1. Ten misericordia de mí, oh Dios, porque me devoraría el hombre; me oprime combatiéndome cada día.
2. Todo el día mis enemigos me pisotean; porque muchos son los que pelean contra mí con soberbia.
3. En el día que temo, yo en ti confío.
4. En Dios alabaré su palabra; en Dios he confiado; no temeré; ¿Qué puede hacerme el hombre?
5. Todos los días ellos pervierten mi causa; contra mí son todos sus pensamientos para mal.

1. Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.
2. Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.

4. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
5. Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

Leccion Sermon
1 Así dice Jehová a su ungido,
5 Yo soy Jehová, y ninguno más hay; no hay Dios fuera de mí. Yo te ceñiré, aunque tú no me conociste,
22 Mirad a mí, y sed salvos, todos los términos de la tierra, porque yo soy Dios, y no hay más.
1 Thus saith the Lord to his anointed,
5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
9 Y vio Sara que el hijo de Agar la egipcia, el cual ésta le había dado a luz a Abraham, se burlaba de su hijo Isaac.
10 Por tanto, dijo a Abraham: Echa a esta sierva y a su hijo, porque el hijo de esta sierva no ha de heredar con Isaac mi hijo.
11 Este dicho pareció grave en gran manera a Abraham a causa de su hijo.
12 Entonces dijo Dios a Abraham: No te parezca grave a causa del muchacho y de tu sierva; en todo lo que te dijere Sara, oye su voz, porque en Isaac te será llamada descendencia.
13 Y también del hijo de la sierva haré una nación, porque es tu descendiente.
14 Entonces Abraham se levantó muy de mañana, y tomó pan, y un odre de agua, y lo dio a Agar, poniéndolo sobre su hombro, y le entregó el muchacho, y la despidió. Y ella salió y anduvo errante por el desierto de Beerseba.
15 Y le faltó el agua del odre, y echó al muchacho debajo de un arbusto,
16 Y se fue y se sentó enfrente, a distancia de un tiro de arco; porque decía: No veré cuando el muchacho muera. Y cuando ella se sentó enfrente, el muchacho alzó su voz y lloró.
17 Y oyó Dios la voz del muchacho; y el ángel de Dios llamó a Agar desde el cielo, y le dijo: ¿Qué tienes, Agar? No temas; porque Dios ha oído la voz del muchacho en donde está.
18 Levántate, alza al muchacho, y sostenlo con tu mano, porque yo haré de él una gran nación.
19 Entonces Dios le abrió los ojos, y vio una fuente de agua; y fue y llenó el odre de agua, y dio de beber al muchacho.
20 Y Dios estaba con el muchacho; y creció, y habitó en el desierto, y fue tirador de arco.
9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.
10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.
11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son.
12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.
14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.
15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.
16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.
17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.
19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
1 Alzaré mis ojos a los montes; ¿De dónde vendrá mi socorro?
2 Mi socorro viene de Jehová, que hizo los cielos y la tierra.
3 No dará tu pie al resbaladero, ni se dormirá el que te guarda.
7 Jehová te guardará de todo mal; el guardará tu alma.
8 Jehová guardará tu salida y tu entrada desde ahora y para siempre.
1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
4 Salió entonces del campamento de los filisteos un paladín, el cual se llamaba Goliat, de Gat, y tenía de altura seis codos y un palmo.
10 Y añadió el filisteo: Hoy yo he desafiado al campamento de Israel; dadme un hombre que pelee conmigo.
11 Oyendo Saúl y todo Israel estas palabras del filisteo, se turbaron y tuvieron gran miedo.
32 Y dijo David a Saúl: No desmaye el corazón de ninguno a causa de él; tu siervo irá y peleará contra este filisteo.
33 Dijo Saúl a David: No podrás tú ir contra aquel filisteo, para pelear con él; porque tú eres muchacho, y él un hombre de guerra desde su juventud.
37 Añadió David: Jehová, que me ha librado de las garras del león y de las garras del oso, él también me librará de la mano de este filisteo. Y dijo Saúl a David: Vé, y Jehová esté contigo.
38 Y Saúl vistió a David con sus ropas, y puso sobre su cabeza un casco de bronce, y le armó de coraza.
39 Y ciñó David su espada sobre sus vestidos, y probó a andar, porque nunca había hecho la prueba. Y dijo David a Saúl: Yo no puedo andar con esto, porque nunca lo practiqué. Y David echó de sí aquellas cosas.
40 Y tomó su cayado en su mano, y escogió cinco piedras lisas del arroyo, y las puso en el saco pastoril, en el zurrón que traía, y tomó su honda en su mano, y se fue hacia el filisteo.
45 Entonces dijo David al filisteo:
46 Jehová te entregará hoy en mi mano,
47 Y sabrá toda esta congregación que Jehová no salva con espada y con lanza; porque de Jehová es la batalla, y él os entregará en nuestras manos.
