“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
1. Consolaos, consolaos, pueblo mío, dice vuestro Dios.
4. Todo valle sea alzado, y bájese todo monte y collado; y lo torcido se enderece, y lo áspero se allane.
5. Y se manifestará la gloria de Jehová, y toda carne juntamente la verá; porque la boca de Jehová ha hablado.
10. Oíd palabra de Jehová, oh naciones, y hacedlo saber en las costas que están lejos, y decid: El que esparció a Israel lo reunirá y guardará, como el pastor a su rebaño.

4. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
10. Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.
11. For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
12. Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

1 El Espíritu de Jehová el Señor está sobre mí, porque me ungió Jehová; me ha enviado a predicar buenas nuevas a los abatidos, a vendar a los quebrantados de corazón, a publicar libertad a los cautivos, y a los presos apertura de la cárcel;
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
6 Jesús, cansado del camino, se sentó así junto al pozo. Era como la hora sexta.
7 Vino una mujer de Samaria a sacar agua; y Jesús le dijo: Dame de beber.
8 Pues sus discípulos habían ido a la ciudad a comprar de comer.
9 La mujer samaritana le dijo: ¿Cómo tú, siendo judío, me pides a mí de beber, que soy mujer samaritana? Porque judíos y samaritanos no se tratan entre sí.
10 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Si conocieras el don de Dios, y quién es el que te dice: Dame de beber; tú le pedirías, y él te daría agua viva.
11 La mujer le dijo: Señor, no tienes con qué sacarla, y el pozo es hondo. ¿De dónde, pues, tienes el agua viva?
12 ¿Acaso eres tú mayor que nuestro padre Jacob, que nos dio este pozo, del cual bebieron él, sus hijos y sus ganados?
13 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Cualquiera que bebiere de esta agua, volverá a tener sed:
14 mas el que bebiere del agua que yo le daré, no tendrá sed jamás; sino que el agua que yo le daré será en él una fuente de agua que salte para vida eterna.
15 La mujer le dijo: Señor, dame esa agua, para que no tenga yo sed, ni venga aquí a sacarla.
16 Jesús le dijo: Ve, llama a tu marido, y ven acá.
17 Respondió la mujer y dijo: No tengo marido. Jesús le dijo: Bien has dicho: No tengo marido:
18 porque cinco maridos has tenido, y el que ahora tienes no es tu marido; esto has dicho con verdad.
19 Le dijo la mujer: Señor, me parece que tú eres profeta.
20 Nuestros padres adoraron en este monte, y vosotros decís que en Jerusalén es el lugar donde se debe adorar.
21 Jesús le dijo: Mujer, créeme, que la hora viene cuando ni en este monte ni en Jerusalén adoraréis al Padre.
22 Vosotros adoráis lo que no sabéis; nosotros adoramos lo que sabemos; porque la salvación viene de los judíos.
23 Mas la hora viene, y ahora es, cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad; porque también el Padre tales adoradores busca que le adoren.
24 Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, en espíritu y en verdad es necesario que adoren.
25 Le dijo la mujer: Sé que ha de venir el Mesías, llamado el Cristo; cuando él venga nos declarará todas las cosas.
26 Jesús le dijo: Yo soy, el que habla contigo.
27 En esto vinieron sus discípulos, y se maravillaron de que hablaba con una mujer; sin embargo, ninguno dijo: ¿Qué preguntas? o, ¿Qué hablas con ella?
28 Entonces la mujer dejó su cántaro, y fue a la ciudad, y dijo a los hombres,
29 Venid, ved a un hombre que me ha dicho todo cuanto he hecho. ¿No será este el Cristo?
6 Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
10 Enseñaba Jesús en una sinagoga en el día de reposo
11 y había allí una mujer que desde hacía dieciocho años tenía espíritu de enfermedad, y andaba encorvada, y en ninguna manera se podía enderezar.
