2 ¿Por qué tus discípulos quebrantan la tradición de los ancianos? Porque no se lavan las manos cuando comen pan.
3 Respondiendo él, les dijo: ¿Por qué también vosotros quebrantáis el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición?
10 Y llamando a sí a la multitud, les dijo: Oíd, y entended:

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

Pregunta. — ¿Cuál es la declaración científica del ser?
Respuesta. — No hay vida, verdad, inteligencia ni sustancia en la materia. Todo es Mente infinita y su manifestación infinita, porque Dios es Todo-en-todo. El Espíritu es Verdad inmortal; la materia es error mortal. El Espíritu es lo real y eterno; la materia es lo irreal y temporal. El Espíritu es Dios, y el hombre es Su imagen y semejanza. Por lo tanto el hombre no es material; él es espiritual.
Question. — What is the scientific statement of being?
Answer. — There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.
¿Es el Espíritu el origen o creador de la materia? La Ciencia revela que nada hay en el Espíritu de lo cual crear materia. La metafísica divina explica la inexistencia de la materia. El Espíritu es la única sustancia y la única consciencia reconocidas por la Ciencia divina. Los sentidos materiales se oponen a eso, pero no hay sentidos materiales, porque la materia no tiene mente. En el Espíritu no hay materia, así como en la Verdad no hay error, ni mal en el bien. Es una suposición falsa la noción de que exista verdadera materia-sustancia, lo opuesto del Espíritu. El Espíritu, Dios, es infinito, todo. El Espíritu no puede tener opuesto.
Que la materia sea sustancial, o que tenga vida y sensación, es una de las falsas creencias de los mortales, y solo existe en una supuesta consciencia mortal. Por tanto, a medida que nos acercamos al Espíritu y a la Verdad, dejamos de estar conscientes de la materia. La admisión de que pueda haber sustancia material requiere otra admisión, a saber, que el Espíritu no es infinito y que la materia es autocreadora, autoexistente y eterna.
Todo lo que denominamos pecado, enfermedad y muerte es creencia mortal. Definimos a la materia como error, porque ella es lo opuesto de la vida, sustancia e inteligencia. La materia, con su mortalidad, no puede ser sustancial si el Espíritu es sustancial y eterno. ¿A cuál hemos de considerar sustancia —lo que yerra, cambia y muere, lo mudable y mortal, o lo infalible, inmutable e inmortal?
Is Spirit the source or creator of matter? Science reveals nothing in Spirit out of which to create matter. Divine metaphysics explains away matter. Spirit is the only substance and consciousness recognized by divine Science. The material senses oppose this, but there are no material senses, for matter has no mind. In Spirit there is no matter, even as in Truth there is no error, and in good no evil. It is a false supposition, the notion that there is real substance-matter, the opposite of Spirit. Spirit, God, is infinite, all. Spirit can have no opposite.
That matter is substantial or has life and sensation, is one of the false beliefs of mortals, and exists only in a supposititious mortal consciousness. Hence, as we approach Spirit and Truth, we lose the consciousness of matter. The admission that there can be material substance requires another admission, — namely, that Spirit is not infinite and that matter is self-creative, self-existent, and eternal.
All that we term sin, sickness, and death is a mortal belief. We define matter as error, because it is the opposite of life, substance, and intelligence. Matter, with its mortality, cannot be substantial if Spirit is substantial and eternal. Which ought to be substance to us, — the erring, changing, and dying, the mutable and mortal, or the unerring, immutable, and immortal?
El hombre mortal será menos mortal cuando aprenda que la materia nunca sostuvo a la existencia y que jamás puede destruir a Dios, que es la Vida del hombre. Cuando eso se comprenda, la humanidad será más espiritual y sabrá que nada hay que pueda consumirse, puesto que el Espíritu, Dios, es Todo-en-todo.
Dios es más para un hombre que su creencia, y cuanto menos acreditamos a la materia o sus leyes, tanto más inmortalidad poseemos. La consciencia construye un cuerpo mejor cuando la fe en la materia se ha vencido. Corregid la creencia material con la comprensión espiritual, y el Espíritu os formará de nuevo. Jamás volveréis a tener otro temor que no sea el de ofender a Dios, y jamás creeréis que el corazón o cualquier otra parte del cuerpo os pueda destruir.
Mortal man will be less mortal, when he learns that matter never sustained existence and can never destroy God, who is man's Life. When this is understood, mankind will be more spiritual and know that there is nothing to consume, since Spirit, God, is All-in-all.
God is more to a man than his belief, and the less we acknowledge matter or its laws, the more immortality we possess. Consciousness constructs a better body when faith in matter has been conquered. Correct material belief by spiritual understanding, and Spirit will form you anew. You will never fear again except to offend God, and you will never believe that heart or any portion of the body can destroy you.
Si estamos sensoriamente con el cuerpo, considerando la omnipotencia como una persona material y corpórea cuyo oído quisiéramos ganar, no estamos "ausentes del cuerpo" y "presentes con el Señor"* en la demostración del Espíritu. No podemos "servir a dos señores". Estar "presentes con el Señor" es tener, no meramente fe o éxtasis emotivos, sino la efectiva demostración y comprensión de la Vida, tal como se revela en la Ciencia Cristiana. Estar "con el Señor" significa obedecer la ley de Dios, estar gobernados absolutamente por el Amor divino —por el Espíritu, no por la materia.
Estad conscientes por un solo momento de que la Vida y la inteligencia son puramente espirituales —que no están en la materia ni proceden de ella— y el cuerpo no proferirá entonces ninguna queja. Si estáis sufriendo a causa de una creencia en la enfermedad, os encontraréis bien repentinamente. If we are sensibly with the body and regard omnipotence as a corporeal, material person, whose ear we would gain, we are not "absent from the body" and "present with the Lord" in the demonstration of Spirit. We cannot "serve two masters." To be "present with the Lord" is to have, not mere emotional ecstasy or faith, but the actual demonstration and understanding of Life as revealed in Christian Science. To be "with the Lord" is to be in obedience to the law of God, to be absolutely governed by divine Love, — by Spirit, not by matter.
Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual, — neither in nor of matter, — and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well. Sorrow is turned into joy when the body is controlled by spiritual Life, Truth, and Love.
Para comprender la realidad y el orden del ser en su Ciencia, tenéis que empezar por reconocer que Dios es el Principio divino de todo lo que realmente existe. El Espíritu, la Vida, la Verdad y el Amor se combinan en uno —y son los nombres bíblicos de Dios. Toda sustancia, inteligencia, sabiduría, existencia, inmortalidad, causa y efecto pertenecen a Dios. Ésos son Sus atributos, las eternas manifestaciones del Principio divino e infinito, el Amor. Ninguna sabiduría es sabia, sino Su sabiduría; ninguna verdad es verdadera, sino la Verdad divina; ningún amor es bello, sino el Amor divino; ninguna vida es Vida, sino la divina; ningún bien existe, sino el bien que Dios concede.
La metafísica divina, según es revelada a la comprensión espiritual, demuestra con claridad que todo es Mente y que la Mente es Dios, omnipotencia, omnipresencia, omnisciencia —es decir, todo poder, toda presencia, toda Ciencia. Por lo tanto, todo es, en realidad, la manifestación de la Mente.
La Verdad, discernida espiritualmente, es científicamente comprendida. Echa fuera al error y sana a los enfermos.
To grasp the reality and order of being in its Science, you must begin by reckoning God as the divine Principle of all that really is. Spirit, Life, Truth, Love, combine as one, — and are the Scriptural names for God. All substance, intelligence, wisdom, being, immortality, cause, and effect belong to God. These are His attributes, the eternal manifestations of the infinite divine Principle, Love. No wisdom is wise but His wisdom; no truth is true, no love is lovely, no life is Life but the divine; no good is, but the good God bestows.
Divine metaphysics, as revealed to spiritual understanding, shows clearly that all is Mind, and that Mind is God, omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience, — that is, all power, all presence, all Science. Hence all is in reality the manifestation of Mind.
Truth, spiritually discerned, is scientifically understood. It casts out error and heals the sick.

