1. Pero tú habla lo que está de acuerdo con la sana doctrina.
10. Porque hay aún muchos contumaces, habladores de vanidades y engañadores,
11. Porque la gracia de Dios se ha manifestado para salvación a todos los hombres,
12. enseñándonos que, renunciando a la impiedad y a los deseos mundanos, vivamos en este siglo sobria, justa y piadosamente,
13. aguardando la esperanza bienaventurada y la manifestación gloriosa de nuestro gran Dios y Salvador Jesucristo,
14. quien se dio a sí mismo por nosotros para redimirnos de toda iniquidad y purificar para sí un pueblo propio, celoso de buenas obras.
1. Speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
10. For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers,
11. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12. Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13. Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14. Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Leccion Sermon
3 Así dice Jehová: Yo he restaurado a Sion, y moraré en medio de Jerusalén; y Jerusalén se llamará Ciudad de la Verdad, y el monte de Jehová de los ejércitos, Monte de Santidad.
16 Estas son las cosas que habéis de hacer: Hablad verdad cada cual con su prójimo; juzgad según la verdad y lo conducente a la paz en vuestras puertas.
17 Y ninguno de vosotros piense mal en su corazón contra su prójimo, ni améis el juramento falso; porque todas estas son cosas que aborrezco, dice Jehová.
3 Thus saith the Lord; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the Lord of hosts the holy mountain.
16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:
17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.
10 Hubo entonces hambre en la tierra, y descendió Abram a Egipto para morar allá; porque era grande el hambre en la tierra.
11 Y aconteció que cuando estaba para entrar en Egipto, dijo a Sarai su mujer: He aquí, ahora conozco que eres mujer de hermoso aspecto;
12 y cuando te vean los egipcios, dirán: Su mujer es; y me matarán a mí, y a ti te reservarán la vida.
13 Ahora, pues, di que eres mi hermana, para que me vaya bien por causa tuya, y viva mi alma por causa de ti.

20 Entonces Faraón dio orden a su gente acerca de Abram; y le acompañaron, y a su mujer, con todo lo que tenía.
10 And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.
11 And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:
12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.
13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.
14 And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair.
15 The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.
16 And he entreated Abram well for her sake:
17 And the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.
18 And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?
19 Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.
20 And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.
22 Los labios mentirosos son abominación a Jehová; Pero los que hacen verdad son su contentamiento.
22 Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.
1 Después de estas cosas vino la palabra de Jehová a Abram en visión, diciendo: No temas, Abram; yo soy tu escudo, y tu galardón será sobremanera grande.
6 Y creyó a Jehová, y le fue contado por justicia.
1 After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
6 And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
1 Era Abram de edad de noventa y nueve años, cuando le apareció Jehová y le dijo: Yo soy el Dios Todopoderoso; anda delante de mí y sé perfecto.
5 Y no se llamará más tu nombre Abram, sino que será tu nombre Abraham,
9 Dijo de nuevo Dios a Abraham: En cuanto a ti, guardarás mi pacto,
1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham;
9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore,
1 ¿Qué, pues, diremos que halló Abraham, nuestro padre según la carne?
3 Porque ¿qué dice la Escritura? Creyó Abraham a Dios, y le fue contado por justicia.
7 Bienaventurados aquellos cuyas iniquidades son perdonadas, Y cuyos pecados son cubiertos.
8 Bienaventurado el varón a quien el Señor no inculpa de pecado.
1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
7 Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
1 Así que, hermanos, os ruego por las misericordias de Dios, que presentéis vuestros cuerpos en sacrificio vivo, santo, agradable a Dios, que es vuestro culto racional.
2 No os conforméis a este siglo, sino transformaos por medio de la renovación de vuestro entendimiento, para que comprobéis cuál sea la buena voluntad de Dios, agradable y perfecta.
