1 En aquellos días Ezequías cayó enfermo de muerte. Y vino a él el profeta Isaías hijo de Amoz, y le dijo: Jehová dice así: Ordena tu casa, porque morirás, y no vivirás.

1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, saying,
3 I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

3 Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.
4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

1 Vi descender del cielo a otro ángel fuerte, envuelto en una nube, con el arco iris sobre su cabeza; y su rostro era como el sol, y sus pies como columnas de fuego.
2 Tenía en su mano un librito abierto; y puso su pie derecho sobre el mar, y el izquierdo sobre la tierra;
3 Y clamó a gran voz, como ruge un león;
8 La voz que oí del cielo habló otra vez conmigo, y dijo: Ve y toma el librito que está abierto en la mano del ángel que está en pie sobre el mar y sobre la tierra.
9 Y fui al ángel, diciéndole que me diese el librito. Y él me dijo: Toma, y cómelo; y te amargará el vientre, pero en tu boca será dulce como la miel.

1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
La curación física en la Ciencia Cristiana resulta ahora, como en tiempos de Jesús, de la operación del Principio divino, ante la cual el pecado y la enfermedad pierden su realidad en la consciencia humana y desaparecen tan natural y tan inevitablemente como las tinieblas ceden lugar a la luz y el pecado a la reforma. Ahora, como entonces, estas obras poderosas no son sobrenaturales, sino supremamente naturales. Son la señal de Emanuel, o "Dios con nosotros" —una influencia divina que está siempre presente en la consciencia humana y se repite, viniendo ahora como fue prometida antaño:

The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation. Now, as then, these mighty works are not supernatural, but supremely natural. They are the sign of Immanuel, or "God with us," — a divine influence ever present in human consciousness and repeating itself, coming now as was promised aforetime,
To preach deliverance to the captives [of sense],
And recovering of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty them that are bruised.
Desde el comienzo hasta el fin, las Escrituras están llenas de relatos del triunfo del Espíritu, la Mente, sobre la materia. Moisés probó el poder de la Mente mediante lo que los hombres llamaron milagros; igual hicieron Josué, Elías y Elíseo.

From beginning to end, the Scriptures are full of accounts of the triumph of Spirit, Mind, over matter. Moses proved the power of Mind by what men called miracles; so did Joshua, Elijah, and Elisha.
The decisions by vote of Church Councils as to what should and should not be considered Holy Writ; the manifest mistakes in the ancient versions; the thirty thousand different readings in the Old Testament, and the three hundred thousand in the New, — these facts show how a mortal and material sense stole into the divine record, with its own hue darkening to some extent the inspired pages. But mistakes could neither wholly obscure the divine Science of the Scriptures seen from Genesis to Revelation, mar the demonstration of Jesus, nor annul the healing by the prophets, who foresaw that "the stone which the builders rejected" would become "the head of the corner."

In the year 1866, I discovered the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named my discovery Christian Science. God had been graciously preparing me during many years for the reception of this final revelation of the absolute divine Principle of scientific mental healing.

For three years after my discovery, I sought the solution of this problem of Mind-healing, searched the Scriptures and read little else, kept aloof from society, and devoted time and energies to discovering a positive rule.… I knew the Principle of all harmonious Mind-action to be God, and that cures were produced in primitive Christian healing by holy, uplifting faith; but I must know the Science of this healing, and I won my way to absolute conclusions through divine revelation, reason, and demonstration.
San Juan escribe en el capítulo décimo de su libro del Apocalipsis: —

