1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

1 En el año tercero del reinado de Joacim rey de Judá, vino Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia a Jerusalén, y la sitió.
3 Y dijo el rey a Aspenaz, jefe de sus eunucos, que trajese de los hijos de Israel, del linaje real de los príncipes;
4 muchachos en quienes no hubiese tacha alguna, de buen parecer, enseñados en toda sabiduría, sabios en ciencia y de buen entendimiento, e idóneos para estar en el palacio del rey; y que les enseñase las letras y la lengua de los caldeos.
5 Y les señaló el rey ración para cada día, de la provisión de la comida del rey, y del vino que él bebía; y que los criase tres años, para que al fin de ellos se presentasen delante del rey.
6 Entre estos estaban Daniel, Ananías, Misael y Azarías, de los hijos de Judá.
8 Y Daniel propuso en su corazón no contaminarse con la porción de la comida del rey, ni con el vino que él bebía; pidió, por tanto, al jefe de los eunucos que no se le obligase a contaminarse.
11 Entonces dijo Daniel a Melsar, que estaba puesto por el jefe de los eunucos sobre Daniel, Ananías, Misael y Azarías,
12 Te ruego que hagas la prueba con tus siervos por diez días, y nos den legumbres a comer, y agua a beber.
13 Compara luego nuestros rostros con los rostros de los muchachos que comen de la ración de la comida del rey, y haz después con tus siervos según veas.
14 Consintió, pues, con ellos en esto, y probó con ellos diez días.
15 Y al cabo de los diez días pareció el rostro de ellos mejor y más robusto que el de los otros muchachos que comían de la porción de la comida del rey.
1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
3 And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes;
4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
5 And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.
6 Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
11 Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
12 Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
13 Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
14 So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.
10 ¿Quién hay entre vosotros que teme a Jehová, y oye la voz de su siervo? El que anda en tinieblas y carece de luz, confíe en el nombre de Jehová, y apóyese en su Dios.
10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.
9 Entonces invocarás, y te oirá Jehová; clamarás, y dirá él: Heme aquí.
10 y si dieres tu pan al hambriento, y saciares al alma afligida, en las tinieblas nacerá tu luz, y tu oscuridad será como el mediodía:
11 Jehová te pastoreará siempre, y en las sequías saciará tu alma, y dará vigor a tus huesos; y serás como huerto de riego, y como manantial de aguas, cuyas aguas nunca faltan.
9 Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am.
10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:
11 And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

14 And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.

16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

24 Ninguno puede servir a dos señores; porque o aborrecerá al uno y amará al otro, o estimará al uno y menospreciará al otro. No podéis servir a Dios y a las riquezas.
25 Por tanto os digo: No os afanéis por vuestra vida, qué habéis de comer o qué habéis de beber; ni por vuestro cuerpo, qué habéis de vestir. ¿No es la vida más que el alimento, y el cuerpo más que el vestido?
26 Mirad las aves del cielo, que no siembran, ni siegan, ni recogen en graneros; y vuestro Padre celestial las alimenta. ¿No valéis vosotros mucho más que ellas?
27 ¿Y quién de vosotros podrá, por mucho que se afane, añadir a su estatura un codo?
28 Y por el vestido, ¿por qué os afanáis? Considerad los lirios del campo, cómo crecen: no trabajan ni hilan:
29 pero os digo, que ni aun Salomón con toda su gloria se vistió así como uno de ellos.
30 Y si la hierba del campo que hoy es, y mañana se echa en el horno, Dios la viste así, ¿no hará mucho más a vosotros, hombres de poca fe?
31 No os afanéis, pues, diciendo: ¿Qué comeremos, o qué beberemos, o qué vestiremos?
32 Porque los gentiles buscan todas estas cosas; pero vuestro Padre celestial sabe que tenéis necesidad de todas estas cosas.
33 Mas buscad primeramente el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
El cuerpo no puede ser salvado sino por la Mente.
Body cannot be saved except through Mind.
¿Decís que aún no ha llegado la hora de reconocer que el Alma es sustancial y capaz de dominar el cuerpo? Recordad a Jesús, que hace casi diecinueve siglos demostró el poder del Espíritu y dijo: "El que en mí cree, las obras que yo hago, él las hará también", y que también dijo: "La hora viene, y ahora es, cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad". "He aquí ahora el tiempo aceptable; he aquí ahora el día de salvación", dijo Pablo.
Do you say the time has not yet come in which to recognize Soul as substantial and able to control the body? Remember Jesus, who nearly nineteen centuries ago demonstrated the power of Spirit and said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also," and who also said, "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth." "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation," said Paul.

