1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

16 Amó Dios al mundo, que ha dado a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo aquel que en él cree, no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna.
17 Porque no envió Dios a su Hijo al mundo para condenar al mundo, sino para que el mundo sea salvo por él.
16 God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
1 Cuando, pues, el Señor entendió que los fariseos habían oído decir: Jesús hace y bautiza más discípulos que Juan.
3 Salió de Judea, y se fue otra vez a Galilea.
4 Y le era necesario pasar por Samaria.
5 Vino, pues, a una ciudad de Samaria llamada Sicar, junto a la heredad que Jacob dio a su hijo José.
6 Y estaba allí el pozo de Jacob. Entonces Jesús, cansado del camino, se sentó así junto al pozo. Era como la hora sexta.
7 Vino una mujer de Samaria a sacar agua; y Jesús le dijo: Dame de beber.
9 La mujer samaritana le dijo: ¿Cómo tú, siendo judío, me pides a mí de beber, que soy mujer samaritana? Porque judíos y samaritanos no se tratan entre sí.
10 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Si conocieras el don de Dios, y quién es el que te dice: Dame de beber; tú le pedirías, y él te daría agua viva.
11 La mujer le dijo: Señor, no tienes con qué sacarla, y el pozo es hondo. ¿De dónde, pues, tienes el agua viva?
13 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Cualquiera que bebiere de esta agua, volverá a tener sed.
14 Mas el que bebiere del agua que yo le daré, no tendrá sed jamás; sino que el agua que yo le daré será en él una fuente de agua que salte para vida eterna.
15 La mujer le dijo: Señor, dame esa agua, para que no tenga yo sed, ni venga aquí a sacarla.
16 Jesús le dijo: Ve, llama a tu marido, y ven acá.
17 Respondió la mujer y dijo: No tengo marido. Jesús le dijo: Bien has dicho: No tengo marido;
18 Porque cinco maridos has tenido, y el que ahora tienes no es tu marido; esto has dicho con verdad.
19 Le dijo la mujer: Señor, me parece que tú eres profeta.
20 Nuestros padres adoraron en este monte, y vosotros decís que en Jerusalén es el lugar donde se debe adorar.
21 Jesús le dijo: Mujer, créeme, que la hora viene cuando ni en este monte ni en Jerusalén adoraréis al Padre.
22 Vosotros adoráis lo que no sabéis; nosotros adoramos lo que sabemos; porque la salvación viene de los judíos.
23 Mas la hora viene, y ahora es, cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad; porque también el Padre tales adoradores busca que le adoren.
24 Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, en espíritu y en verdad es necesario que adoren.
25 Le dijo la mujer: Sé que ha de venir el Mesías, llamado el Cristo; cuando él venga nos declarará todas las cosas.

1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
3 He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

12 Doy gracias al que me fortaleció, a Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor, porque me tuvo por fiel, poniéndome en el ministerio,
13 Habiendo yo sido antes blasfemo, perseguidor e injuriador; mas fui recibido a misericordia porque lo hice por ignorancia, en incredulidad.
14 Pero la gracia de nuestro Señor fue más abundante con la fe y el amor que es en Cristo Jesús.
15 Palabra fiel y digna de ser recibida por todos: que Cristo Jesús vino al mundo para salvar a los pecadores, de los cuales yo soy el primero.
16 Pero por esto fui recibido a misericordia, para que Jesucristo mostrase en mí el primero toda su clemencia, para ejemplo de los que habrían de creer en él para vida eterna.

12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
50 Pero esto digo, hermanos: que la carne y la sangre no pueden heredar el reino de Dios, ni la corrupción hereda la incorrupción.
51 He aquí, os digo un misterio: No todos dormiremos; pero todos seremos transformados,
52 En un momento, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, a la final trompeta; porque se tocará la trompeta, y los muertos serán resucitados incorruptibles, y nosotros seremos transformados.
53 Porque es necesario que esto corruptible se vista de incorrupción, y esto mortal se vista de inmortalidad.
54 Y cuando esto corruptible se haya vestido de incorrupción, y esto mortal se haya vestido de inmortalidad, entonces se cumplirá la palabra que está escrita: Sorbida es la muerte en victoria.
55 ¿Dónde está, oh muerte, tu aguijón? ¿Dónde, oh sepulcro, tu victoria?
56 Ya que el aguijón de la muerte es el pecado, y el poder del pecado, la ley.
57 Mas gracias sean dadas a Dios, que nos da la victoria por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
… en la Ciencia Cristiana el hombre verdadero está gobernado por Dios —por el bien, no por el mal— y que, por lo tanto, no es un mortal sino un inmortal.
