22 Jehová redime el alma de sus siervos, y no serán condenados cuantos en él confían.
22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

1 Entonces Elías tisbita, que era de los moradores de Galaad, dijo a Acab: Vive Jehová Dios de Israel, en cuya presencia estoy, que no habrá lluvia ni rocío en estos años, sino por mi palabra.
8 Vino luego a él palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
9 Levántate, vete a Sarepta de Sidón, y mora allí; he aquí yo he dado orden allí a una mujer viuda que te sustente.
17 Después de estas cosas aconteció que cayó enfermo el hijo del ama de la casa; y la enfermedad fue tan grave que no quedó en él aliento.
18 Y ella dijo a Elías: ¿Qué tengo yo contigo, varón de Dios? ¿Has venido a mí para traer a memoria mis iniquidades, y para hacer morir a mi hijo?
19 El le dijo: Dame acá tu hijo. Entonces él lo tomó de su regazo, y lo llevó al aposento donde él estaba, y lo puso sobre su cama.
20 Y clamando a Jehová, dijo: Jehová Dios mío, ¿aun a la viuda en cuya casa estoy hospedado has afligido, haciéndole morir su hijo?
21 Y se tendió sobre el niño tres veces, y clamó a Jehová y dijo: Jehová Dios mío, te ruego que hagas volver el alma de este niño a él.
22 Y Jehová oyó la voz de Elías, y el alma del niño volvió a él, y revivió.
23 Tomando luego Elías al niño, lo trajo del aposento a la casa, y lo dio a su madre, y le dijo Elías: Mira, tu hijo vive.
24 Entonces la mujer dijo a Elías: Ahora conozco que tú eres varón de Dios, y que la palabra de Jehová es verdad en tu boca.

8 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?
19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
20 And he cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.
22 And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.
24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.

3 Me rodearon ligaduras de muerte, me encontraron las angustias del Seol; Angustia y dolor había yo hallado.
4 Entonces invoqué el nombre de Jehová, diciendo: Oh Jehová, libra ahora mi alma.
7 Vuelve, oh alma mía, a tu reposo, porque Jehová te ha hecho bien.
8 Pues tú has librado mi alma de la muerte, mis ojos de lágrimas, y mis pies de resbalar.
1 I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

13 Viniendo Jesús a la región de Cesarea de Filipo, preguntó a sus discípulos, diciendo: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que es el Hijo del Hombre?
14 Ellos dijeron: Unos, Juan el Bautista; otros, Elías; y otros, Jeremías, o alguno de los profetas.
15 El les dijo: Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo?
16 Respondiendo Simón Pedro, dijo: Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo del Dios viviente.
17 Entonces le respondió Jesús: Bienaventurado eres, Simón, hijo de Jonás, porque no te lo reveló carne ni sangre, sino mi Padre que está en los cielos.

20 Entonces mandó a sus discípulos que a nadie dijesen que él era Jesús el Cristo.
21 Desde entonces comenzó Jesús a declarar a sus discípulos que le era necesario ir a Jerusalén y padecer mucho de los ancianos, de los principales sacerdotes y de los escribas; y ser muerto, y resucitar al tercer día.
24 Entonces Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, y tome su cruz, y sígame.
25 Porque todo el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; y todo el que pierda su vida por causa de mí, la hallará.
26 Porque ¿qué aprovechará al hombre, si ganare todo el mundo, y perdiere su alma? ¿O qué recompensa dará el hombre por su alma?
27 Porque el Hijo del Hombre vendrá en la gloria de su Padre con sus ángeles, y entonces pagará a cada uno conforme a sus obras.
28 De cierto os digo que hay algunos de los que están aquí, que no gustarán la muerte, hasta que hayan visto al Hijo del Hombre viniendo en su reino.
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Cæsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