St. John writes, in the tenth chapter of his book of Revelation: —

Ese ángel tenía en su mano "un librito" abierto para que todos lo leyeran y comprendieran. ¿Contenía ese mismo libro la revelación de la Ciencia divina, cuyo "pie derecho", o poder dominante, estaba sobre el mar —sobre el error elemental y latente, el origen de todas las formas visibles del error? El pie izquierdo del ángel estaba sobre la tierra; esto es, un poder secundario se empleaba contra el error visible y el pecado audible. La "voz callada y suave"* del pensamiento científico cruza continentes y océanos, hasta llegar a los extremos más remotos del globo. La voz inaudible de la Verdad es para la mente humana como cuando "ruge un león". Se oye en el desierto y en los lugares tenebrosos del temor. Despierta a los "siete truenos" del mal e incita a sus fuerzas latentes a que den voz a la gama completa de tonos secretos. This angel had in his hand "a little book," open for all to read and understand. Did this same book contain the revelation of divine Science, the "right foot" or dominant power of which was upon the sea, — upon elementary, latent error, the source of all error's visible forms? The angel's left foot was upon the earth; that is, a secondary power was exercised upon visible error and audible sin. The "still, small voice" of scientific thought reaches over continent and ocean to the globe's remotest bound. The inaudible voice of Truth is, to the human mind, "as when a lion roareth." It is heard in the desert and in dark places of fear. It arouses the "seven thunders" of evil, and stirs their latent forces to utter the full diapason of secret tones. Then is the power of Truth demonstrated, — made manifest in the destruction of error. Then will a voice from harmony cry: "Go and take the little book. ... Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey." Mortals, obey the heavenly evangel. Take divine Science. Read this book from beginning to end. Study it, ponder it. It will be indeed sweet at its first taste, when it heals you; but murmur not over Truth, if you find its digestion bitter.
El poder sanativo de la Verdad se demuestra extensamente hoy en día como una Ciencia inmanente y eterna, no como una exhibición fenomenal. Su aparecimiento es el nuevo advenimiento del evangelio: "En la tierra paz, buena voluntad para con los hombres". Ese advenimiento, según fue prometido por el Maestro, es para establecer ese poder como una administración permanente de la gracia de Dios entre los hombres; pero la misión de la Ciencia Cristiana ahora, como en los tiempos de su demostración primitiva, no es principalmente una misión de curación física. Ahora, como entonces, señales y prodigios se efectúan en la curación metafísica de la enfermedad física; pero esas señales sirven solamente para demostrar el origen divino de esa curación —para atestiguar la realidad de la misión superior del poder del Cristo, la de quitar los pecados del mundo.
To-day the healing power of Truth is widely demonstrated as an immanent, eternal Science, instead of a phenomenal exhibition. Its appearing is the coming anew of the gospel of "on earth peace, good-will toward men." This coming, as was promised by the Master, is for its establishment as a permanent dispensation among men; but the mission of Christian Science now, as in the time of its earlier demonstration, is not primarily one of physical healing. Now, as then, signs and wonders are wrought in the metaphysical healing of physical disease; but these signs are only to demonstrate its divine origin, — to attest the reality of the higher mission of the Christ-power to take away the sins of the world.
La idea inmortal de la Verdad recorre los siglos, cobijando bajo sus alas a enfermos y pecadores. Mi esperanza cansada trata de ver la realización de ese día feliz en que el hombre reconocerá la Ciencia del Cristo y amará a su prójimo como a sí mismo —en que comprenderá la omnipotencia de Dios y el poder sanador del Amor divino en lo que ha hecho y está haciendo por la humanidad. Las promesas se cumplirán. La hora de la reaparición de la curación divina se presenta en todo tiempo; y quienquiera que ponga su todo terrenal sobre el altar de la Ciencia divina, bebe ahora de la copa del Cristo y es dotado del espíritu y del poder de la curación cristiana.
En las palabras de San Juan: "Os dará otro Consolador, para que esté con vosotros para siempre". Entiendo que ese Consolador es la Ciencia Divina.
Truth's immortal idea is sweeping down the centuries, gathering beneath its wings the sick and sinning. My weary hope tries to realize that happy day, when man shall recognize the Science of Christ and love his neighbor as himself, — when he shall realize God's omnipotence and the healing power of the divine Love in what it has done and is doing for mankind. The promises will be fulfilled. The time for the reappearing of the divine healing is throughout all time; and whosoever layeth his earthly all on the altar of divine Science, drinketh of Christ's cup now, and is endued with the spirit and power of Christian healing.
In the words of St. John: "He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever." This Comforter I understand to be Divine Science.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
