1 El Espíritu de Jehová el Señor está sobre mí, porque me ungió Jehová; me ha enviado a predicar buenas nuevas a los abatidos, a vendar a los quebrantados de corazón, a publicar libertad a los cautivos, y a los presos apertura de la cárcel;
2 ... a consolar a todos los enlutados;
3 ... se les dé gloria en lugar de ceniza, óleo de gozo en lugar de luto, manto de alegría en lugar del espíritu angustiado; y serán llamados árboles de justicia, plantío de Jehová, para gloria suya.
14 Por esta causa doblo mis rodillas ante el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,
15 de quien toma nombre toda familia en los cielos y en la tierra,
17 para que habite Cristo por la fe en vuestros corazones, a fin de que, arraigados y cimentados en amor,

1. The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

18. May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19. And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

1 En el principio era el Verbo, y el Verbo era con Dios, y el Verbo era Dios.

36 Uno de los fariseos rogó a Jesús que comiese con él. Y habiendo entrado en casa del fariseo, se sentó a la mesa.
37 Entonces una mujer de la ciudad, que era pecadora, al saber que Jesús estaba a la mesa en casa del fariseo, trajo un frasco de alabastro con perfume;
38 y estando detrás de él a sus pies, llorando, comenzó a regar con lágrimas sus pies, y los enjugaba con sus cabellos; y besaba sus pies, y los ungía con el perfume.
39 Cuando vio esto el fariseo que le había convidado, dijo para sí: Este, si fuera profeta, conocería quién y qué clase de mujer es la que le toca, que es pecadora.
40 Entonces respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Simón, una cosa tengo que decirte. Y él le dijo: Di, Maestro.
41 Un acreedor tenía dos deudores: el uno le debía quinientos denarios, y el otro cincuenta;
42 y no teniendo ellos con qué pagar, perdonó a ambos. Di, pues, ¿cuál de ellos le amará más?
43 Respondiendo Simón, dijo: Pienso que aquel a quien perdonó más. Y él le dijo: Rectamente has juzgado.
44 Y vuelto a la mujer, dijo a Simón: ¿Ves esta mujer? Entré en tu casa, y no me diste agua para mis pies; mas esta ha regado mis pies con lágrimas, y los ha enjugado con sus cabellos.

36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

16 Así alumbre vuestra luz delante de los hombres, para que vean vuestras buenas obras, y glorifiquen a vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.
20 Porque os digo que si vuestra justicia no fuere mayor que la de los escribas y fariseos, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos.
23 Por tanto, si traes tu ofrenda al altar, y allí te acuerdas de que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti,
24 deja allí tu ofrenda delante del altar, y anda, reconcíliate primero con tu hermano, y entonces ven y presenta tu ofrenda.
44 … yo os digo: Amad a vuestros enemigos, bendecid a los que os maldicen, haced bien a los que os aborrecen, y orad por los que os ultrajan y os persiguen;

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
44 ... I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

1 Si, pues, habéis resucitado con Cristo, buscad las cosas de arriba, donde está Cristo sentado a la diestra de Dios.

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
4 El amor es sufrido, es benigno; el amor no tiene envidia, el amor no es jactancioso, no se envanece;
7 Todo lo sufre, todo lo cree, todo lo espera, todo lo soporta.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

