“Jehová se manifestó a mí hace ya mucho tiempo, diciendo: Con amor eterno te he amado; por tanto, te prolongué mi misericordia.”

7. Amados, amémonos unos a otros; porque el amor es de Dios. Todo aquel que ama, es nacido de Dios, y conoce a Dios.
8. El que no ama, no ha conocido a Dios; porque Dios es amor.
10. En esto consiste el amor: no en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que él nos amó a nosotros.
11. Amados, si Dios nos ha amado así, debemos también nosotros amarnos unos a otros.
9. Conoce, pues, que Jehová tu Dios es Dios, Dios fiel, que guarda el pacto y la misericordia a los que le aman y guardan sus mandamientos, hasta mil generaciones.
13. Y te amará, te bendecirá y te multiplicará.
7. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
10. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us.
11. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
9. Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.

16 Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo, que ha dado a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo aquel que en él cree, no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
23 Y recorrió Jesús toda Galilea, enseñando en las sinagogas de ellos, y predicando el evangelio del reino, y sanando toda enfermedad y toda dolencia en el pueblo.
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
12 Y al entrar en una aldea, le salieron al encuentro diez hombres leprosos, los cuales se pararon de lejos:
13 y alzaron la voz, diciendo: ¡Jesús, Maestro, ten misericordia de nosotros!
14 Cuando él los vio, les dijo: Id, mostraos a los sacerdotes. Y aconteció que mientras iban, fueron limpiados.
15 Entonces uno de ellos, viendo que había sido sanado, volvió, glorificando a Dios a gran voz,
16 y se postró rostro en tierra a sus pies, dándole gracias; y este era samaritano.
17 Respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¿No son diez los que fueron limpiados? Y los nueve, ¿dónde están?
18 ¿No hubo quien volviese y diese gloria a Dios sino este extranjero?
19 Y le dijo: Levántate, vete; tu fe te ha salvado.
12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

36 Uno de los fariseos rogó a Jesús que comiese con él. Y habiendo entrado en casa del fariseo, se sentó a la mesa.
37 Entonces una mujer de la ciudad, que era pecadora, al saber que Jesús estaba a la mesa en casa del fariseo, trajo un frasco de alabastro con perfume,
38 y estando detrás de él a sus pies, llorando, comenzó a regar con lágrimas sus pies, y los enjugaba con sus cabellos; y besaba sus pies, y los ungía con el perfume.
39 Cuando vio esto el fariseo que le había convidado, dijo para sí: Este, si fuera profeta, conocería quién y qué clase de mujer es la que le toca, que es pecadora.
40 Entonces respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Simón, una cosa tengo que decirte. Y él le dijo: Di, Maestro.
41 Un acreedor tenía dos deudores: el uno le debía quinientos denarios, y el otro cincuenta.
42 y no teniendo ellos con qué pagar, perdonó a ambos. Di, pues, ¿cuál de ellos le amará más?
43 Respondiendo Simón, dijo: Pienso que aquel a quien perdonó más. Y él le dijo: Rectamente has juzgado.
44 Y vuelto a la mujer, dijo a Simón: ¿Ves esta mujer? Entré en tu casa, y no me diste agua para mis pies; mas esta ha regado mis pies con lágrimas, y los ha enjugado con sus cabellos.
45 No me diste beso; mas esta, desde que entré, no ha cesado de besar mis pies.
46 No ungiste mi cabeza con aceite; mas esta ha ungido con perfume mis pies.
47 Por lo cual te digo que sus muchos pecados le son perdonados, porque amó mucho; mas aquel a quien se le perdona poco, poco ama.
48 Y a ella le dijo: Tus pecados te son perdonados.
49 Y los que estaban juntamente sentados a la mesa, comenzaron a decir entre sí: ¿Quién es este, que también perdona pecados?
50 Pero él dijo a la mujer: Tu fe te ha salvado, ve en paz.
36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
7 Volvió, pues, Jesús a decirles:
11 Yo soy el buen pastor; el buen pastor su vida da por las ovejas.
14 Yo soy el buen pastor; y conozco mis ovejas, y las mías me conocen,
15 así como el Padre me conoce, y yo conozco al Padre; y pongo mi vida por las ovejas.
17 Por eso me ama el Padre, porque yo pongo mi vida, para volverla a tomar.
18 Nadie me la quita, sino que yo de mí mismo la pongo. Tengo poder para ponerla, y tengo poder para volverla a tomar. Este mandamiento recibí de mi Padre.
27 Mis ovejas oyen mi voz, y yo las conozco, y me siguen,
28 y yo les doy vida eterna; y no perecerán jamás, ni nadie las arrebatará de mi mano.
