11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judæa again.
11 Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
24 De cierto, de cierto os digo: El que oye mi palabra, y cree al que me envió, tiene vida eterna; y no vendrá a condenación, mas ha pasado de muerte a vida.
25 De cierto, de cierto os digo: Viene la hora, y ahora es, cuando los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios; y los que la oyeren vivirán.
26 Porque como el Padre tiene vida en sí mismo, así también ha dado al Hijo el tener vida en sí mismo;
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1 Dios, habiendo hablado muchas veces y de muchas maneras en otro tiempo a los padres por los profetas,
2 en estos postreros días nos ha hablado por el Hijo, a quien constituyó heredero de todo,
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things,
14 Así que, por cuanto los hijos participaron de carne y sangre, él también participó de lo mismo, para destruir por medio de la muerte al que tenía el imperio de la muerte, esto es, al diablo,
15 y librar a todos los que por el temor de la muerte estaban durante toda la vida sujetos a servidumbre.
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
20 Pero sabemos que el Hijo de Dios ha venido, y nos ha dado entendimiento para conocer al que es verdadero; y estamos en el verdadero, en su Hijo Jesucristo. Este es el verdadero Dios, y la vida eterna.
20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
10 Sé fiel hasta la muerte, y yo te daré la corona de la vida.
10 …be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Las piedras principales en el templo de la Ciencia Cristiana han de encontrarse en los siguientes postulados: que la Vida es Dios, el bien, y no el mal; que el Alma es incapaz de pecar y no ha de encontrarse en el cuerpo; que el Espíritu no está materializado ni puede ser materializado; que la Vida no está sujeta a la muerte; que el hombre espiritual y verdadero no tiene nacimiento, vida material ni muerte.
La Ciencia revela las gloriosas posibilidades del hombre inmortal, jamás limitado por los sentidos mortales. El elemento-Cristo en el Mesías hizo que fuera el Mostrador del camino, la Verdad y la Vida.
La Verdad eterna destruye lo que los mortales parecen haber aprendido del error, y la existencia real del hombre como hijo de Dios sale a la luz. La Verdad demostrada es vida eterna. El hombre mortal nunca podrá elevarse de los escombros temporales del error, de la creencia en el pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte, hasta que aprenda que Dios es la única Vida. La creencia de que la vida y la sensación están en el cuerpo debe ser vencida comprendiendo lo que constituye al hombre como imagen de Dios. Entonces el Espíritu habrá vencido a la carne.
The chief stones in the temple of Christian Science are to be found in the following postulates: that Life is God, good, and not evil; that Soul is sinless, not to be found in the body; that Spirit is not, and cannot be, materialized; that Life is not subject to death; that the spiritual real man has no birth, no material life, and no death.
Science reveals the glorious possibilities of immortal man, forever unlimited by the mortal senses. The Christ-element in the Messiah made him the Way-shower, Truth and Life.
The eternal Truth destroys what mortals seem to have learned from error, and man's real existence as a child of God comes to light. Truth demonstrated is eternal life. Mortal man can never rise from the temporal débris of error, belief in sin, sickness, and death, until he learns that God is the only Life. The belief that life and sensation are in the body should be overcome by the understanding of what constitutes man as the image of God. Then Spirit will have overcome the flesh.
El hecho de que el Cristo, o la Verdad, venció y todavía vence a la muerte, prueba que el "rey de los espantos" es sólo una creencia mortal, o un error, que la Verdad destruye con la evidencia espiritual de la Vida; y eso demuestra que lo que a los sentidos parece ser muerte no es sino una ilusión mortal, pues para el hombre real y el universo real no existe el proceso muerte.
The fact that the Christ, or Truth, overcame and still overcomes death proves the "king of terrors" to be but a mortal belief, or error, which Truth destroys with the spiritual evidences of Life; and this shows that what appears to the senses to be death is but a mortal illusion, for to the real man and the real universe there is no death-process.
No creas en ninguna supuesta necesidad de pecar, enfermar o morir, sabiendo (como debieras saber) que Dios jamás exige obediencia a una llamada ley material, puesto que no existe tal ley. La creencia en el pecado y la muerte es destruida por la ley de Dios, la cual es la ley de la Vida y no de la muerte, de la armonía y no de la discordia, del Espíritu y no de la carne.