3 Digo, pues, por la gracia que me es dada, a cada cual que está entre vosotros, que no tenga más alto concepto de sí que el que debe tener, sino que piense de sí con cordura, conforme a la medida de fe que Dios repartió a cada uno.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
3 Pues aunque andamos en la carne, no militamos según la carne;
4 porque las armas de nuestra milicia no son carnales, sino poderosas en Dios para la destrucción de fortalezas,
5 derribando argumentos y toda altivez que se levanta contra el conocimiento de Dios, y llevando cautivo todo pensamiento a la obediencia a Cristo,
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
1 Después miré, y he aquí el Cordero estaba en pie sobre el monte de Sion, y con él ciento cuarenta y cuatro mil, que tenían el nombre de él y el de su Padre escrito en la frente.
3 Y cantaban un cántico nuevo delante del trono,
4 Estos son los que siguen al Cordero por dondequiera que va. Estos fueron redimidos de entre los hombres como primicias para Dios y para el Cordero;
5 y en sus bocas no fue hallada mentira, pues son sin mancha delante del trono de Dios.
1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.
3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne,
4 These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
2 Vi también como un mar de vidrio mezclado con fuego; y a los que habían alcanzado la victoria sobre la bestia y su imagen, y su marca y el número de su nombre, en pie sobre el mar de vidrio, con las arpas de Dios.
3 Y cantan el cántico de Moisés siervo de Dios, y el cántico del Cordero, diciendo: Grandes y maravillosas son tus obras, Señor Dios Todopoderoso; justos y verdaderos son tus caminos, Rey de los santos.
2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
La honradez es poder espiritual. La falta de honradez es debilidad humana, que pierde el derecho a la ayuda divina. Descubrís el pecado, no para perjudicar al hombre corpóreo, sino para bendecirlo; y un móvil bueno tiene su recompensa.
Honesty is spiritual power. Dishonesty is human weakness, which forfeits divine help. You uncover sin, not in order to injure, but in order to bless the corporeal man; and a right motive has its reward.
El eludir la Verdad mutila la integridad y os echa del pináculo.
La Ciencia Cristiana se eleva por encima del testimonio de los sentidos corporales; pero si no os habéis elevado por encima del pecado, no os felicitéis por vuestra ceguera en cuanto al mal, o por el bien que sabéis y que no hacéis. Una actitud ímproba está muy lejos de ser cristianamente científica. "El que encubre sus pecados no prosperará; mas el que los confiesa y se aparta alcanzará misericordia". Procurad que quede en la mente de cada alumno la fuerte impresión de la Ciencia divina, un elevado concepto de las cualidades morales y espirituales esenciales para la curación, sabiendo bien que es imposible que el error, el mal y el odio logren los grandes resultados de la Verdad y el Amor. La admisión o la búsqueda de enseñanzas opuestas a la Ciencia Cristiana absoluta siempre ha de impedir la demostración científica.
Si el alumno se adhiere estrictamente a las enseñanzas de la Ciencia Cristiana y no se aventura a violar sus reglas, no dejará de tener buen éxito en la curación. Es Ciencia Cristiana hacer el bien, y nada menos que hacer el bien puede aspirar a ese nombre.
Evasion of Truth cripples integrity, and casts thee down from the pinnacle.
Christian Science rises above the evidence of the corporeal senses; but if you have not risen above sin yourself, do not congratulate yourself upon your blindness to evil or upon the good you know and do not. A dishonest position is far from Christianly scientific. "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." Try to leave on every student's mind the strong impress of divine Science, a high sense of the moral and spiritual qualifications requisite for healing, well knowing it to be impossible for error, evil, and hate to accomplish the grand results of Truth and Love. The reception or pursuit of instructions opposite to absolute Christian Science must always hinder scientific demonstration.
If the student adheres strictly to the teachings of Christian Science and ventures not to break its rules, he cannot fail of success in healing. It is Christian Science to do right, and nothing short of rightdoing has any claim to the name.
No hay ciencia física, puesto que toda verdad procede de la Mente divina. Por tanto, la verdad no es humana, ni es una ley de la materia, porque la materia no es un legislador. La Ciencia es una emanación de la Mente divina, y sólo ella es capaz de interpretar a Dios correctamente. Su origen es espiritual, no material. Es una declaración divina —el Consolador que guía a toda la verdad.