…truth is not human, and is not a law of matter, for matter is not a lawgiver. Science is an emanation of divine Mind, and is alone able to interpret God aright. It has a spiritual, and not a material origin. It is a divine utterance, — the Comforter which leadeth into all truth.
Somos Científicos Cristianos sólo a medida que dejemos de confiar en lo que es falso y nos aferremos a lo verdadero. No somos Científicos Cristianos hasta que no hayamos dejado todo por Cristo. Las opiniones humanas no son espirituales. Proceden de oídas, de la corporalidad en lugar del Principio, y de lo mortal en lugar de lo inmortal. El Espíritu no está separado de Dios. El Espíritu es Dios.
El poder que yerra es una creencia material, una mal llamada fuerza que es ciega, el producto de la voluntad y no de la sabiduría, de la mente mortal y no de la inmortal.
En la Ciencia no puede existir ningún poder opuesto a Dios, y los sentidos físicos tienen que abandonar su falso testimonio. Vuestra influencia para bien depende del peso que echéis en el platillo correcto de la balanza.
Andamos en los pasos de la Verdad y el Amor al seguir el ejemplo de nuestro Maestro en la comprensión de la metafísica divina. El cristianismo es la base de la curación verdadera. Todo lo que mantenga al pensamiento humano de acuerdo con el amor desinteresado, recibe directamente el poder divino.
We are Christian Scientists, only as we quit our reliance upon that which is false and grasp the true. We are not Christian Scientists until we leave all for Christ. Human opinions are not spiritual. They come from the hearing of the ear, from corporeality instead of from Principle, and from the mortal instead of from the immortal. Spirit is not separate from God. Spirit is God.
Erring power is a material belief, a blind miscalled force, the offspring of will and not of wisdom, of the mortal mind and not of the immortal.
In Science, you can have no power opposed to God, and the physical senses must give up their false testimony. Your influence for good depends upon the weight you throw into the right scale.
We walk in the footsteps of Truth and Love by following the example of our Master in the understanding of divine metaphysics. Christianity is the basis of true healing. Whatever holds human thought in line with unselfed love, receives directly the divine power.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