Do not believe in any supposed necessity for sin, disease, or death, knowing (as you ought to know) that God never requires obedience to a so-called material law, for no such law exists. The belief in sin and death is destroyed by the law of God, which is the law of Life instead of death, of harmony instead of discord, of Spirit instead of the flesh.
Es posible que durante las épocas sensuales, no se alcance la Ciencia Cristiana absoluta antes del cambio llamado muerte, porque no tenemos el poder de demostrar lo que no comprendemos. Pero el yo humano debe evangelizarse. Dios exige que aceptemos esa tarea con amor hoy mismo y que abandonemos lo material tan pronto como sea posible, y nos ocupemos en lo espiritual, lo cual determina lo exterior y verdadero.
During the sensual ages, absolute Christian Science may not be achieved prior to the change called death, for we have not the power to demonstrate what we do not understand. But the human self must be evangelized. This task God demands us to accept lovingly to-day, and to abandon so fast as practical the material, and to work out the spiritual which determines the outward and actual.
Lo divino tiene que vencer lo humano en todo punto. La Ciencia que Jesús enseñó y vivió tiene que triunfar sobre todas las creencias materiales acerca de la vida, la sustancia y la inteligencia, y sobre la multitud de errores que resultan de tales creencias.
El Amor tiene que triunfar sobre el odio. La Verdad y la Vida tienen que sellar la victoria sobre el error y la muerte, antes que puedan reemplazarse las espinas por una corona, antes que venga la bendición: "Bien, buen siervo y fiel" y antes que pueda demostrarse la supremacía del Espíritu.
The divine must overcome the human at every point. The Science Jesus taught and lived must triumph over all material beliefs about life, substance, and intelligence, and the multitudinous errors growing from such beliefs.
Love must triumph over hate. Truth and Life must seal the victory over error and death, before the thorns can be laid aside for a crown, the benediction follow, "Well done, good and faithful servant," and the supremacy of Spirit be demonstrated.
Cuando el ser sea comprendido, se reconocerá que la Vida no es ni material ni finita, sino infinita —que es Dios, el bien universal; y la creencia de que la vida o la mente estuvo alguna vez en una forma finita, o el bien en el mal, será destruida. Entonces se comprenderá que el Espíritu nunca entró en la materia y, por tanto, nunca fue resucitado de la materia. Cuando el hombre haya alcanzado la existencia espiritual y la comprensión de lo que es Dios, no podrá comunicarse más con la materia; ni podrá retornar a ella, como tampoco un árbol puede retornar a su semilla. Ni parecerá el hombre ser corpóreo, sino que será una consciencia individual, caracterizada por el Espíritu divino como idea, y no como materia.
El gozo sin pecado —la perfecta armonía e inmortalidad de la Vida, que posee sin límites la belleza y bondad divinas, sin un solo placer o dolor corporal— constituye el único hombre verdadero e indestructible, cuyo ser es espiritual. Ese estado de existencia es científico e intacto —una perfección que pueden discernir sólo aquellos que tienen la comprensión final del Cristo en la Ciencia divina. La muerte jamás puede apresurar ese estado de existencia, porque hay que vencer a la muerte y no someterse a ella, antes que aparezca la inmortalidad.
When being is understood, Life will be recognized as neither material nor finite, but as infinite, — as God, universal good; and the belief that life, or mind, was ever in a finite form, or good in evil, will be destroyed. Then it will be understood that Spirit never entered matter and was therefore never raised from matter. When advanced to spiritual being and the understanding of God, man can no longer commune with matter; neither can he return to it, any more than a tree can return to its seed. Neither will man seem to be corporeal, but he will be an individual consciousness, characterized by the divine Spirit as idea, not matter.
The sinless joy, — the perfect harmony and immortality of Life, possessing unlimited divine beauty and goodness without a single bodily pleasure or pain, — constitutes the only veritable, indestructible man, whose being is spiritual. This state of existence is scientific and intact, — a perfection discernible only by those who have the final understanding of Christ in divine Science. Death can never hasten this state of existence, for death must be overcome, not submitted to, before immortality appears.
