8. Alaben la misericordia de Jehová, y sus maravillas para con los hijos de los hombres.
9. Porque sacia al alma menesterosa, y llena de bien al alma hambrienta.
7. La ley de Jehová es perfecta, que convierte el alma; el testimonio de Jehová es fiel, que hace sabio al sencillo.
8. Los mandamientos de Jehová son rectos, que alegran el corazón; el precepto de Jehová es puro, que alumbra los ojos.
9. El temor de Jehová es limpio, que permanece para siempre; los juicios de Jehová son verdad, todos justos.
10. Deseables son más que el oro, y más que mucho oro afinado; y dulces más que miel, y que la que destila del panal.
11. Tu siervo es además amonestado con ellos; en guardarlos hay grande galardón.
8. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
9. For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
7. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
Leccion Sermon
1 A todos los sedientos: Venid a las aguas; y los que no tienen dinero, venid, comprad y comed. Venid, comprad sin dinero y sin precio, vino y leche.
2 ¿Por qué gastáis el dinero en lo que no es pan, y vuestro trabajo en lo que no sacia? Oídme atentamente, y comed del bien, y se deleitará vuestra alma con grosura.
3 Inclinad vuestro oído, y venid a mí; oíd, y vivirá vuestra alma; y haré con vosotros pacto eterno, las misericordias firmes a David.
1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
14 Y el alma del sacerdote satisfaré con abundancia, y mi pueblo será saciado de mi bien, dice Jehová.

35 Y Jesús le reprendió, diciendo: Cállate, y sal de él. Entonces el demonio, derribándole en medio de ellos, salió de él, y no le hizo daño alguno.

33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,
34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.
1 En esto, juntándose por millares la multitud, tanto que unos a otros se atropellaban,
13 Y le dijo uno de la multitud :Maestro, di a mi hermano que parta conmigo la herencia.
14 Mas él le dijo: Hombre, ¿quién me ha puesto sobre vosotros como juez o partidor?
15 Y les dijo: Mirad, y guardaos de toda avaricia; porque la vida del hombre no consiste en la abundancia de los bienes que posee.
16 También les refirió una parábola, diciendo: La heredad de un hombre rico había producido mucho.
17 Y él pensaba dentro de sí, diciendo: ¿Qué haré, porque no tengo dónde guardar mis frutos?
18 Y dijo: Esto haré: derribaré mis graneros, y los edificaré mayores, y allí guardaré todos mis frutos y mis bienes;
19 Y diré a mi alma: Alma, muchos bienes tienes guardados para muchos años; repósate, come, bebe, regocíjate.
20 Pero Dios le dijo: Necio, esta noche vienen a pedirte tu alma; y lo que has provisto, ¿de quién será?
21 Así es el que hace para sí tesoro, y no es rico para con Dios.
22 Dijo luego a sus discípulos: Por tanto os digo: No os afanéis por vuestra vida, qué comeréis; ni por el cuerpo, qué vestiréis.
23 La vida es más que la comida, y el cuerpo que el vestido.
24 Considerad los cuervos, que ni siembran, ni siegan; que ni tienen despensa, ni granero, y Dios los alimenta. ¿No valéis vosotros mucho más que las aves?
28 Y si así viste Dios la hierba que hoy está en el campo, y mañana es echada al horno, ¿cuánto más a vosotros, hombres de poca fe?
29 Vosotros, pues, no os preocupéis por lo que habéis de comer, ni por lo que habéis de beber, ni estéis en ansiosa inquietud.
30 Porque todas estas cosas buscan las gentes del mundo; pero vuestro Padre sabe que tenéis necesidad de estas cosas.
31 Mas buscad el reino de Dios, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.
1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another,
13 …one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
28 Y no temáis a los que matan el cuerpo, mas el alma no pueden matar; temed más bien a aquel que puede destruir el alma y el cuerpo en el infierno.
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
24 Entonces Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, y tome su cruz, y sígame.
25 Porque todo el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; y todo el que pierda su vida por causa de mí, la hallará.
