“Este es el día que hizo Jehová; Nos gozaremos y alegraremos en él. Alabad a Jehová, porque él es bueno; Porque para siempre es su misericordia.”

2. Hermanos míos, tened por sumo gozo cuando os halléis en diversas pruebas,
3. sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe produce paciencia.
4. Mas tenga la paciencia su obra completa, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin que os falte cosa alguna.
12. Bienaventurado el varón que soporta la tentación; porque cuando haya resistido la prueba, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido a los que le aman.
16. Amados hermanos míos, no erréis.
17. Toda buena dádiva y todo don perfecto desciende de lo alto, del Padre de las luces, en el cual no hay mudanza, ni sombra de variación.
25. Mas el que mira atentamente en la perfecta ley, la de la libertad, y persevera en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, este será bienaventurado en lo que hace.
27. La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios el Padre es esta: Visitar a los huérfanos y a las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha del mundo.
2. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3. Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
12. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
16. Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
25. Whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
27. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
10 … andéis como es digno del Señor, agradándole en todo, llevando fruto en toda buena obra, y creciendo en el conocimiento de Dios;
11 fortalecidos con todo poder, conforme a la potencia de su gloria, para toda paciencia y longanimidad; con gozo;

1 Palabras de Nehemías… estando yo en Susa, capital del reino,
2 vino Hanani, uno de mis hermanos, con algunos varones de Judá,
3 El remanente, los que quedaron de la cautividad, allí en la provincia, están en gran mal y afrenta, y el muro de Jerusalén derribado, y sus puertas quemadas a fuego.
1 The words of Nehemiah … as I was in Shushan the palace,
2 Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah;
3 And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
5 y dije al rey: Si le place al rey, y tu siervo ha hallado gracia delante de ti, envíame a Judá, a la ciudad de los sepulcros de mis padres, y la reedificaré.
6 Entonces el rey me dijo, … ¿Cuánto durará tu viaje, y cuándo volverás? Y agradó al rey enviarme, después que yo le señalé tiempo.
11 Llegué, pues, a Jerusalén,
17 Les dije, pues: … venid, y edifiquemos el muro de Jerusalén, y no estemos más en oprobio.
5 And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’ sepulchres, that I may build it.
6 And the king said unto me, … For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
11 So I came to Jerusalem,
17 Then said I unto them, … come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
6 Edificamos, pues, el muro,
7 Pero aconteció que oyendo Sanbalat y Tobías, y los árabes, los amonitas y los de Asdod, que los muros de Jerusalén eran reparados, … se encolerizaron mucho;
8 y conspiraron todos a una para venir a atacar a Jerusalén y hacerle daño.
9 Entonces oramos a nuestro Dios, y por causa de ellos pusimos guarda contra ellos de día y de noche.
15 Y cuando oyeron nuestros enemigos que lo habíamos entendido, y que Dios había desbaratado el consejo de ellos, nos volvimos todos al muro, cada uno a su tarea.
6 So built we the wall;
7 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, … they were very wroth,
8 And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.
9 Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
15 And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
1 Luego que el muro fue edificado, y colocadas las puertas, y fueron señalados porteros y cantores y levitas,
1 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
1 … se juntó todo el pueblo… y dijeron a Esdras el escriba que trajese el libro de la ley de Moisés,
8 Y leían en el libro de la ley de Dios claramente,
9 Y Nehemías, … [dijo] a todo el pueblo: Día santo es a Jehová nuestro Dios; no os entristezcáis, ni lloréis; porque todo el pueblo lloraba oyendo las palabras de la ley.
10 Luego les dijo: Id, comed grosuras, y bebed vino dulce, y enviad porciones a los que no tienen nada preparado; porque día santo es a nuestro Señor; no os entristezcáis, porque el gozo de Jehová es vuestra fuerza.