There is no physical science, inasmuch as all truth proceeds from the divine Mind. Therefore truth is not human, and is not a law of matter, for matter is not a lawgiver. Science is an emanation of divine Mind, and is alone able to interpret God aright. It has a spiritual, and not a material origin. It is a divine utterance, — the Comforter which leadeth into all truth.
En la Ciencia de la curación por la Mente es indispensable de ser honesto, puesto que la victoria está del lado del bien inmutable. Comprender a Dios fortifica la esperanza, entroniza la fe en la Verdad y confirma las palabras de Jesús: "He aquí yo estoy con vosotros todos los días, hasta el fin del mundo".
In the Science of Mind-healing, it is imperative to be honest, for victory rests on the side of immutable right. To understand God strengthens hope, enthrones faith in Truth, and verifies Jesus' word: "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."
Cuando Dios sana al enfermo o al pecador, deberían conocer el gran beneficio que la Mente ha realizado. También deberían conocer el gran engaño de la mente mortal cuando los enferma o los hace pecar. Muchos están dispuestos a abrir los ojos de la gente para que vean el poder del bien que reside en la Mente divina, pero no están tan dispuestos a señalar el mal en el pensamiento humano y a desenmascarar los ocultos métodos mentales de los que se sirve el mal para llevar a cabo su iniquidad.
¿Por qué esa renuencia, ya que tal denuncia es necesaria para asegurar que se evite el mal? Porque os aprecia más la gente cuando le habláis de sus virtudes que cuando le habláis de sus vicios.
When God heals the sick or the sinning, they should know the great benefit which Mind has wrought. They should also know the great delusion of mortal mind, when it makes them sick or sinful. Many are willing to open the eyes of the people to the power of good resident in divine Mind, but they are not so willing to point out the evil in human thought, and expose evil's hidden mental ways of accomplishing iniquity.
Why this backwardness, since exposure is necessary to ensure the avoidance of the evil? Because people like you better when you tell them their virtues than when you tell them their vices.
La creencia produce los resultados de la creencia, y las penas que impone duran tanto como la creencia y son inseparables de ella. El remedio consiste en sondar el mal hasta el fondo, en encontrar el error de la creencia que produce un desorden mortal y echarlo fuera por negación, nunca honrando la creencia errónea con el título de ley, ni rindiéndole obediencia. La Verdad, la Vida y el Amor son las únicas exigencias legítimas y eternas que se le hacen al hombre, y son legisladores espirituales, que obligan a obediencia por medio de estatutos divinos.
Gobernado por la inteligencia divina, el hombre es armonioso y eterno. Todo lo que esté gobernado por una creencia falsa es discordante y mortal.
Belief produces the results of belief, and the penalties it affixes last so long as the belief and are inseparable from it. The remedy consists in probing the trouble to the bottom, in finding and casting out by denial the error of belief which produces a mortal disorder, never honoring erroneous belief with the title of law nor yielding obedience to it. Truth, Life, and Love are the only legitimate and eternal demands on man, and they are spiritual lawgivers, enforcing obedience through divine statutes.
Controlled by the divine intelligence, man is harmonious and eternal. Whatever is governed by a false belief is discordant and mortal.
Desenmascarad y denunciad las pretensiones del mal y de la enfermedad en todas sus formas, pero no les concedáis realidad. Un pecador no se reforma por asegurarle meramente que no puede ser pecador porque no existe el pecado. Para suprimir la pretensión del pecado, tenéis que descubrirla, arrancarle la máscara, señalar el engaño y de ese modo obtener la victoria sobre el pecado y probar así su irrealidad. Los enfermos no se sanan meramente declarando que no hay enfermedad, sino sabiendo que no la hay.
El pecador teme arrojar la primera piedra. Puede que diga, como subterfugio, que el mal es irreal, pero para saber eso debe demostrar su declaración.
