love, which changeth not and causeth no evil, disease, nor death. It is indeed mournfully true that the older Scripture is reversed. In the beginning God created man in His, God's, image; but mortals would procreate man, and make God in their own human image. What is the god of a mortal, but a mortal magnified?

El Espíritu es simbolizado por la fuerza, la presencia y el poder y también por pensamientos sagrados, con alas de Amor. Esos ángeles de Su presencia, los cuales tienen el encargo más sagrado, abundan en la atmósfera espiritual de la Mente y, por consiguiente, reproducen sus propias características. Sus formas individuales no las conocemos, pero sabemos que su naturaleza está aliada con la naturaleza de Dios; y las bendiciones espirituales, así simbolizadas, son los estados exteriorizados, aunque subjetivos, de la fe y la comprensión espiritual.
Genesis i. 21. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Spirit is symbolized by strength, presence, and power, and also by holy thoughts, winged with Love. These angels of His presence, which have the holiest charge, abound in the spiritual atmosphere of Mind, and consequently reproduce their own characteristics. Their individual forms we know not, but we do know that their natures are allied to God's nature; and spiritual blessings, thus typified, are the externalized, yet subjective, states of faith and spiritual understanding.

Para dar énfasis a ese pensamiento trascendental, se reitera que Dios creó al hombre a Su imagen, para que refleje al Espíritu divino. Se infiere, entonces, que hombre es un término genérico. Los géneros masculino, femenino y neutro son conceptos humanos. En una de las lenguas antiguas la palabra que significa hombre se usa también como sinónimo de mente. Esa definición se ha debilitado por el antropomorfismo, o humanización de la Deidad. La palabra antropomórfico, en una frase como "un Dios antropomórfico", deriva de dos palabras griegas, que significan hombre y forma, y puede definirse como un intento de la mente mortal de reducir la Deidad a la corporeidad. La cualidad vivificante de la Mente es el Espíritu, no la materia. El hombre ideal corresponde a la creación, a la inteligencia y a la Verdad. La mujer ideal corresponde a la Vida y al Amor. En la Ciencia divina no tenemos tanta autoridad para considerar a Dios masculino como para considerarle femenino, porque el Amor imparte la idea más clara de la Deidad.
Genesis i. 27. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.
To emphasize this momentous thought, it is repeated that God made man in His own image, to reflect the divine Spirit. It follows that man is a generic term. Masculine, feminine, and neuter genders are human concepts. In one of the ancient languages the word for man is used also as the synonym of mind. This definition has been weakened by anthropomorphism, or a humanization of Deity. The word anthropomorphic, in such a phrase as "an anthropomorphic God," is derived from two Greek words, signifying man and form, and may be defined as a mortally mental attempt to reduce Deity to corporeality. The life-giving quality of Mind is Spirit, not matter. The ideal man corresponds to creation, to intelligence, and to Truth. The ideal woman corresponds to Life and to Love. In divine Science, we have not as much authority for considering God masculine, as we have for considering Him feminine, for Love imparts the clearest idea of Deity.
Las líneas de demarcación entre el hombre inmortal, que representa al Espíritu, y el hombre mortal, que representa al error de que la vida y la inteligencia están en la materia, demuestran que los placeres y dolores de la materia son mitos y que la creencia humana en ellos es el padre de la mitología, en la cual la materia está representada como dividida en dioses inteligentes. The lines of demarcation between immortal man, representing Spirit, and mortal man, representing the error that life and intelligence are in matter, show the pleasures and pains of matter to be myths, and human belief in them to be the father of mythology, in which matter is represented as divided into intelligent gods. Man's genuine selfhood is recognizable only in what is good and true. Man is neither self-made nor made by mortals. God created man.
El universo del Espíritu refleja el poder creador del Principio divino, o la Vida, que reproduce las innumerables formaciones de la Mente y gobierna la multiplicación de la idea compuesta, el hombre. El árbol y la hierba dan fruto no porque tengan algún poder propagativo propio, sino porque reflejan a la Mente que lo incluye todo. Un mundo material sugiere una mente mortal y un hombre que es creador. La creación divina y científica proclama a la Mente inmortal al universo creado por Dios.
The universe of Spirit reflects the creative power of the divine Principle, or Life, which reproduces the multitudinous forms of Mind and governs the multiplication of the compound idea man. The tree and herb do not yield fruit because of any propagating power of their own, but because they reflect the Mind which includes all. A material world implies a mortal mind and man a creator. The scientific divine creation declares immortal Mind and the universe created by God.
El Principio creador —la Vida, la Verdad y el Amor— es Dios. El universo refleja a Dios. No hay más de un creador y una creación. Esa creación consiste en el desarrollo de ideas espirituales y sus identidades, las cuales están comprendidas en la Mente infinita y eternamente reflejadas. Esas ideas se extienden desde lo infinitesimal hasta lo infinito, y las ideas más elevadas son los hijos y las hijas de Dios.
The creative Principle — Life, Truth, and Love — is God. The universe reflects God. There is but one creator and one creation. This creation consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and their identities, which are embraced in the infinite Mind and forever reflected. These ideas range from the infinitesimal to infinity, and the highest ideas are the sons and daughters of God.
¿Cuándo será desenmascarado el error de creer que hay vida en la materia y que el pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte son creaciones de Dios? ¿Cuándo se comprenderá que la materia no tiene ni inteligencia, ni vida, ni sensación, y que la opositora creencia es la prolífica fuente de todo sufrimiento? Dios creó todo por medio de la Mente, y lo hizo todo perfecto y eterno.
When will the error of believing that there is life in matter, and that sin, sickness, and death are creations of God, be unmasked? When will it be understood that matter has neither intelligence, life, nor sensation, and that the opposite belief is the prolific source of all suffering? God created all through Mind, and made all perfect and eternal.
Los dolores de los sentidos son saludables, si desarraigan as falsas creencias placenteras y trasplantan los afectos llevándolos de los sentidos al Alma, donde las creaciones de Dios son buenas y "alegran el corazón". Tal es la espada de la Ciencia, con la cual la Verdad decapita al error, de modo que la materialidad ceda lugar a la individualidad y al destino superiores del hombre.
The pains of sense are salutary, if they wrench away false pleasurable beliefs and transplant the affections from sense to Soul, where the creations of God are good, "rejoicing the heart." Such is the sword of Science, with which Truth decapitates error, materiality giving place to man's higher individuality and destiny.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