23 … el mismo Dios de paz os santifique por completo; y todo vuestro ser, espíritu, alma y cuerpo, sea guardado irreprensible para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
23 …the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Sabiendo que el Alma y sus atributos se manifestaban eternamente por medio del hombre, el Maestro sanaba a los enfermos, daba vista a los ciegos, oído a los sordos, pies a los cojos, revelando así la acción científica de la Mente divina sobre mentes y cuerpos humanos, y dando una mejor comprensión del Alma y la salvación.
Knowing that Soul and its attributes were forever manifested through man, the Master healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, feet to the lame, thus bringing to light the scientific action of the divine Mind on human minds and bodies and giving a better understanding of Soul and salvation.
La Ciencia Cristiana explica que toda causa y todo efecto son mentales, no físicos. Levanta del Alma y del cuerpo el velo de misterio. Muestra la relación científica del hombre con Dios, desenreda las ambigüedades entrelazadas de la existencia y libera al pensamiento aprisionado. En la Ciencia divina, el universo, incluso el hombre, es espiritual, armonioso y eterno.
Christian Science explains all cause and effect as mental, not physical. It lifts the veil of mystery from Soul and body. It shows the scientific relation of man to God, disentangles the interlaced ambiguities of being, and sets free the imprisoned thought. In divine Science, the universe, including man, is spiritual, harmonious, and eternal.
Pregunta. — ¿Qué son el cuerpo y el Alma?
Respuesta. — La identidad es el reflejo del Espíritu, el reflejo en formas múltiples y variadas del Principio viviente, el Amor. El Alma es la sustancia, Vida e inteligencia del hombre, que está individualizada, pero no en la materia. El Alma jamás puede reflejar nada que sea inferior al Espíritu.
Question. — What are body and Soul?
Answer. — Identity is the reflection of Spirit, the reflection in multifarious forms of the living Principle, Love. Soul is the substance, Life, and intelligence of man, which is individualized, but not in matter. Soul can never reflect anything inferior to Spirit.
La Ciencia Cristiana, bien comprendida, conduce a la armonía eterna. Revela al único Dios vivo y verdadero y al hombre creado a Su semejanza; mientras que la creencia opuesta —de que el hombre procede de la materia y tiene comienzo y fin, de que es a la vez alma y cuerpo, bueno y malo, espiritual y material— resulta en discordia y mortalidad, en el error que tiene que ser destruido por la Verdad.
Christian Science, rightly understood, leads to eternal harmony. It brings to light the only living and true God and man as made in His likeness; whereas the opposite belief — that man originates in matter and has beginning and end, that he is both soul and body, both good and evil, both spiritual and material — terminates in discord and mortality, in the error which must be destroyed by Truth.
Al contemplar la salida del sol, comprobamos que creer que la tierra está en movimiento y el sol inmóvil, contradice la evidencia ante los sentidos. Así como la astronomía invierte la percepción humana del movimiento del sistema solar, así la Ciencia Cristiana invierte la aparente relación entre el Alma y el cuerpo y subordina el cuerpo a la Mente. Lo mismo pasa con el hombre, que no es sino el servidor humilde de la Mente que da reposo, aunque al sentido finito parezca no ser así. Pero jamás comprenderemos eso mientras admitamos que el alma está en el cuerpo o la mente en la materia, y que el hombre está incluido en la no-inteligencia. El Alma, o Espíritu, es Dios, inmutable y eterna; y el hombre coexiste con el Alma, Dios, y la refleja, porque el hombre es imagen de Dios.
In viewing the sunrise, one finds that it contradicts the evidence before the senses to believe that the earth is in motion and the sun at rest. As astronomy reverses the human perception of the movement of the solar system, so Christian Science reverses the seeming relation of Soul and body and makes body tributary to Mind. Thus it is with man, who is but the humble servant of the restful Mind, though it seems otherwise to finite sense. But we shall never understand this while we admit that soul is in body or mind in matter, and that man is included in non-intelligence. Soul, or Spirit, is God, unchangeable and eternal; and man coexists with and reflects Soul, God, for man is God's image.
Pablo dijo: "Andad en el Espíritu, y no satisfagáis los deseos de la carne". Tarde o temprano aprenderemos que las cadenas de la capacidad finita del hombre las forja la ilusión de que él vive en el cuerpo en lugar de en el Alma, en la materia en lugar de en el Espíritu.
Paul said, "Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." Sooner or later we shall learn that the fetters of man's finite capacity are forged by the illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter instead of in Spirit.
Nuestras teorías cometen el mismo error respecto al Alma y el cuerpo que el cometido por Ptolomeo respecto al sistema solar. Insisten en que el alma está en el cuerpo y que la mente, por tanto, está subordinada a la materia. La ciencia astronómica ha destruido la falsa teoría respecto a las relaciones de los cuerpos celestes, y la Ciencia Cristiana destruirá el error mayor en cuanto a nuestros cuerpos terrestres. Entonces aparecerán la idea y el Principio verdaderos del hombre. El desacierto ptolemaico no pudo afectar la armonía del ser como lo hace el error respecto al alma y al cuerpo, el cual invierte el orden de la Ciencia y asigna a la materia el poder y la prerrogativa del Espíritu, de modo que el hombre se convierte en la criatura absolutamente más débil e inarmónica del universo.