26 Porque ¿qué aprovechará al hombre, si ganare todo el mundo, y perdiere su alma? ¿O qué recompensa dará el hombre por su alma?
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
31 Nuestros padres comieron el maná en el desierto, como está escrito: Pan del cielo les dio a comer.
32 Y Jesús les dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo: No os dio Moisés el pan del cielo, mas mi Padre os da el verdadero pan del cielo.
33 Porque el pan de Dios es aquel que descendió del cielo y da vida al mundo.
38 Porque he descendido del cielo, no para hacer mi voluntad, sino la voluntad del que me envió.
40 Y esta es la voluntad del que me ha enviado: Que todo aquel que ve al Hijo, y cree en él, tenga vida eterna; y yo le resucitaré en el día postrero.
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
1 Porque sabemos que si nuestra morada terrestre, este tabernáculo, se deshiciere, tenemos de Dios un edificio, una casa no hecha de manos, eterna, en los cielos.
6 Así que vivimos confiados siempre, y sabiendo que entre tanto que estamos en el cuerpo, estamos ausentes del Señor.
7 (porque por fe andamos, no por vista);
8 Pero confiamos, y más quisiéramos estar ausentes del cuerpo, y presentes al Señor.
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
23 … y ruego de Dios que todo vuestro ser, espíritu, alma y cuerpo, sean guardado irreprensible para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
23 …and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
El Alma es la sustancia, Vida e inteligencia del hombre, que está individualizada, pero no en la materia. El Alma jamás puede reflejar nada que sea inferior al Espíritu.
El hombre es la expresión del Alma. Los indios norteamericanos tuvieron algunas vislumbres de la realidad fundamental, al llamar a cierto hermoso lago "La sonrisa del Gran Espíritu".
Soul is the substance, Life, and intelligence of man, which is individualized, but not in matter. Soul can never reflect anything inferior to Spirit.
Man is the expression of Soul. The Indians caught some glimpses of the underlying reality, when they called a certain beautiful lake "the smile of the Great Spirit."
La Mente, suprema sobre todas sus formaciones y gobernando a todas ellas, es el sol central de sus propios sistemas de ideas, la vida y la luz de toda su vasta creación; y el hombre es tributario a la Mente divina. Ni el cuerpo ni la mente materiales y mortales son el hombre.
Mind, supreme over all its formations and governing them all, is the central sun of its own systems of ideas, the life and light of all its own vast creation; and man is tributary to divine Mind. The material and mortal body or mind is not the man.
La Ciencia del ser demuestra que es imposible que el Espíritu infinito o el Alma infinita esté en un cuerpo finito o que el hombre tenga una inteligencia separada de su Hacedor. Es un error manifiesto suponer que la vida animal o vegetal orgánica pueda ser realidad, cuando que esa llamada vida siempre acaba en muerte. La Vida jamás se extingue, ni por un momento. Por lo tanto, no es nunca estructural u orgánica, ni puede ser absorbida o limitada jamás por sus propias formaciones.
The Science of being shows it to be impossible for infinite Spirit or Soul to be in a finite body or for man to have an intelligence separate from his Maker. It is a self-evident error to suppose that there can be such a reality as organic animal or vegetable life, when such so-called life always ends in death. Life is never for a moment extinct. Therefore it is never structural nor organic, and is never absorbed nor limited by its own formations.
¿Qué evidencia de Alma o de inmortalidad se tiene en la mortalidad? Aun según las enseñanzas de las ciencias naturales, el hombre no ha visto nunca al Espíritu o al Alma salir de un cuerpo o entrar en él. ¿Qué base hay para la teoría de un espíritu residente en el cuerpo, excepto la afirmación de la creencia mortal?
What evidence of Soul or of immortality have you within mortality? Even according to the teachings of natural science, man has never beheld Spirit or Soul leaving a body or entering it. What basis is there for the theory of indwelling spirit, except the claim of mortal belief?