12 Cuando Jesús la vio, la llamó y le dijo: Mujer, eres libre de tu enfermedad.
13 Y puso las manos sobre ella; y ella se enderezó luego, y glorificaba a Dios.
10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
28 Les dijo, pues, Jesús: Cuando hayáis levantado al Hijo del Hombre, entonces conoceréis que yo soy, y que nada hago por mí mismo, sino que según me enseñó el Padre, así hablo.
29 Porque el que me envió, conmigo está; no me ha dejado solo el Padre, porque yo hago siempre lo que le agrada.
30 Hablando él estas cosas, muchos creyeron en él.
31 Dijo entonces Jesús a los judíos que habían creído en él: Si vosotros permaneciereis en mi palabra, seréis verdaderamente mis discípulos;
32 y conoceréis la verdad, y la verdad os hará libres.
36 Así que, si el Hijo os libertare, seréis verdaderamente libres.
28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
14 Si algo pidiereis en mi nombre, yo lo haré.
15 Si me amáis, guardad mis mandamientos.
16 Y yo rogaré al Padre, y os dará otro Consolador, para que esté con vosotros para siempre;
17 el Espíritu de verdad, al cual el mundo no puede recibir, porque no le ve, ni le conoce; pero vosotros le conocéis, porque mora con vosotros, y estará en vosotros.
26 Mas el Consolador, el Espíritu Santo, a quien el Padre enviará en mi nombre, él os enseñará todas las cosas, y os recordará todo lo que yo os he dicho.
27 La paz os dejo, mi paz os doy; yo no os la doy como el mundo la da. No se turbe vuestro corazón, ni tenga miedo.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
1 Estad, pues, firmes en la libertad con que Cristo nos hizo libres, y no estéis otra vez sujetos al yugo de esclavitud.
13 Porque vosotros, hermanos, a libertad fuisteis llamados; solamente que no uséis la libertad como ocasión para la carne, sino servíos por amor los unos a los otros.
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Más allá de las frágiles premisas de las creencias humanas, fuera del dominio cada vez más débil de los credos, está la demostración de la curación cristiana por la Mente, una Ciencia revelada y práctica. Impera a través de todos los siglos como la revelación de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor, hecha por el Cristo y que permanece intacta para que toda la humanidad la comprenda y practique.
Beyond the frail premises of human beliefs, above the loosening grasp of creeds, the demonstration of Christian Mind-healing stands a revealed and practical Science. It is imperious throughout all ages as Christ's revelation of Truth, of Life, and of Love, which remains inviolate for every man to understand and to practise.
La samaritana dijo: "Venid, ved a un hombre que me ha dicho todo cuanto he hecho. ¿No será éste el Cristo?"
The Samaritan woman said: "Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?"
El Cristo, la Verdad, fue demostrado por medio de Jesús para probar el poder del Espíritu sobre la carne —para mostrar que la Verdad se manifiesta en sus efectos sobre la mente y el cuerpo humanos, sanando a la enfermedad y destruyendo al pecado.
Jesús representaba al Cristo, la idea verdadera de Dios.
Christ, Truth, was demonstrated through Jesus to prove the power of Spirit over the flesh, — to show that Truth is made manifest by its effects upon the human mind and body, healing sickness and destroying sin.
Jesus represented Christ, the true idea of God.
Pablo dijo: "Andad en el Espíritu, y no satisfagáis los deseos de la carne". Tarde o temprano aprenderemos que las cadenas de la capacidad finita del hombre las forja la ilusión de que él vive en el cuerpo en lugar de en el Alma, en la materia en lugar de en el Espíritu.
Paul said, "Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." Sooner or later we shall learn that the fetters of man's finite capacity are forged by the illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter instead of in Spirit.
Negar las pretensiones de la materia es un gran paso hacia las alegrías del Espíritu, hacia la libertad humana y el triunfo final sobre el cuerpo.
Denial of the claims of matter is a great step towards the joys of Spirit, towards human freedom and the final triumph over the body.
Ni la edad ni los accidentes pueden perjudicar a los sentidos del Alma, y no existen otros sentidos que sean verdaderos. …Los sentidos del Espíritu están sin dolor y siempre en paz. Nada puede ocultarles la armonía de todas las cosas y el poder y la permanencia de la Verdad.