Our theories make the same mistake regarding Soul and body that Ptolemy made regarding the solar system. They insist that soul is in body and mind therefore tributary to matter. Astronomical science has destroyed the false theory as to the relations of the celestial bodies, and Christian Science will surely destroy the greater error as to our terrestrial bodies. The true idea and Principle of man will then appear. The Ptolemaic blunder could not affect the harmony of being as does the error relating to soul and body, which reverses the order of Science and assigns to matter the power and prerogative of Spirit, so that man becomes the most absolutely weak and inharmonious creature in the universe.
La creencia, inculcada por la enseñanza, de que el Alma está en el cuerpo, hace que los mortales consideren la muerte como un amigo, como un medio para pasar de la mortalidad hacia la inmortalidad y la felicidad. La Biblia califica a la muerte de enemigo, y Jesús venció a la muerte y a la sepultura en vez de rendirse a ellas. Él era "el camino". Para él, por lo tanto, la muerte no era el umbral que tenía que cruzar para entrar a la gloria viviente.
The educated belief that Soul is in the body causes mortals to regard death as a friend, as a stepping-stone out of mortality into immortality and bliss. The Bible calls death an enemy, and Jesus overcame death and the grave instead of yielding to them. He was "the way." To him, therefore, death was not the threshold over which he must pass into living glory.
Debido a las falsas nociones de que el alma mora en los sentidos y de que la mente mora en la materia, la creencia se desvía hacia una noción de pérdida o ausencia temporarias del alma, la verdad espiritual. Ese estado del error es el sueño mortal de que la vida y la sustancia existen en la materia, y está directamente opuesto a la realidad inmortal del ser. Mientras creamos que el alma puede pecar o que el Alma inmortal está en el cuerpo mortal, no podremos comprender jamás la Ciencia del ser. Cuando la humanidad comprenda esta Ciencia, será la ley de la Vida para el hombre —es decir, la ley superior del Alma, que prevalece sobre el sentido material mediante la armonía y la inmortalidad.
Through false estimates of soul as dwelling in sense and of mind as dwelling in matter, belief strays into a sense of temporary loss or absence of soul, spiritual truth. This state of error is the mortal dream of life and substance as existent in matter, and is directly opposite to the immortal reality of being. So long as we believe that soul can sin or that immortal Soul is in mortal body, we can never understand the Science of being. When humanity does understand this Science, it will become the law of Life to man, — even the higher law of Soul, which prevails over material sense through harmony and immortality.
Bien comprendido, en lugar de poseer un cuerpo material y sensible, el hombre tiene un cuerpo insensible; y Dios, el Alma del hombre y de toda la existencia, siendo perpetuo en Su propia individualidad, armonía e inmortalidad, imparte y perpetúa esas cualidades en el hombre —por medio de la Mente, no de la materia. La única excusa para abrigar opiniones humanas y rechazar la Ciencia del ser es nuestra mortal ignorancia en cuanto al Espíritu —ignorancia que cede sólo a la comprensión de la Ciencia divina, la comprensión por la cual entramos en el reino de la Verdad en la tierra y aprendemos que el Espíritu es infinito y supremo. El Espíritu y la materia no se mezclan más de lo que se mezclan la luz y las tinieblas. Cuando aparece uno, desaparece el otro.
Rightly understood, instead of possessing a sentient material form, man has a sensationless body; and God, the Soul of man and of all existence, being perpetual in His own individuality, harmony, and immortality, imparts and perpetuates these qualities in man, — through Mind, not matter. The only excuse for entertaining human opinions and rejecting the Science of being is our mortal ignorance of Spirit, — ignorance which yields only to the understanding of divine Science, the understanding by which we enter into the kingdom of Truth on earth and learn that Spirit is infinite and supreme. Spirit and matter no more commingle than light and darkness. When one appears, the other disappears.
La Ciencia revela que el Espíritu, o Alma, no está en el cuerpo y que Dios no está en el hombre, sino que es reflejado por el hombre. Lo mayor no puede estar en lo menor. La creencia que lo mayor pueda estar en lo menor es un error que hace mal. Un punto primordial de la Ciencia del Alma es que el Principio no está en su idea. EL espíritu, el Alma, no está encerrado en el hombre y jamás está en la materia.
Science reveals Spirit, Soul, as not in the body, and God as not in man but as reflected by man. The greater cannot be in the lesser. The belief that the greater can be in the lesser is an error that works ill. This is a leading point in the Science of Soul, that Principle is not in its idea. Spirit, Soul, is not confined in man, and is never in matter.
Siendo el Alma y el Espíritu uno, Dios y el Alma son uno, y ese uno jamás está encerrado en una mente limitada o en un cuerpo limitado… Sólo perdiendo el concepto falso acerca del Alma podemos lograr la revelación eterna de la Vida como inmortalidad sacada a luz.
Soul and Spirit being one, God and Soul are one, and this one never included in a limited mind or a limited body. Spirit is eternal, divine. … Only by losing the false sense of Soul can we gain the eternal unfolding of Life as immortality brought to light.
El hombre es la expresión del Alma.
Man is the expression of Soul.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