Temple. Body; the idea of Life, substance, and intelligence; the superstructure of Truth; the shrine of Love;
Pregunta. — ¿Qué son el cuerpo y el Alma? Respuesta. — La identidad es el reflejo del Espíritu, el reflejo en formas múltiples y variadas del Principio viviente, el Amor. El Alma es la sustancia, Vida e inteligencia del hombre, que está individualizada, pero no en la materia. El Alma jamás puede reflejar nada que sea inferior al Espíritu.
El hombre es la expresión del Alma. Los indios norteamericanos tuvieron algunas vislumbres de la realidad fundamental, al llamar a cierto hermoso lago "La sonrisa del Gran Espíritu". Separado del hombre, el cual expresa al Alma, el Espíritu no tendría entidad; el hombre, divorciado del Espíritu, perdería su entidad. Pero no hay, no puede haber, tal separación, porque el hombre coexiste con Dios.
Question. — What are body and Soul?
Answer. — Identity is the reflection of Spirit, the reflection in multifarious forms of the living Principle, Love. Soul is the substance, Life, and intelligence of man, which is individualized, but not in matter. Soul can never reflect anything inferior to Spirit.
Man is the expression of Soul. The Indians caught some glimpses of the underlying reality, when they called a certain beautiful lake "the smile of the Great Spirit." Separated from man, who expresses Soul, Spirit would be a nonentity; man, divorced from Spirit, would lose his entity. But there is, there can be, no such division, for man is coexistent with God.
El error, acosado hasta sus límites finales, se destruye a sí mismo. El error cesará de afirmar que el alma está en el cuerpo, que la vida y la inteligencia están en la materia y que esa materia es el hombre. Dios es el Principio del hombre, y el hombre es la idea de Dios. Por tanto, el hombre no es ni mortal ni material.
Aprende eso, oh mortal, y busca seriamente el estado espiritual del hombre, que está fuera de toda entidad material.
Error will cease to claim that soul is in body, that life and intelligence are in matter, and that this matter is man. God is the Principle of man, and man is the idea of God. Hence man is not mortal nor material.
Learn this, O mortal, and earnestly seek the spiritual status of man, which is outside of all material selfhood.
La Ciencia Cristiana trae al cuerpo la luz solar de la Verdad, que vigoriza y purifica. La Ciencia Cristiana obra como un alterante, neutralizando el error con la Verdad. Cambia las secreciones, expulsa humores, disuelve tumores, relaja músculos rígidos y restaura la salud a huesos cariados. El efecto de esa Ciencia es incitar a la mente humana a un cambio de base, sobre la cual pueda dar lugar a la armonía de la Mente divina.
Los experimentos han confirmado el hecho de que la Mente gobierna al cuerpo, no sólo en un caso, sino en todos los caso.
Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies. Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth. It changes the secretions, expels humors, dissolves tumors, relaxes rigid muscles, restores carious bones to soundness. The effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind.
Experiments have favored the fact that Mind governs the body, not in one instance, but in every instance.
Cuando decís: "El cuerpo del hombre es material", yo digo con Pablo: Desead más bien "estar ausentes del cuerpo, y presentes al Señor". Abandonad vuestra creencia material de que hay mente en la materia, y tened una sola Mente, a saber, Dios; porque esa Mente forma su propia semejanza.
When you say, "Man's body is material," I say with Paul: Be "willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." Give up your material belief of mind in matter, and have but one Mind, even God; for this Mind forms its own likeness.
Conocí a una persona que de muy joven adoptó el sistema de Graham para curarse de dispepsia. Durante muchos años sólo comió pan y verduras y no bebió más que agua. … Pasó muchos penosos años atormentado por el hambre y la debilidad, casi en estado de inanición, y finalmente decidió morir, habiendo agotado todos los recursos de la pericia de los médicos, quienes bondadosamente le informaron que su única alternativa era la muerte. En ese momento la Ciencia Cristiana le salvó, y ahora goza de perfecta salud, sin vestigio alguno de su antigua enfermedad.
I knew a person who when quite a child adopted the Graham system to cure dyspepsia. For many years, he ate only bread and vegetables, and drank nothing but water. … He passed many weary years in hunger and weakness, almost in starvation, and finally made up his mind to die, having exhausted the skill of the doctors, who kindly informed him that death was indeed his only alternative. At this point Christian Science saved him, and he is now in perfect health without a vestige of the old complaint.
El alimento tuvo menos poder para ayudarlo o perjudicarlo después que se valió del hecho de que la Mente gobierna al hombre, y también tuvo menos fe en los llamados placeres y dolores de la materia. Afanándose menos en lo que había de comer o beber, consultando menos al estómago y más a Dios sobre la economía de la vida, recuperó sus fuerzas y su peso rápidament.