1 …all the people gathered themselves together … and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses,
8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly,
9 And Nehemiah, … said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the Lord your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
17 Porque esta leve tribulación momentánea produce en nosotros un cada vez más excelente y eterno peso de gloria;
18 no mirando nosotros las cosas que se ven, sino las que no se ven; pues las cosas que se ven son temporales, pero las que no se ven son eternas.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
25 Porque vosotros erais como ovejas descarriadas, pero ahora habéis vuelto al Pastor y Obispo de vuestras almas.
25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
La gratitud es mucho más que una mera expresión verbal de agradecimiento. Las acciones expresan más gratitud que las palabras.
Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech.
Lo que más necesitamos es la oración del deseo ferviente de crecer en gracia, oración que se expresa en paciencia, humildad, amor y buenas obras.
What we most need is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace, expressed in patience, meekness, love, and good deeds.
Si no sentimos gratitud por la Vida, la Verdad y el Amor, y no obstante damos gracias a Dios por toda bendición, somos insinceros e incurrimos en la censura severa que nuestro Maestro dirige a los hipócritas. En tal caso, la única oración aceptable es poner el dedo sobre los labios y recordar nuestras bendiciones. Mientras el corazón está lejos de la Verdad y el Amor divinos, no podemos ocultar la ingratitud de una vida estéril.
If we are ungrateful for Life, Truth, and Love, and yet return thanks to God for all blessings, we are insincere and incur the sharp censure our Master pronounces on hypocrites. In such a case, the only acceptable prayer is to put the finger on the lips and remember our blessings. While the heart is far from divine Truth and Love, we cannot conceal the ingratitude of barren lives.
Las dolorosas experiencias que resultan de la creencia en la supuesta vida de la materia, así como nuestros desengaños e incesantes angustias, hacen que vayamos, cual niños cansados, a los brazos del Amor divino. Entonces empezamos a conocer la Vida en la Ciencia divina.
The sharp experiences of belief in the supposititious life of matter, as well as our disappointments and ceaseless woes, turn us like tired children to the arms of divine Love. Then we begin to learn Life in divine Science.
Los saludables castigos del Amor nos ayudan a progresar en nuestra jornada hacia la rectitud, la paz y la pureza, que son las señales del camino de la Ciencia.
Through the wholesome chastisements of Love, we are helped onward in the march towards righteousness, peace, and purity, which are the landmarks of Science.
Alcanzamos la Ciencia del cristianismo demostrando la naturaleza divina; pero en este mundo malvado será "vituperado vuestro bien", y la paciencia tiene que traer experiencia.
We reach the Science of Christianity through demonstration of the divine nature; but in this wicked world goodness will "be evil spoken of," and patience must bring experience.
Sé alerta, sobrio y vigilante. El camino que lleva a la comprensión de que Dios es la única Vida, es recto y angosto. Es una lucha con la carne, lucha en la que tenemos que vencer al pecado, a la enfermedad y a la muerte, ya sea aquí o en el más allá —pero ciertamente antes que podamos alcanzar la meta del Espíritu, o la vida en Dios.
Be watchful, sober, and vigilant. The way is straight and narrow, which leads to the understanding that God is the only Life. It is a warfare with the flesh, in which we must conquer sin, sickness, and death, either here or hereafter, — certainly before we can reach the goal of Spirit, or life in God.
"Ocupaos en vuestra salvación", es la exigencia de la Vida y el Amor, porque para este fin Dios obra con vosotros. "¡Negociad entre tanto que vengo!" Aguardad vuestra recompensa, y "no os canséis de hacer bien". Si vuestros esfuerzos son acosados por dificultades terribles y no recibís recompensa inmediata, no volváis al error, ni corráis con pereza en la carrera.
Cuando el humo de la batalla se disipe, percibiréis el bien que habéis hecho, y recibiréis conforme a vuestro merecimiento. El Amor no se apresura a librarnos de la tentación, porque el Amor quiere que seamos probados y purificados.
"Work out your own salvation," is the demand of Life and Love, for to this end God worketh with you. "Occupy till I come!" Wait for your reward, and "be not weary in well doing." If your endeavors are beset by fearful odds, and you receive no present reward, go not back to error, nor become a sluggard in the race.