48 Y aconteció que cuando el filisteo se levantó y echó a andar para ir al encuentro de David, David se dio prisa, y corrió a la línea de batalla contra el filisteo.
49 Y metiendo David su mano en la bolsa, tomó de allí una piedra, y la tiró con la honda, e hirió al filisteo en la frente; y la piedra quedó clavada en la frente, y cayó sobre su rostro en tierra.
50 Así venció David al filisteo con honda y piedra; e hirió al filisteo y lo mató, sin tener David espada en su mano.
4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.
10 And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
11 When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.
32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.
38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.
40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
45 Then said David to the Philistine,
46 This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand;
47 And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands.
48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
1 Jehová es mi pastor; nada me faltará.
2 En lugares de delicados pastos me hará descansar; junto a aguas de reposo me pastoreará.
3 Confortará mi alma; me guiará por sendas de justicia por amor de su nombre.
4 Aunque ande en valle de sombra de muerte, no temeré mal alguno, porque tú estarás conmigo; tu vara y tu cayado me infundirán aliento.
5 Aderezas mesa delante de mí en presencia de mis angustiadores; unges mi cabeza con aceite; mi copa está rebosando.
6 Ciertamente el bien y la misericordia me seguirán todos los días de mi vida, y en la casa de Jehová moraré por largos días.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
El hecho central presentado por la Biblia es la superioridad del poder espiritual sobre el poder físico.
The central fact of the Bible is the superiority of spiritual over physical power.
"No tendrás dioses ajenos delante de mí" (Éxodo 20:3). El Primer Mandamiento es mi texto favorito. Demuestra Ciencia Cristiana. Inculca la triunidad de Dios, el Espíritu, la Mente; significa que el hombre no debe tener otro espíritu o mente sino Dios, el bien eterno, y que todos los hombres han de tener una sola Mente. El Principio divino del Primer Mandamiento es la base de la Ciencia del ser, por la cual el hombre demuestra salud, santidad y vida eterna.
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me." (Exodus xx. 3.) The First Commandment is my favorite text. It demonstrates Christian Science. It inculcates the tri-unity of God, Spirit, Mind; it signifies that man shall have no other spirit or mind but God, eternal good, and that all men shall have one Mind. The divine Principle of the First Commandment bases the Science of being, by which man demonstrates health, holiness, and life eternal.
Toda función del hombre real está gobernada por la Mente divina. … La Mente divina que creó al hombre, mantiene Su propia imagen y semejanza. … Todo lo que realmente existe es la Mente divina y su idea, y en esa Mente todo el ser se halla armonioso y eterno. El camino recto y estrecho consiste en ver y reconocer ese hecho, ceder a ese poder y seguir las indicaciones de la verdad.
Every function of the real man is governed by the divine Mind. … The divine Mind that made man maintains His own image and likeness. … All that really exists is the divine Mind and its idea, and in this Mind the entire being is found harmonious and eternal. The straight and narrow way is to see and acknowledge this fact, yield to this power, and follow the leadings of truth.
Dios es la Vida, o inteligencia, que forma y preserva la individualidad e identidad tanto de los animales como de los hombres. Dios no puede volverse finito y estar limitado dentro de confines materiales.
God is the Life, or intelligence, which forms and preserves the individuality and identity of animals as well as of men. God cannot become finite, and be limited within material bounds.
Hay un solo camino —a saber, Dios y Su idea— que nos lleva al ser espiritual. El gobierno científico del cuerpo tiene que lograrse por medio de la Mente divina. Es imposible obtener el dominio sobre el cuerpo por otro medio. En ese punto fundamental, el tímido tradicionalismo es absolutamente inadmisible. Solo por medio de una confianza radical en la Verdad puede realizarse el poder cientifico de la curacion.
There is but one way — namely, God and His idea — which leads to spiritual being. The scientific government of the body must be attained through the divine Mind. It is impossible to gain control over the body in any other way. On this fundamental point, timid conservatism is absolutely inadmissible. Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized.
Todo lo que enseñe al hombre a tener otras leyes y a reconocer otros poderes, que no sean la Mente divina, es anticristiano. El bien que una droga venenosa parece hacer, es un mal, pues roba al hombre su confianza en Dios, la Mente omnipotente, y, según la creencia, envenena al organismo humano.
Whatever teaches man to have other laws and to acknowledge other powers than the divine Mind, is anti-Christian. The good that a poisonous drug seems to do is evil, for it robs man of
reliance on God, omnipotent Mind, and according to belief, poisons the human system.
La Ciencia Cristiana va hasta el fondo de la acción mental y revela la teodicea que indica la justicia de toda acción divina como la emanación de la Mente divina, y la consiguiente injusticia de la llamada acción opuesta —el mal, el ocultismo, la nigromancia, el mesmerismo, el magnetismo animal, el hipnotismo.