Si el hombre nunca ha de vencer la muerte, ¿por qué dicen las Escrituras: "El postrer enemigo que será destruido es la muerte"? El tenor de la Palabra indica que obtendremos la victoria sobre la muerte en la proporción en que venzamos al pecado. La gran dificultad reside en la ignorancia de lo que es Dios. Dios, la Vida, la Verdad y el Amor hacen imperecedero al hombre. Debe reconocerse que la Mente inmortal, la cual gobierna todo, es suprema en el llamado reino físico, tanto como en el espiritual.
If man is never to overcome death, why do the Scriptures say, "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death"? The tenor of the Word shows that we shall obtain the victory over death in proportion as we overcome sin. The great difficulty lies in ignorance of what God is. God, Life, Truth, and Love make man undying. Immortal Mind, governing all, must be acknowledged as supreme in the physical realm, so-called, as well as in the spiritual.
El período necesario para que se desvanezca de la consciencia este sueño de vida material, que lleva en sí sus llamados placeres y dolores, "nadie sabe... ni el Hijo, sino el Padre". Ese período será de más larga o más corta duración, según sea la tenacidad del error.
The period required for this dream of material life, embracing its so-called pleasures and pains, to vanish from consciousness, "knoweth no man ... neither the Son, but the Father." This period will be of longer or shorter duration according to the tenacity of error.
Si Jesús despertó a Lázaro del sueño, o ilusión, de la muerte, eso probó que el Cristo podía corregir un concepto falso.
If Jesus awakened Lazarus from the dream, illusion, of death, this proved that the Christ could improve on a false sense.
Si el Principio, la regla y la demostración de la existencia del hombre no son comprendidos en lo más mínimo antes que lo que se llama muerte sorprenda a los mortales, éstos no ascenderán espiritualmente en la escala de la existencia debido a esa sola experiencia, sino que se quedarán tan materiales como antes de la transición, aún buscando la felicidad mediante un concepto material, en vez de buscarla mediante un concepto espiritual de la vida, e impulsados por móviles egoístas e inferiores.
If the Principle, rule, and demonstration of man's being are not in the least understood before what is termed death overtakes mortals, they will rise no higher spiritually in the scale of existence on account of that single experience, but will remain as material as before the transition, still seeking happiness through a material, instead of through a spiritual sense of life, and from selfish and inferior motives.
La salvación universal se basa en progreso y probación, y es inalcanzable sin ellos. El cielo no es una localidad, sino un estado divino de la Mente, en el cual todas las manifestaciones de la Mente son armoniosas e inmortales, porque el pecado no está ahí y se encuentra que el hombre no tiene justicia propia, sino que está en posesión de la "mente del Señor", según afirman las Escrituras.
Universal salvation rests on progression and probation, and is unattainable without them. Heaven is not a locality, but a divine state of Mind in which all the manifestations of Mind are harmonious and immortal, because sin is not there and man is found having no righteousness of his own, but in possession of "the mind of the Lord," as the Scripture says.
A medida que los mortales alcancen conceptos más correctos de Dios y del hombre, innumerables objetos de la creación, que antes eran invisibles, se harán visibles. Cuando comprendamos que la Vida es Espíritu, nunca en la materia ni de la materia, esa comprensión se desarrollará en autocompleción, encontrándolo todo en Dios, el bien, sin necesitar ninguna otra consciencia.
Cuando aprendamos el camino en la Ciencia Cristiana y reconozcamos al ser espiritual del hombre, veremos y comprenderemos la creación de Dios —todas las glorias de la tierra y del cielo y del hombre.
As mortals gain more correct views of God and man, multitudinous objects of creation, which before were invisible, will become visible. When we realize that Life is Spirit, never in nor of matter, this understanding will expand into self-completeness, finding all in God, good, and needing no other consciousness.
When we learn the way in Christian Science and recognize man's spiritual being, we shall behold and understand God's creation, — all the glories of earth and heaven and man.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