When the smoke of battle clears away, you will discern the good you have done, and receive according to your deserving. Love is not hasty to deliver us from temptation, for Love means that we shall be tried and purified.
Piensa en eso, querido lector, pues ha de levantar el cilicio de tus ojos y verás la paloma de suaves alas descendiendo sobre ti. La circunstancia misma que tu sentido sufriente considera enojosa y aflictiva, puede convertirla el Amor en un ángel que hospedas sin saberlo.
Think of this, dear reader, for it will lift the sackcloth from your eyes, and you will behold the soft-winged dove descending upon you. The very circumstance, which your suffering sense deems wrathful and afflictive, Love can make an angel entertained unawares.
Los efectos de la Ciencia Cristiana se ven menos de lo que se sienten. Es la "voz callada y suave"de la Verdad, expresándose. O bien nos estamos alejando de esa expresión, o la estamos escuchando y elevándonos. El estar dispuesto a llegar a ser como un niño y dejar lo viejo por lo nuevo, dispone al pensamiento para recibir la idea avanzada. Alegría de abandonar las falsas señales del camino y regocijo al verlas desaparecer es la disposición que ayuda a acelerar la armonía final. La purificación de los sentidos y del yo es prueba de progreso. "Bienaventurados los de limpio corazón, porque ellos verán a Dios".
The effects of Christian Science are not so much seen as felt. It is the "still, small voice" of Truth uttering itself. We are either turning away from this utterance, or we are listening to it and going up higher. Willingness to become as a little child and to leave the old for the new, renders thought receptive of the advanced idea. Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear, — this disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony. The purification of sense and self is a proof of progress. "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God."
¿Quién que ha perdido la paz humana no ha deseado más vivamente el goce espiritual? La aspiración al bien celestial nos viene aun antes que descubramos lo que pertenece a la sabiduría y al Amor. La pérdida de esperanzas y placeres terrenales ilumina la senda ascendente de muchos corazones. Los dolores de los sentidos no tardan en informarnos que los placeres de los sentidos son mortales y que el gozo es espiritual.
Who that has felt the loss of human peace has not gained stronger desires for spiritual joy? The aspiration after heavenly good comes even before we discover what belongs to wisdom and Love. The loss of earthly hopes and pleasures brightens the ascending path of many a heart. The pains of sense quickly inform us that the pleasures of sense are mortal and that joy is spiritual.
La felicidad del hombre no está, por lo tanto, a merced del sentido físico.
Man's happiness is not, therefore, at the disposal of physical sense.
El pobre corazón adolorido necesita de su legítimo nutrimento, tal como paz, paciencia en las tribulaciones y un inestimable sentido de la bondad del amado Padre.
The poor suffering heart needs its rightful nutriment, such as peace, patience in tribulation, and a priceless sense of the dear Father's loving-kindness.
El Amor inspira el camino, lo ilumina, lo designa y va adelante en él. Los móviles rectos dan alas al pensamiento, y fuerza y soltura a la palabra y a la acción. El amor es sacerdote en el altar de la Verdad. Esperad pacientemente a que el Amor divino se mueva sobre la faz de las aguas de la mente mortal y forme el concepto perfecto. La paciencia debe "tener su obra completa".
Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way. Right motives give pinions to thought, and strength and freedom to speech and action. Love is priestess at the altar of Truth. Wait patiently for divine Love to move upon the waters of mortal mind, and form the perfect concept. Patience must "have her perfect work."
Ésta es la doctrina de la Ciencia Cristiana: que el Amor divino no puede ser privado de su manifestación u objeto; que el gozo no puede convertirse en pesar, porque el pesar no es el vencedor del gozo; que el bien nunca puede producir el mal; que la materia jamás puede producir a la mente, ni la vida resultar en muerte. El hombre perfecto —gobernado por Dios, su Principio perfecto— es sin pecado y eterno.
This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind nor life result in death. The perfect man — governed by God, his perfect Principle — is sinless and eternal.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