Christian Science goes to the bottom of mental action, and reveals the theodicy which indicates the rightness of all divine action, as the emanation of divine Mind, and the consequent wrongness of the opposite so-called action, — evil, occultism, necromancy, mesmerism, animal magnetism, hypnotism.
Nuestro Maestro echaba fuera los demonios (males) y sanaba a los enfermos. Se debiera poder decir de sus seguidores también que ellos echan fuera el temor y todo mal de sí mismos y de otros y sanan a los enfermos. Dios sanará a los enfermos por medio del hombre, siempre que el hombre esté gobernado por Dios. La Verdad echa fuera al error ahora, tan ciertamente como lo hacía hace diez y nueve siglos. No se ha comprendido toda la Verdad; por esa razón su poder sanador no se demuestra plenamente.
Si la enfermedad es verdadera o idea de la Verdad, no podéis destruir la enfermedad, y sería absurdo intentarlo. Clasificad, pues, a la enfermedad y al error como lo hizo nuestro Maestro cuando habló de la enferma "que Satanás había atado", y encontrad un antídoto soberano contra el error en el poder vivificante de la Verdad, que actúa sobre la creencia humana, poder que abre las puertas de la cárcel a los presos y pone al cautivo en libertad, física y moralmente.
Cuando la ilusión de enfermedad o de pecado os tiente, aferraos firmemente a Dios y Su idea. No permitáis que nada sino Su semejanza more en vuestro pensamiento. No consintáis que ni el temor ni la duda oscurezcan vuestro claro sentido y serena confianza, que el reconocimiento de la vida armoniosa — como lo es la Vida eternamente— puede destruir cualquier concepto doloroso o creencia acerca de lo que la Vida no es. Dejad que la Ciencia Cristiana, en vez del sentido corporal, apoye vuestra comprensión del ser, y esa comprensión sustituirá al error con la Verdad, reemplazará a la mortalidad con la inmortalidad y acallará a la discordancia con la armonía.
Our Master cast out devils (evils) and healed the sick. It should be said of his followers also, that they cast fear and all evil out of themselves and others and heal the sick. God will heal the sick through man, whenever man is governed by God. Truth casts out error now as surely as it did nineteen centuries ago. All of Truth is not understood; hence its healing power is not fully demonstrated.
If sickness is true or the idea of Truth, you cannot destroy sickness, and it would be absurd to try. Then classify sickness and error as our Master did, when he spoke of the sick, "whom Satan hath bound," and find a sovereign antidote for error in the life-giving power of Truth acting on human belief, a power which opens the prison doors to such as are bound, and sets the captive free physically and morally.
When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science, instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence discord with harmony.
La percepción espiritual revela las posibilidades del ser, destruye la confianza en todo lo que no sea Dios y así hace al hombre la imagen de su Hacedor de hecho y en verdad.
Spiritual perception brings out the possibilities of being, destroys reliance on aught but God, and so makes man the image of his Maker in deed and in truth.
La creencia universal en la física pesa contra las altas y poderosas verdades de la metafísica cristiana. Esa creencia general errónea, que apoya a la medicina y produce todos los resultados médicos, actúa en contra de la Ciencia Cristiana; y el porcentaje de poder del lado de esa Ciencia tiene que preponderar poderosamente sobre el poder de la creencia popular, para curar un caso cualquiera de enfermedad. La mente humana obra más poderosamente para contrarrestar las discordias de la materia y las enfermedades de la carne, a medida que pone menos peso en el platillo material o carnal de la balanza y más peso en el espiritual.
The universal belief in physics weighs against the high and mighty truths of Christian metaphysics. This erroneous general belief, which sustains medicine and produces all medical results, works against Christian Science; and the percentage of power on the side of this Science must mightily outweigh the power of popular belief in order to heal a single case of disease. The human mind acts more powerfully to offset the discords of matter and the ills of flesh, in proportion as it puts less weight into the material or fleshly scale and more weight into the spiritual scale.
Enteramente separada de la creencia y del sueño de la existencia material, está la Vida divina, que revela la comprensión espiritual y la consciencia del señorío que el hombre tiene sobre toda la tierra. Esa comprensión echa fuera el error y sana a los enfermos, y con ella podéis hablar "como quien tiene autoridad".
Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth. This understanding casts out error and heals the sick, and with it you can speak "as one having authority."
SALVACIÓN. La Vida, la Verdad y el Amor comprendidos y demostrados como supremos sobre todo; el pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte destruidos.
Salvation. Life, Truth, and Love understood and demonstrated as supreme over all; sin, sickness, and death destroyed.
El mal no es supremo; el bien no carece de poder;
Evil is not supreme; good is not helpless;
In the following Psalm one word shows, though faintly, the light which Christian Science throws on the Scriptures by substituting for the corporeal sense, the incorporeal or spiritual sense of Deity: —

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