El cuerpo mortal no es más que una creencia mortal errónea de que hay mente en la materia. Lo que denomináis materia fue originalmente error en solución, mente mortal elemental —comparada por Milton con el "caos y la vieja noche". Una teoría acerca de esa mente mortal es que las sensaciones de la misma pueden reproducir al hombre, pueden formar sangre, carne y huesos. La Ciencia del ser, en la que todo es Mente divina, o Dios y Su idea, sería más clara en esta época, si no fuera por la creencia de que la materia es el medio del hombre, o sea, que el hombre puede entrar en su propio pensamiento incorporado, atarse con sus propias creencias, y luego calificar de materiales a sus trabas y denominarlas ley divina.
The mortal body is only an erroneous mortal belief of mind in matter. What you call matter was originally error in solution, elementary mortal mind, — likened by Milton to "chaos and old night." One theory about this mortal mind is, that its sensations can reproduce man, can form blood, flesh, and bones. The Science of being, in which all is divine Mind, or God and His idea, would be clearer in this age, but for the belief that matter is the medium of man, or that man can enter his own embodied thought, bind himself with his own beliefs, and then call his bonds material and name them divine law.
El Alma tiene recursos infinitos con que bendecir a la humanidad, y alcanzaríamos la felicidad más fácilmente y la conservaríamos con mayor seguridad si la buscásemos en el Alma. Sólo los goces más elevados pueden satisfacer los anhelos del hombre inmortal. No podemos circunscribir la felicidad dentro de los límites del sentido personal. Los sentidos no proporcionan goces verdaderos.
Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul. Higher enjoyments alone can satisfy the cravings of immortal man. We cannot circumscribe happiness within the limits of personal sense. The senses confer no real enjoyment.
Jesús jamás enseñó que los medicamentos, el alimento, el aire y el ejercicio podían dar salud a un hombre, o que podían destruir la vida humana; tampoco ilustró tales errores en su práctica. Él atribuía la armonía del hombre a la Mente y no a la materia, y jamás intentó anular la sentencia de Dios, la cual selló la condenación divina contra el pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte.
Jesus never taught that drugs, food, air, and exercise could make a man healthy, or that they could destroy human life; nor did he illustrate these errors by his practice. He referred man's harmony to Mind, not to matter, and never tried to make of none effect the sentence of God, which sealed God's condemnation of sin, sickness, and death.
Admitid la hipótesis corriente de que el alimento es el nutrimento de la vida, y tendréis que hacer otra admisión en el sentido opuesto —que el alimento tiene el poder de destruir a la Vida, Dios, ya sea por deficiencia o exceso, por calidad o cantidad. Ése es un espécimen de la naturaleza ambigua de todas las teorías materiales acerca de la salud. Son autocontradictorias y autodestructivas, constituyendo un "reino dividido contra sí mismo", que es "asolado". Si Jesús preparó alimento para sus discípulos, el alimento no puede destruir a la vida.
El hecho es que el alimento no afecta a la Vida absoluta del hombre, y eso se evidencia cuando aprendemos que Dios es nuestra Vida.
Admit the common hypothesis that food is the nutriment of life, and there follows the necessity for another admission in the opposite direction, — that food has power to destroy Life, God, through a deficiency or an excess, a quality or a quantity. This is a specimen of the ambiguous nature of all material health-theories. They are self-contradictory and self-destructive, constituting a "kingdom divided against itself," which is "brought to desolation." If food was prepared by Jesus for his disciples, it cannot destroy life.
The fact is, food does not affect the absolute Life of man, and this becomes self-evident, when we learn that God is our Life.
Un clérigo adoptó en cierta ocasión un régimen de pan y agua para aumentar su espiritualidad. Al ver que su salud se debilitaba, abandonó su abstinencia, y aconsejó a otros que nunca recurrieran a la dietética para crecer en gracia.