29 Mi Padre que me las dio, es mayor que todos, y nadie las puede arrebatar de la mano de mi Padre.
30 Yo y el Padre uno somos.
7 Then said Jesus unto them again,
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
9 Como el Padre me ha amado, así también yo os he amado; permaneced en mi amor.
12 Este es mi mandamiento: Que os améis unos a otros, como yo os he amado.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
27 …pues el Padre mismo os ama, porque vosotros me habéis amado, y habéis creído que yo salí de Dios.
27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
24 La gracia sea con todos los que aman a nuestro Señor Jesucristo con amor inalterable.
24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity.
"Dios es Amor". Más que eso no podemos pedir, más alto no podemos mirar, más allá no podemos ir.
"God is Love." More than this we cannot ask, higher we cannot look, farther we cannot go.
Rabino y sacerdote enseñaron la ley mosaica que decía: "Ojo por ojo", y "El que derramare sangre de hombre, por el hombre su sangre será derramada". No fue así como Jesús, el nuevo ejecutor de la voluntad de Dios, presentó la ley divina del Amor, que bendice aun aquellos que la maldicen.
Rabbi and priest taught the Mosaic law, which said: "An eye for an eye," and "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed." Not so did Jesus, the new executor for God, present the divine law of Love, which blesses even those that curse it.
De los diez leprosos que Jesús sanó, sólo uno volvió para dar gracias a Dios, es decir, para reconocer el Principio divino que lo había sanado.
Of the ten lepers whom Jesus healed, but one returned to give God thanks, — that is, to acknowledge the divine Principle which had healed him.
Jesús enseñó a sus discípulos que el primer deber en la lista de los deberes cristianos es el de aplicar el poder curativo de la Verdad y el Amor.
First in the list of Christian duties, he taught his followers the healing power of Truth and Love.
En el capítulo séptimo del Evangelio según San Lucas se relata que una vez Jesús fue huésped de honor de cierto fariseo, de nombre Simón, aunque era muy distinto de Simón el discípulo. Mientras estaban a la mesa, ocurrió un incidente insólito, como si fuera para interrumpir la escena festiva oriental. Entró una "ramera".
It is related in the seventh chapter of Luke's Gospel that Jesus was once the honored guest of a certain Pharisee, by name Simon, though he was quite unlike Simon the disciple. While they were at meat, an unusual incident occurred, as if to interrupt the scene of Oriental festivity. A "strange woman" came in.
Llevaba ella un frasco de alabastro … Abriendo el frasco sellado, perfumó los pies de Jesús con el aceite, enjugándolos con su larga cabellera, que caía suelta sobre los hombros como acostumbraban llevarla las mujeres de su clase.
¿Desdeñó Jesús a la mujer? ¿Rechazó su adoración? ¡No! La miró con compasión. Pero eso no fue todo. Sabiendo lo que decían en su corazón los que le rodeaban, particularmente su anfitrión —asombrados de que, siendo profeta, el eminente huésped no hubiera descubierto en seguida el estado inmoral de la mujer y le ordenara marcharse— sabiendo eso, Jesús les reprendió con un breve relato o parábola. Describió a dos deudores, uno que debía una suma grande y otro una menor, a quienes les fueron perdonadas sus deudas por su acreedor común. "¿Cuál de ellos le amará más?" fue la pregunta del Maestro a Simón el fariseo; y Simón respondió: "Aquel a quien perdonó más". Jesús aprobó la respuesta, haciendo sentir claramente la lección a todos y siguiéndola con aquella notable declaración hecha a la mujer: "Tus pecados te son perdonados".
Con sus lágrimas le había regado ella sus pies antes de ungirlos con el aceite. A falta de otras pruebas, ¿ofrecía su pesar suficiente evidencia para que se justificara la esperanza de su arrepentimiento, reforma y crecimiento en sabiduría? Ciertamente era alentador el mero hecho que demostraba su afecto por un hombre de indudable bondad y pureza, quien desde entonces se ha considerado con toda justicia el mejor hombre que ha andado sobre este planeta. La veneración que ella manifestó era sincera y fue expresada a quien pronto, aunque ellos lo ignoraban, iba a entregar su existencia mortal en favor de todos los pecadores, para que por sus palabras y obras pudieran ser redimidos de la sensualidad y el pecado.
A tan inefable afecto ¿qué tributo fue mayor —la hospitalidad del fariseo o la contrición de la Magdalena?
She bore an alabaster jar … Breaking the sealed jar, she perfumed Jesus' feet with the oil, wiping them with her long hair, which hung loosely about her shoulders, as was customary with women of her grade.