…in Christian Science the true man is governed by God — by good, not evil — and is therefore not a mortal but an immortal.
Dios crea y gobierna el universo, incluso el hombre. El universo está lleno de ideas espirituales, que Dios desarrolla, y éstas obedecen a la Mente que las crea. La mente mortal quisiera transformar lo espiritual en lo material y después recuperar la entidad original del hombre para escapar de la mortalidad de ese error. Los mortales no son como los inmortales, creados a imagen de Dios; pero siendo el Espíritu infinito todo, la consciencia mortal se someterá finalmente a la realidad científica y desaparecerá, y el verdadero concepto del ser, perfecto y eternamente intacto, aparecerá.
God creates and governs the universe, including man. The universe is filled with spiritual ideas, which He evolves, and they are obedient to the Mind that makes them. Mortal mind would transform the spiritual into the material, and then recover man's original self in order to escape from the mortality of this error. Mortals are not like immortals, created in God's own image; but infinite Spirit being all, mortal consciousness will at last yield to the scientific fact and disap-pear, and the real sense of being, perfect and forever intact, will appear.
El nacimiento, el desarrollo, la madurez y el perecimiento humanos son como la hierba que brota de la tierra con bellas hojas verdes, para después marchitarse y volver a su nada original. Esa apariencia mortal es temporal; nunca se une con el ser inmortal, sino que finalmente desaparece, y se descubre que el hombre inmortal, espiritual y eterno, es el hombre real.
Human birth, growth, maturity, and decay are as the grass springing from the soil with beautiful green blades, afterwards to wither and return to its native nothingness. This mortal seeming is temporal; it never merges into immortal being, but finally disappears, and immortal man, spiritual and eternal, is found to be the real man.
Los mortales son contrahechuras de los inmortales. Son los hijos del maligno, o el único mal, que declara que el hombre comienza en polvo o como embrión material. En la Ciencia divina, Dios y el hombre verdadero son inseparables como Principio divino e idea.
Por tanto, el hombre no es ni mortal ni material. Los mortales desaparecerán, y los inmortales, o hijos de Dios, aparecerán como las realidades únicas y eternas del hombre. Los mortales no son hijos de Dios que han caído. Jamás tuvieron un estado de existencia perfecto, el cual les sería posible recuperar posteriormente. Desde el comienzo de la historia mortal fueron "concebidos en pecado y dados a luz en iniquidad". Finalmente la mortalidad es sorbida en la inmortalidad. El pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte tienen que desaparecer para dar lugar a las realidades que corresponden al hombre inmortal.
Refiriéndose a los hijos de Dios, no a los hijos de los hombres, Jesús dijo: "El reino de Dios está entre vosotros"; esto es, la Verdad y el Amor reinan en el hombre verdadero, mostrando que el hombre a imagen de Dios no ha caído y es eterno.
Mortals are the counterfeits of immortals. They are the children of the wicked one, or the one evil, which declares that man begins in dust or as a material embryo. In divine Science, God and the real man are inseparable as divine Principle and idea.
Hence man is not mortal nor material. Mortals will disappear, and immortals, or the children of God, will appear as the only and eternal verities of man. Mortals are not fallen children of God. They never had a perfect state of being, which may subsequently be regained. They were, from the beginning of mortal history, "conceived in sin and brought forth in iniquity." Mortality is finally swallowed up in immortality. Sin, sickness, and death must disappear to give place to the facts which belong to immortal man.
When speaking of God's children, not the children of men, Jesus said, "The kingdom of God is within you;" that is, Truth and Love reign in the real man, showing that man in God's image is unfallen and eternal.
El progreso nace de la experiencia. Es la maduración del hombre mortal mediante la cual se abandona lo mortal por lo inmortal. Bien aquí o en el más allá, el sufrimiento o la Ciencia tiene que destruir todas las ilusiones con respecto a la vida y la mente y regenerar el sentido y el yo materiales. Tenemos que despojarnos del viejo hombre con sus hechos. Nada que sea sensual o pecaminoso es inmortal. La muerte de un falso concepto material y la del pecado, no la muerte de la materia orgánica, es lo que revela que el hombre y la Vida son armoniosos, reales y eternos.
Progress is born of experience. It is the ripening of mortal man, through which the mortal is dropped for the immortal. Either here or hereafter, suffering or Science must destroy all illusions regarding life and mind, and regenerate material sense and self. The old man with his deeds must be put off. Nothing sensual or sinful is immortal. The death of a false material sense and of sin, not the death of organic matter, is what reveals man and Life, harmonious, real, and eternal.