Expose and denounce the claims of evil and disease in all their forms, but realize no reality in them. A sinner is not reformed merely by assuring him that he cannot be a sinner because there is no sin. To put down the claim of sin, you must detect it, remove the mask, point out the illusion, and thus get the victory over sin and so prove its unreality. The sick are not healed merely by declaring there is no sickness, but by knowing that there is none.
A sinner is afraid to cast the first stone. He may say, as a subterfuge, that evil is unreal, but to know it, he must demonstrate his statement.
El termómetro de la moral del hombre, al subir o bajar, denota su habilidad sanadora y su aptitud para enseñar. Debierais practicar bien lo que sabéis, y entonces progresaréis en proporción a vuestra honradez y fidelidad, cualidades que aseguran el buen éxito en esta Ciencia;
Man's moral mercury, rising or falling, registers his healing ability and fitness to teach. You should practise well what you know, and you will then advance in proportion to your honesty and fidelity, — qualities which insure success in this Science;
No hay que desesperar jamás de un corazón sincero; pero hay pocas esperanzas para quienes se enfrentan sólo esporádicamente con su maldad y luego tratan de ocultarla. Sus oraciones son índices que no corresponden con su carácter. Participan secretamente en el pecado, y Jesús dijo que tales apariencias eran "semejantes a sepulcros blanqueados... llenos... de toda inmundicia".
We never need to despair of an honest heart; but there is little hope for those who come only spasmodically face to face with their wickedness and then seek to hide it. Their prayers are indexes which do not correspond with their character. They hold secret fellowship with sin, and such externals are spoken of by Jesus as "like unto whited sepulchres ... full ... of all uncleanness."
Para orar como se debe, hay que entrar en el aposento y cerrar la puerta. Tenemos que cerrar los labios y silenciar los sentidos materiales. En el santuario tranquilo de aspiraciones sinceras, tenemos que negar el pecado y afirmar que Dios es Todo. Tenemos que resolvernos a tomar la cruz y con sincero corazón salir a trabajar y velar por la sabiduría, la Verdad y el Amor. Tenemos que "orar sin cesar". Tal oración es respondida en la proporción en que llevemos nuestros deseos a la práctica. El mandato del Maestro es que oremos en secreto v dejemos que nuestra vida atestigüe nuestra sinceridad.
In order to pray aright, we must enter into the closet and shut the door. We must close the lips and silence the material senses. In the quiet sanctuary of earnest longings, we must deny sin and plead God's allness. We must resolve to take up the cross, and go forth with honest hearts to work and watch for wisdom, Truth, and Love. We must "pray without ceasing." Such prayer is answered, in so far as we put our desires into practice. The Master's injunction is, that we pray in secret and let our lives attest our sincerity.
El sentido espiritual de la verdad tiene que obtenerse antes que la Verdad pueda comprenderse. Ese sentido se asimila sólo a medida que seamos honestos, abnegados, bondadosos y humildes. Hay que sembrar la semilla en la tierra de un "corazón bueno y recto"; de otro modo no llevará mucho fruto, pues la desarraigará el elemento más bajo de la naturaleza humana.
The spiritual sense of truth must be gained before Truth can be understood. This sense is assimilated only as we are honest, unselfish, loving, and meek. In the soil of an "honest and good heart" the seed must be sown; else it beareth not much fruit, for the swinish element in human nature uproots it.
La experiencia debiera ser la escuela de la virtud, y la felicidad humana debiera proceder de la naturaleza más elevada del hombre.
Experience should be the school of virtue, and human happiness should proceed from man's highest nature.
Aferraos a la verdad del ser en contraste con el error de que la vida, la sustancia o la inteligencia puedan estar en la materia. Abogad con sincera convicción de la verdad y con clara percepción del efecto invariable, infalible y seguro de la Ciencia divina. Entonces, si vuestra fidelidad es sólo semiigual a la verdad de vuestro alegato, sanaréis al enfermo.
Stick to the truth of being in contradistinction to the error that life, substance, or intelligence can be in matter. Plead with an honest conviction of truth and a clear perception of the unchanging, unerring, and certain effect of divine Science. Then, if your fidelity is half equal to the truth of your plea, you will heal the sick.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