Neither age nor accident can interfere with the senses of Soul, and there are no other real senses. … Spirit's senses are without pain, and they are forever at peace. Nothing can hide from them the harmony of all things and the might and permanence of Truth.
Hombres y mujeres de toda región y raza son esclavos todavía del sentido material; ignoran cómo obtener su libertad. Los derechos del hombre fueron vindicados en una sola región y en el plano más bajo de la vida humana, cuando la esclavitud africana fue abolida en nuestro país. Eso sólo fue presagio de mayores adelantos encaminados a proscribir una esclavitud mundial que se halla en planos más elevados de la existencia y bajo formas más arteras y depravadas.
La voz de Dios a favor del esclavo africano aún resonaba en nuestro país cuando la voz del heraldo de esa nueva cruzada dio la nota tónica de la libertad universal, pidiendo más amplio reconocimiento de los derechos del hombre como Hijo de Dios, exigiendo que las cadenas del pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte se arrancasen de la mente humana y que su libertad se lograse no mediante la guerra entre los hombres, ni con bayoneta y sangre, sino mediante la Ciencia divina de Cristo.
Dios ha erigido una plataforma de derechos humanos más elevada, y la ha erigido sobre reivindicaciones más divinas. Esas reivindicaciones no se expresan por medio de códigos o credos, sino en demostración de "en la tierra paz, buena voluntad para con los hombres". Los códigos humanos, la teología escolástica, la medicina e higiene materiales encadenan a la fe y a la comprensión espiritual. La Ciencia divina rompe esas cadenas y hace valer el derecho natural del hombre de tributar homenaje sólo a su Hacedor.
Vi ante mí a los enfermos, consumiendo años de servidumbre sujetos a un amo irreal en la creencia de que el cuerpo los gobernaba, en vez de la Mente.
A los lisiados, los sordos, los mudos, los ciegos, los enfermos, los sensuales y los pecadores quise salvar de la esclavitud de sus propias creencias y de los sistemas educativos de los faraones, quienes hoy, como antaño, tienen a los hijos de Israel en servidumbre. Vi ante mí el terrible conflicto, el Mar Rojo y el desierto; pero me abrí paso con fe en Dios, confiando en la Verdad, el fuerte libertador, para que me guiara hacia la tierra de la Ciencia Cristiana, donde las cadenas caen y los derechos del hombre son plenamente conocidos y reconocidos.
Vi que la ley de la creencia mortal incluía todo error, y que así como se combate a las leyes opresoras y se les enseña a los mortales su derecho a la libertad, así las pretensiones de los sentidos esclavizantes deben negarse y reemplazarse. La ley de la Mente divina tiene que acabar con la servidumbre humana, o los mortales continuarán sin conocer los derechos inalienables del hombre y sujetos a una esclavitud sin esperanza, porque algunos educadores públicos permiten ignorancia respecto al poder divino —ignorancia que es la base de continua servidumbre y de sufrimiento humano.
Al comprender los derechos del hombre, no podemos dejar de prever el fin de toda opresión. La esclavitud no es el estado legítimo del hombre. Dios creó libre al hombre. Pablo dijo: "Soy libre de nacimiento"*. Todos los hombres debieran ser libres. "Donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad".
Men and women of all climes and races are still in bondage to material sense, ignorant how to obtain their freedom. The rights of man were vindicated in a single section and on the lowest plane of human life, when African slavery was abolished in our land. That was only prophetic of further steps towards the banishment of a worldwide slavery, found on higher planes of existence and under more subtle and depraving forms.
The voice of God in behalf of the African slave was still echoing in our land, when the voice of the herald of this new crusade sounded the keynote of universal freedom, asking a fuller acknowledgment of the rights of man as a Son of God, demanding that the fetters of sin, sickness, and death be stricken from the human mind and that its freedom be won, not through human warfare, not with bayonet and blood, but through Christ's divine Science.