"El aguijón de la muerte es el pecado, y el poder del pecado, la ley" —la ley de la creencia mortal, que lucha contra las realidades de la Vida inmortal, sí, contra la ley espiritual misma que dice: "¿Dónde [está], oh sepulcro, tu victoria?" Pero "cuando esto corruptible se haya vestido de incorrupción, y esto mortal se haya vestido de inmortalidad, entonces se cumplirá la palabra que está escrita: Sorbida es la muerte en victoria".
"The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law," — the law of mortal belief, at war with the facts of immortal Life, even with the spiritual law which says to the grave, "Where is thy victory?" But "when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory."
Hay que sacar a luz la gran verdad espiritual de que el hombre ya es, no que será, perfecto e inmortal. Tenemos que estar por siempre conscientes de la existencia, y tarde o temprano, por medio de Cristo y la Ciencia Cristiana, tendremos que vencer el pecado y la muerte. La evidencia de la inmortalidad del hombre se manifestará más, a medida que se abandonen las creencias materiales y se admitan las realidades inmortales del ser.
The great spiritual fact must be brought out that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal. We must hold forever the consciousness of existence, and sooner or later, through Christ and Christian Science, we must master sin and death. The evidence of man's immortality will become more apparent, as material beliefs are given up and the immortal facts of being are admitted.
La Vida es eterna. Debiéramos descubrir eso y comenzar a demostrarlo. La Vida y el bien son inmortales. Modelemos, pues, nuestros conceptos de la existencia en belleza, lozanía y continuidad, en lugar de vejez y decrepitud.
Life is eternal. We should find this out, and begin the demonstration thereof. Life and goodness are immortal. Let us then shape our views of existence into loveliness, freshness, and continuity, rather than into age and blight.
La belleza, como la verdad, es eterna; pero la belleza de las cosas materiales, efímera y fugaz como la creencia mortal, se desvanece. La costumbre, la educación y la moda dan forma a las normas pasajeras de los mortales. La inmortalidad, exenta de vejez o decadencia, tiene su propia gloria —el resplandor del Alma. Los hombres y las mujeres inmortales son modelos del sentido espiritual, trazados por la Mente perfecta, y reflejan aquellos conceptos más elevados de belleza que trascienden todo sentido material.
Beauty, as well as truth, is eternal; but the beauty of material things passes away, fading and fleeting as mortal belief. Custom, education, and fashion form the transient standards of mortals. Immortality, exempt from age or decay, has a glory of its own, — the radiance of Soul. Immortal men and women are models of spiritual sense, drawn by perfect Mind and reflecting those higher conceptions of loveliness which transcend all material sense.
El gozo sin pecado —la perfecta armonía e inmortalidad de la Vida, que posee sin límites la belleza y bondad divinas, sin un solo placer o dolor corporal— constituye el único hombre verdadero e indestructible, cuyo ser es espiritual. Ese estado de existencia es científico e intacto —una perfección que pueden discernir sólo aquellos que tienen la comprensión final del Cristo en la Ciencia divina. La muerte jamás puede apresurar ese estado de existencia, porque hay que vencer a la muerte y no someterse a ella, antes que aparezca la inmortalidad.
The sinless joy, — the perfect harmony and immortality of Life, possessing unlimited divine beauty and goodness without a single bodily pleasure or pain, — constitutes the only veritable, indestructible man, whose being is spiritual. This state of existence is scientific and intact, — a perfection discernible only by those who have the final understanding of Christ in divine Science. Death can never hasten this state of existence, for death must be overcome, not submitted to, before immortality appears.
Cuando la ilusión de enfermedad o de pecado os tiente, aferraos firmemente a Dios y Su idea. No permitáis que nada sino Su semejanza more en vuestro pensamiento. No consintáis que ni el temor ni la duda oscurezcan vuestro claro sentido y serena confianza, que el reconocimiento de la vida armoniosa — como lo es la Vida eternamente— puede destruir cualquier concepto doloroso o creencia acerca de lo que la Vida no es. Dejad que la Ciencia Cristiana, en vez del sentido corporal, apoye vuestra comprensión del ser, y esa comprensión sustituirá al error con la Verdad, reemplazará a la mortalidad con la inmortalidad y acallará a la discordancia con la armonía.
When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science, instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence discord with harmony.
La Ciencia revela las gloriosas posibilidades del hombre inmortal, jamás limitado por los sentidos mortales.
Science reveals the glorious possibilities of immortal man, forever unlimited by the mortal senses.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