La creencia de que el ayuno o la comida abundante mejora a los hombres moral y físicamente es uno de los frutos del "árbol del conocimiento del bien y del mal"*, del cual Dios dijo: "No comerás". La mente mortal forma todas las condiciones del cuerpo mortal y gobierna al estómago, los huesos, los pulmones, al corazón, la sangre, etc. tan directamente como la volición o la voluntad mueve a la mano.
A clergyman once adopted a diet of bread and water to increase his spirituality. Finding his health failing, he gave up his abstinence, and advised others never to try dietetics for growth in grace.
The belief that either fasting or feasting makes men better morally or physically is one of the fruits of "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil," concerning which God said, "Thou shalt not eat of it." Mortal mind forms all conditions of the mortal body, and controls the stomach, bones, lungs, heart, blood, etc., as directly as the volition or will moves the hand.
En la Ciencia divina, el hombre es sostenido por Dios, el Principio divino del ser. La tierra, al mandato de Dios, produce alimento para el uso del hombre. Sabiendo eso, Jesús una vez dijo: "No os afanéis por vuestra vida, qué habéis de comer o qué habéis de beber" —no arrogándose la prerrogativa de su creador, sino reconociendo que Dios, el Padre y la Madre de todos, es capaz de alimentar y vestir al hombre como lo hace con los lirios.
In divine Science, man is sustained by God, the divine Principle of being. The earth, at God's command, brings forth food for man's use. Knowing this, Jesus once said, "Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink," — presuming not on the prerogative of his creator, but recognizing God, the Father and Mother of all, as able to feed and clothe man as He doth the lilies.
Si la mitad de la atención que se presta a la higiene se dedicara al estudio de Ciencia Cristiana y a la espiritualización del pensamiento, sólo eso traería al milenio.
If half the attention given to hygiene were given to the study of Christian Science and to the spiritualization of thought, this alone would usher in the millennium.
Tenemos que destruir la creencia falsa de que la vida y la inteligencia están en la materia y afirmarnos en lo que es puro y perfecto. Pablo dijo: "Andad en el Espíritu, y no satisfagáis los deseos de la carne". Tarde o temprano aprenderemos que las cadenas de la capacidad finita del hombre las forja la ilusión de que él vive en el cuerpo en lugar de en el Alma, en la materia en lugar de en el Espíritu.
We must destroy the false belief that life and intelligence are in matter, and plant ourselves upon what is pure and perfect. Paul said, "Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." Sooner or later we shall learn that the fetters of man's finite capacity are forged by the illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter instead of in Spirit.
La Vida es la ley del Alma, la ley del espíritu de la Verdad, y el Alma jamás existe sin su representante. Le es tan imposible al ser individual del hombre morir o desaparecer en la inconsciencia como le es al Alma, pues ambos son inmortales. Si el hombre cree en la muerte ahora, tendrá que dejar de creer en ella al aprender que no hay realidad en la muerte, puesto que la verdad del ser es imperecedera. La creencia de que la existencia depende de la materia tiene que ser combatida y vencida por la Ciencia, antes que se pueda entender la Vida y alcanzar la armonía.
Life is the law of Soul, even the law of the spirit of Truth, and Soul is never without its representative. Man's individual being can no more die nor disappear in unconsciousness than can Soul, for both are immortal. If man believes in death now, he must disbelieve in it when learning that there is no reality in death, since the truth of being is deathless. The belief that existence is contingent on matter must be met and mastered by Science, before Life can be understood and harmony obtained.
¿Amas "al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, y con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente"? Ese mandato incluye mucho, hasta la renuncia a toda sensación, afecto y culto meramente materiales. Ése es El Dorado del cristianismo. Incluye la Ciencia de la Vida y reconoce sólo el dominio divino del Espíritu, en el cual el Alma nos gobierna y los sentidos materiales y la voluntad humana no tienen cabida.
Dost thou "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind"? This command includes much, even the surrender of all merely material sensation, affection, and worship. This is the El Dorado of Christianity. It involves the Science of Life, and recognizes only the divine control of Spirit, in which Soul is our master, and material sense and human will have no place.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