Aprendió que un dispéptico estaba muy lejos de ser la imagen y semejanza de Dios —lejos de "señorear en los peces del mar, en las aves de los cielos, en las bestias", si el comer un trozo de carne animal podía subyugarlo. Finalmente llegó a la conclusión de que Dios jamás hizo un dispéptico, mientras que el temor, la higiene, la fisiología y la física habían hecho que él lo fuera, en contra de los mandatos de Dios.
Food had less power to help or to hurt him after he had availed himself of the fact that Mind governs man, and he also had less faith in the so-called pleasures and pains of matter. Taking less thought about what he should eat or drink, consulting the stomach less about the economy of living and God more, he recovered strength and flesh rapidly.
He learned that a dyspeptic was very far from being the image and likeness of God, — far from having "dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle," if eating a bit of animal flesh could overpower him. He finally concluded that God never made a dyspeptic, while fear, hygiene, physiology, and physics had made him one, contrary to His commands.
Tarde o temprano aprenderemos que las cadenas de la capacidad finita del hombre las forja la ilusión de que él vive en el cuerpo en lugar de en el Alma, en la materia en lugar de en el Espíritu.
Sooner or later we shall learn that the fetters of man's finite capacity are forged by the illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter instead of in Spirit.
Cuando se presenten los primeros síntomas de enfermedad, combatid el testimonio de los sentidos materiales con la Ciencia divina. Dejad que vuestro concepto superior de justicia destruya el falso proceso de las opiniones mortales que llamáis ley, y entonces no se os recluirá en un cuarto de enfermo ni se os pondrá en un lecho de dolor en pago del último cuadrante, la última pena exigida por el error. "Ponte de acuerdo con tu adversario pronto, entre tanto que estás con él en el camino". No permitáis que ninguna pretensión de pecado o enfermedad se desarrolle en el pensamiento. Desechadla con la constante convicción de que es ilegítima, porque sabéis que Dios no es el autor de la enfermedad, como no lo es del pecado. No tenéis ninguna ley de Dios que apoye la necesidad de pecado o de enfermedad, sino que tenéis autoridad divina para negar esa necesidad y sanar a los enfermos.
When the first symptoms of disease appear, dispute the testimony of the material senses with divine Science. … Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon the thought. Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that it is illegitimate, because you know that God is no more the author of sickness than He is of sin. You have no law of His to support the necessity either of
sin or sickness, but you have divine authority for denying that necessity and healing the sick.
En lugar de una ciega y dócil sumisión a los estados incipientes o avanzados de enfermedad, levantaos en rebelión contra ellos. Exterminad la creencia de que podáis experimentar un solo dolor intruso que no pueda ser eliminado por el poder de la Mente, y de esa manera podéis evitar el desarrollo del dolor en el cuerpo. No hay ley de Dios que impida ese resultado.
Instead of blind and calm submission to the incipient or advanced stages of disease, rise in rebellion against them. Banish the belief that you can possibly entertain a single intruding pain which cannot be ruled out by the might of Mind, and in this way you can prevent the development of pain in the body. No law of God hinders this result.
Estad de portero a la puerta del pensamiento. Admitiendo sólo las conclusiones que queráis que se realicen en resultados corporales, os gobernaréis armoniosamente. Cuando se presente la condición que según vuestra creencia ocasiona la enfermedad, ya se trate de aire, ejercicio, herencia, contagio o accidente, desempeñad entonces vuestro oficio de portero y cerrad el paso a tales pensamientos y temores malsanos. Excluid de la mente mortal los errores nocivos; entonces el cuerpo no podrá sufrir a causa de ellos. Los resultados de dolor o de placer tienen que provenir de la mente, y como un guardián que abandona su puesto admitimos la creencia intrusa, olvidando que con la ayuda divina podemos prohibirle la entrada.
Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously. When the condition is present which you say induces disease, whether it be air, exercise, heredity, contagion, or accident, then perform your office as porter and shut out these unhealthy thoughts and fears. Exclude from mortal mind the offending errors; then the body cannot suffer from them. The issues of pain or pleasure must come through mind, and like a watchman forsaking his post, we admit the intruding belief, forgetting that through divine help we can forbid this entrance.
La Mente tiene dominio sobre los sentidos corporales y puede vencer a la enfermedad, al pecado y a la muerte. Ejerced esa autoridad otorgada por Dios. Tomad posesión de vuestro cuerpo y regid sus sensaciones y funciones. Levantaos en la fuerza del Espíritu para resistir todo lo que sea desemejante al bien. Dios ha hecho al hombre capaz de eso, y nada puede invalidar la capacidad y el poder divinamente otorgados al hombre.
Mind is the master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death. Exercise this God-given authority. Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