La parte vital, el corazón y alma de la Ciencia Cristiana, es el Amor.
The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love.
Nuestro bautismo es una purificación de todo error. Nuestra iglesia está edificada sobre el Principio divino, el Amor. Podemos unirnos a esta iglesia sólo a medida que nazcamos de nuevo en el Espíritu, que alcancemos la Vida que es Verdad y la Verdad que es Vida, produciendo los frutos del Amor —echando fuera el error y sanando a los enfermos.
Our church is built on the divine Principle, Love. We can unite with this church only as we are newborn of Spirit, as we reach the Life which is Truth and the Truth which is Life by bringing forth the fruits of Love, — casting out error and healing the sick.
Aprenderéis que en la Ciencia Cristiana el primer deber es obedecer a Dios, tener una sola Mente, y amar al prójimo como a vosotros mismos.
Preguntaos: ¿Estoy viviendo la vida que más se acerca al bien supremo? ¿Estoy demostrando el poder sanador de la Verdad y el Amor?
You will learn that in Christian Science the first duty is to obey God, to have one Mind, and to love another as yourself.
Ask yourself: Am I living the life that approaches the supreme good? Am I demonstrating the healing power of Truth and Love?
El amor a Dios y al hombre es el verdadero incentivo en la curación y en la enseñanza. El Amor inspira el camino, lo ilumina, lo designa y va adelante en él. Los móviles rectos dan alas al pensamiento, y fuerza y soltura a la palabra y a la acción. El amor es sacerdote en el altar de la Verdad.
Love for God and man is the true incentive in both healing and teaching. Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way. Right motives give pinions to thought, and strength and freedom to speech and action. Love is priestess at the altar of Truth.
En el capítulo séptimo del Evangelio según San Lucas se relata que una vez Jesús fue huésped de honor de cierto fariseo, de nombre Simón, aunque era muy distinto de Simón el discípulo. Mientras estaban a la mesa, ocurrió un incidente insólito, como si fuera para interrumpir la escena festiva oriental. Entró una "ramera".
It is related in the seventh chapter of Luke's Gospel that Jesus was once the honored guest of a certain Pharisee, by name Simon, though he was quite unlike Simon the disciple. While they were at meat, an unusual incident occurred, as if to interrupt the scene of Oriental festivity. A "strange woman" came in.
Aquí se insinúa una pregunta solemne, pregunta motivada por una de las necesidades de la época actual. ¿Buscan los Científicos Cristianos la Verdad como Simón buscó al Salvador, mediante el tradicionalismo material y por homenaje personal? … Si los Científicos Cristianos son como Simón, habrá que decir de ellos también que poco aman.
Por otra parte, ¿demuestran su respeto por la Verdad, o el Cristo, con arrepentimiento sincero y con corazón abatido, expresados en humildad y afecto humano, como lo hizo esa mujer? Si es así, entonces puede decirse de ellos lo que Jesús dijo de esa visitante mal recibida, que en verdad aman mucho, porque mucho les es perdonado.
Here is suggested a solemn question, a question indicated by one of the needs of this age. Do Christian Scientists seek Truth as Simon sought the Saviour, through material conservatism and for personal homage? ... If Christian Scientists are like Simon, then it must be said of them also that they love little.
On the other hand, do they show their regard for Truth, or Christ, by their genuine repentance, by their broken hearts, expressed by meekness and human affection, as did this woman? If so, then it may be said of them, as Jesus said of the unwelcome visitor, that they indeed love much, because much is forgiven them.
Algunas personas asimilan la verdad más fácilmente que otras, pero todo discípulo que se adhiere a las reglas divinas de la Ciencia Cristiana y embebe el espíritu de Cristo, puede demostrar la Ciencia Cristiana, echar fuera el error, sanar enfermos y agregar continuamente a su caudal de comprensión espiritual, poder, iluminación y buen éxito.
Some individuals assimilate truth more readily than others, but any student, who adheres to the divine rules of Christian Science and imbibes the spirit of Christ, can demonstrate Christian Science, cast out error, heal the sick, and add continually to his store of spiritual understanding, potency, enlightenment, and success.
Si hacen mal uso de la curación cristiana los que conocen la Ciencia sólo superficialmente, viene a ser aquella una fastidiosa semilla de discordia. En lugar de efectuar la cura científicamente, inicia un despreciable tiroteo sobre todo lisiado e inválido, abofeteándolos con la fría y superficial afirmación: "Usted no tiene nada".
If Christian healing is abused by mere smatterers in Science, it becomes a tedious mischief-maker. Instead of scientifically effecting a cure, it starts a petty crossfire over every cripple and invalid, buffeting them with the superficial and cold assertion, "Nothing ails you."