God has built a higher platform of human rights, and He has built it on diviner claims. These claims are not made through code or creed, but in demonstration of "on earth peace, goodwill toward men." Human codes, scholastic theology, material medicine and hygiene, fetter faith and spiritual understanding. Divine Science rends asunder these fetters, and man's birthright of sole allegiance to his Maker asserts itself.
I saw before me the sick, wearing out years of servitude to an unreal master in the belief that the body governed them, rather than Mind.
The lame, the deaf, the dumb, the blind, the sick, the sensual, the sinner, I wished to save from the slavery of their own beliefs and from the educational systems of the Pharaohs, who to-day, as of yore, hold the children of Israel in bondage. I saw before me the awful conflict, the Red Sea and the wilderness; but I pressed on through faith in God, trusting Truth, the strong deliverer, to guide me into the land of Christian Science, where fetters fall and the rights of man are fully known and acknowledged.
I saw that the law of mortal belief included all error, and that, even as oppressive laws are disputed and mortals are taught their right to freedom, so the claims of the enslaving senses must be denied and superseded. The law of the divine Mind must end human bondage, or mortals will continue unaware of man's inalienable rights and in subjection to hopeless slavery, because some public teachers permit an ignorance of divine power, — an ignorance that is the foundation of continued bondage and of human suffering.
Discerning the rights of man, we cannot fail to foresee the doom of all oppression. Slavery is not the legitimate state of man. God made man free. Paul said, "I was free born." All men should be free. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
La Ciencia Cristiana alza el estandarte de la libertad y exclama: "¡Seguidme a mí! ¡Escapad de la esclavitud de la enfermedad, del pecado y de la muerte!" Jesús trazó el camino. Ciudadanos del mundo, ¡aceptad la "libertad gloriosa de los hijos de Dios" y sed libres! Ése es vuestro derecho divino. La ilusión de los sentidos materiales, y no la ley divina, os ha atado, ha enredado vuestros miembros libres, paralizado vuestras capacidades, debilitado vuestro cuerpo y desfigurado la tabla de vuestra existencia.
Si Dios hubiese instituido leyes materiales para gobernar al hombre y si éste hubiera enfermado por desobedecerlas, Jesús no hubiera desatendido esas leyes, curando en directa oposición a ellas y desafiando todas las condiciones materiales.
Christian Science raises the standard of liberty and cries: "Follow me! Escape from the bondage of sickness, sin, and death!" Jesus marked out the way. Citizens of the world, accept the "glorious liberty of the children of God," and be free! This is your divine right. The illusion of material sense, not divine law, has bound you, entangled your free limbs, crippled your capacities, enfeebled your body, and defaced the tablet of your being.
If God had instituted material laws to govern man, disobedience to which would have made man ill, Jesus would not have disregarded those laws by healing in direct opposition to them and in defiance of all material conditions.
La Ciencia Cristiana revela que Dios no es el autor del pecado, la enfermedad y la muerte, sino que es Principio divino, Ser Supremo, Mente, y que está exento de todo mal.
No hay ciencia física, puesto que toda verdad procede de la Mente divina. Por tanto, la verdad no es humana, ni es una ley de la materia, porque la materia no es un legislador. La Ciencia es una emanación de la Mente divina, y sólo ella es capaz de interpretar a Dios correctamente. Su origen es espiritual, no material. Es una declaración divina —el Consolador que guía a toda la verdad.
Christian Science reveals God, not as the author of sin, sickness, and death, but as divine Principle, Supreme Being, Mind, exempt from all evil.
There is no physical science, inasmuch as all truth proceeds from the divine Mind. Therefore truth is not human, and is not a law of matter, for matter is not a lawgiver. Science is an emanation of divine Mind, and is alone able to interpret God aright. It has a spiritual, and not a material origin. It is a divine utterance, — the Comforter which leadeth into all truth.
En las palabras de San Juan: "Os dará otro Consolador, para que esté con vosotros para siempre". Entiendo que ese Consolador es la Ciencia Divina.
In the words of St. John: "He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever." This Comforter I understand to be Divine Science.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