Did Jesus spurn the woman? Did he repel her adoration? No! He regarded her compassionately. Nor was this all. Knowing what those around him were saying in their hearts, especially his host, — that they were wondering why, being a prophet, the exalted guest did not at once detect the woman's immoral status and bid her depart, — knowing this, Jesus rebuked them with a short story or parable. He described two debtors, one for a large sum and one for a smaller, who were released from their obligations by their common creditor. "Which of them will love him most?" was the Master's question to Simon the Pharisee; and Simon replied, "He to whom he forgave most." Jesus approved the answer, and so brought home the lesson to all, following it with that remarkable declaration to the woman, "Thy sins are forgiven."
She bathed his feet with her tears before she anointed them with the oil. In the absence of other proofs, was her grief sufficient evidence to warrant the expectation of her repentance, reformation, and growth in wisdom? Certainly there was encouragement in the mere fact that she was showing her affection for a man of undoubted goodness and purity, who has since been rightfully regarded as the best man that ever trod this planet. Her reverence was unfeigned, and it was manifested towards one who was soon, though they knew it not, to lay down his mortal existence in behalf of all sinners, that through his word and works they might be redeemed from sensuality and sin.
Which was the higher tribute to such ineffable affection, the hospitality of the Pharisee or the contrition of the Magdalen?
Eso es lo que significa buscar la Verdad, el Cristo, no "por los panes y los peces", ni como el fariseo, con la arrogancia de la jerarquía y el alarde de la erudición, sino como María Magdalena, desde la cumbre de la consagración devota, con óleo de alegría y perfume de gratitud, con lágrimas de arrepentimiento y con esos cabellos todos contados por el Padre.
This is what is meant by seeking Truth, Christ, not "for the loaves and fishes," nor, like the Pharisee, with the arrogance of rank and display of scholarship, but like Mary Magdalene, from the summit of devout consecration, with the oil of gladness and the perfume of gratitude, with tears of repentance and with those hairs all numbered by the Father.
La sustancia de toda devoción es el reflejo y la demostración del Amor divino, que sanan a la enfermedad y destruyen al pecado. Nuestro Maestro dijo: "Si me amáis, guardad mis mandamientos".
The substance of all devotion is the reflection and demonstration of divine Love, healing sickness and destroying sin. Our Master said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."
Jesús enseñó un único Dios, un Espíritu único, que hace al hombre a imagen y semejanza de Sí mismo —del Espíritu, no de la materia. El hombre refleja la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor infinitos.
Jesus taught but one God, one Spirit, who makes man in the image and likeness of Himself, — of Spirit, not of matter. Man reflects infinite Truth, Life, and Love.
Jesús ayudó a reconciliar al hombre con Dios dando al hombre un concepto más verdadero del Amor, el Principio divino de las enseñanzas de Jesús, y ese concepto más verdadero del Amor redime al hombre de la ley de la materia, del pecado y de la muerte, por la ley del Espíritu —la ley del Amor divino.
Jesus aided in reconciling man to God by giving man a truer sense of Love, the divine Principle of Jesus' teachings, and this truer sense of Love redeems man from the law of matter, sin, and death by the law of Spirit, — the law of divine Love.
Un solo Dios infinito, el bien, unifica a los hombres y a las naciones; constituye la hermandad del hombre; pone fin a las guerras; cumple el mandato de las Escrituras: "Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo"; aniquila a la idolatría pagana y a la cristiana —todo lo que es injusto en los códigos sociales, civiles, criminales, políticos y religiosos; establece la igualdad de los sexos; anula la maldición que pesa sobre el hombre, y no deja nada que pueda pecar, sufrir, ser castigado o destruido.
One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, "Love thy neighbor as thyself;" annihilates pagan and Christian idolatry, — whatever is wrong in social, civil, criminal, political, and religious codes; equalizes the sexes; annuls the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed.
En el siguiente Salmo una sola palabra demuestra, aunque débilmente, la luz que la Ciencia Cristiana proyecta sobre las Escrituras, al sustituir el concepto corpóreo con el concepto incorpóreo o espiritual respecto a la Deidad: -

In the following Psalm one word shows, though faintly, the light which Christian Science throws on the Scriptures by substituting for the corporeal sense, the incorporeal or spiritual sense of Deity: —
[Divine love] is my shepherd; I shall not want.
[Love] maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
[love] leadeth me beside the still waters.
[Love] restoreth my soul [spiritual sense]: [love] leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for [love] is with me; [love’s] rod and [love’s] staff they comfort me.
[Love] prepareth a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: [love] anointeth my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house [the consciousness] of [love] for ever.
La parte vital, el corazón y alma de la Ciencia Cristiana, es el Amor.
The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