El pobre corazón adolorido necesita de su legítimo nutrimento, tal como paz, paciencia en las tribulaciones y un inestimable sentido de la bondad del amado Padre.
The poor suffering heart needs its rightful nutriment, such as peace, patience in tribulation, and a priceless sense of the dear Father's loving-kindness.
El sanador que no tiene compasión por sus semejantes es falto de afecto humano, y tenemos justificación apostólica para preguntar: "El que no ama a su hermano a quien ha visto, ¿cómo puede amar a Dios a quien no ha visto?" Si el sanador no tiene ese afecto espiritual, entonces le falta la fe en la Mente divina y carece de ese reconocimiento del Amor infinito que es lo único que confiere el poder de sanar. Los así llamados Científicos colarán mosquitos,
Si quisiéramos abrir las puertas de su prisión a los enfermos, tenemos primero que aprender a vendar a los quebrantados de corazón. Si quisiéramos sanar por el Espíritu, no debemos esconder el talento de la curación espiritual bajo el sudario de su forma, ni enterrar el espíritu de la Ciencia Cristiana* en las vendas de su letra. La palabra tierna y el aliento cristiano que se da al enfermo, la compasiva paciencia con sus temores y la eliminación de los mismos, son mejores que hecatombes de teorías verbosas, la repetición de discursos trillados ajenos y la limosna de argumentos, que no son sino otras tantas parodias de Ciencia Cristiana legítima, que arde de Amor divino.
The physician who lacks sympathy for his fellow-being is deficient in human affection, and we have the apostolic warrant for asking: "He that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?" Not having this spiritual affection, the physician lacks faith in the divine Mind and has not that recognition of infinite Love which alone confers the healing power. Such so-called Scientists will strain out gnats, while they swallow the camels of bigoted pedantry.
If we would open their prison doors for the sick, we must first learn to bind up the broken-hearted. If we would heal by the Spirit, we must not hide the talent of spiritual healing under the napkin of its form, nor bury the morale of Christian Science in the grave-clothes of its letter. The tender word and Christian encouragement of an invalid, pitiful patience with his fears and the removal of them, are better than hecatombs of gushing theories, stereotyped borrowed speeches, and the doling of arguments, which are but so many parodies on legitimate Christian Science, aflame with divine Love.
Los Científicos Cristianos tienen que vivir bajo la presión constante del mandato apostólico de salir del mundo material y apartarse de él. Tienen que renunciar a la agresión, a la opresión y al orgullo del poder. La religión cristiana, con la corona del Amor sobre sus sienes, tiene que ser la reina de su vida.
Christian Scientists must live under the constant pressure of the apostolic command to come out from the material world and be separate. They must renounce aggression, oppression and the pride of power. Christianity, with the crown of Love upon her brow, must be their queen of life.
Todo lo que mantenga al pensamiento humano de acuerdo con el amor desinteresado, recibe directamente el poder divino.
Whatever holds human thought in line with unselfed love, receives directly the divine power.
Si el Científico Cristiano atiende a su paciente por medio del Amor divino, la obra sanadora se realizará en una sola visita, y la enfermedad se desvanecerá en su estado original, la nada, como el rocío ante el sol de la mañana. Si el Científico posee suficiente afecto de la calidad del Cristo para lograr su propio perdón y ese elogio de Jesús del que se hizo merecedora la Magdalena, entonces es lo suficientemente cristiano para practicar científicamente y tratar a sus pacientes con compasión; y el resultado corresponderá con la intención espiritual.
If the Scientist reaches his patient through divine Love, the healing work will be accomplished at one visit, and the disease will vanish into its native nothingness like dew before the morning sunshine. If the Scientist has enough Christly affection to win his own pardon, and such commendation as the Magdalen gained from Jesus, then he is Christian enough to practise scientifically and deal with his patients compassionately; and the result will correspond with the spiritual intent.
El Amor cumple la ley de la Ciencia Cristiana, y nada que no sea ese Principio divino, comprendido y demostrado, podrá ofrecer jamás la visión del Apocalipsis, abrir los siete sellos del error con la Verdad o descubrir las múltiples ilusiones del pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte.
Love fulfils the law of Christian Science, and nothing short of this divine Principle, understood and demonstrated, can ever furnish the vision of the Apocalypse, open the seven seals of error with Truth, or uncover the myriad illusions of sin, sickness, and death.
"Dios es Amor". Más que eso no podemos pedir, más alto no podemos mirar, más allá no podemos ir.
"God is Love." More than this we cannot ask, higher we cannot look, farther we cannot go.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
