19. Si en esta vida solamente esperamos en Cristo, somos los más dignos de conmiseración de todos los hombres.
20. Mas ahora Cristo ha resucitado de los muertos; primicias de los que durmieron es hecho.
21. Porque por cuanto la muerte entró por un hombre, también por un hombre la resurrección de los muertos.
22. Porque así como en Adán todos mueren, también en Cristo todos serán vivificados.
23. Pero cada uno en su debido orden: Cristo, las primicias; luego los que son de Cristo, en su venida.
24. Luego el fin, cuando entregue el reino al Dios y Padre, cuando haya suprimido todo dominio, toda autoridad y potencia.
25. Porque preciso es que él reine hasta que haya puesto a todos sus enemigos debajo de sus pies.
26. Y el postrer enemigo que será destruido es la muerte.
19. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
20. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
24. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
Leccion Sermon
1 Saulo, respirando aún amenazas y muerte contra los discípulos del Señor, vino al sumo sacerdote,
2 y le pidió cartas para las sinagogas de Damasco, a fin de que si hallase algunos hombres o mujeres de este Camino, los trajese presos a Jerusalén.
3 Mas yendo por el camino, aconteció que al llegar cerca de Damasco, repentinamente le rodeó un resplandor de luz del cielo;
4 y cayendo en tierra, oyó una voz que le decía: Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues?
5 Él dijo: ¿Quién eres, Señor? Y le dijo: Yo soy Jesús, a quien tú persigues; dura cosa te es dar coces contra el aguijón.
6 Él, temblando y temeroso, dijo: Señor, ¿qué quieres que yo haga? Y el Señor le dijo: Levántate y entra en la ciudad, y se te dirá lo que debes hacer.
7 Y los hombres que iban con Saulo se pararon atónitos, oyendo a la verdad la voz, mas sin ver a nadie.
8 Entonces Saulo se levantó de tierra, y abriendo los ojos, no veía a nadie; así que, llevándole por la mano, le metieron en Damasco,
9 donde estuvo tres días sin ver, y no comió ni bebió.
10 Había entonces en Damasco un discípulo llamado Ananías, a quien el Señor dijo en visión: Ananías. Y él respondió: Heme aquí, Señor.
11 Y el Señor le dijo: Levántate, y ve a la calle que se llama Derecha, y busca en casa de Judas a uno llamado Saulo, de Tarso; porque he aquí, él ora,
12 y ha visto en visión a un varón llamado Ananías, que entra y le pone las manos encima para que recobre la vista.
13 Entonces Ananías respondió: Señor, he oído de muchos acerca de este hombre, cuántos males ha hecho a tus santos en Jerusalén;
14 y aun aquí tiene autoridad de los principales sacerdotes para prender a todos los que invocan tu nombre.
15 El Señor le dijo: Ve, porque instrumento escogido me es este, para llevar mi nombre en presencia de los gentiles, y de reyes, y de los hijos de Israel;
16 porque yo le mostraré cuánto le es necesario padecer por mi nombre.
17 Fue entonces Ananías y entró en la casa, y poniendo sobre él las manos, dijo: Hermano Saulo, el Señor Jesús, que se te apareció en el camino por donde venías, me ha enviado para que recibas la vista y seas lleno del Espíritu Santo.
18 Y al momento le cayeron de los ojos como escamas, y recibió al instante la vista; y levantándose, fue bautizado.
19 Y habiendo tomado alimento, recobró fuerzas. Y estuvo Saulo por algunos días con los discípulos que estaban en Damasco.
20 En seguida predicaba a Cristo en las sinagogas, diciendo que este era el Hijo de Dios.
21 Y todos los que le oían estaban atónitos, y decían: ¿No es este el que asolaba en Jerusalén a los que invocaban este nombre, y a eso vino acá, para llevarlos presos ante los principales sacerdotes?
22 Pero Saulo mucho más se esforzaba, y confundía a los judíos que moraban en Damasco, demostrando que Jesús era el Cristo.
1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.
8 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
9 And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.
10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.
11 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,
12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.
13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.
17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.
20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?
22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.
19 Así que, arrepentíos y convertíos, para que sean borrados vuestros pecados; para que vengan de la presencia del Señor tiempos de refrigerio,
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
53 Porque es necesario que esto corruptible se vista de incorrupción, y esto mortal se vista de inmortalidad.
54 Y cuando esto corruptible se haya vestido de incorrupción, y esto mortal se haya vestido de inmortalidad, entonces se cumplirá la palabra que está escrita: Sorbida es la muerte en victoria.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1 Así que, hermanos, os ruego por las misericordias de Dios, que presentéis vuestros cuerpos en sacrificio vivo, santo, agradable a Dios, que es vuestro culto racional.
2 No os conforméis a este siglo, sino transformaos por medio de la renovación de vuestro entendimiento, para que comprobéis cuál sea la buena voluntad de Dios, agradable y perfecta.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
7 No os engañéis; Dios no puede ser burlado: pues todo lo que el hombre sembrare, eso también segará.
8 Porque el que siembra para su carne, de la carne segará corrupción; mas el que siembra para el Espíritu, del Espíritu segará vida eterna.
9 No nos cansemos, pues, de hacer bien; porque a su tiempo segaremos, si no desmayamos.
16 Y a todos los que anden conforme a esta regla, paz y misericordia sea a ellos, y al Israel de Dios.
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
7 Porque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio.
8 Por tanto, no te avergüences de dar testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni de mí, preso suyo, sino participa de las aflicciones por el evangelio según el poder de Dios,
9 quien nos salvó y llamó con llamamiento santo, no conforme a nuestras obras, sino según el propósito suyo y la gracia que nos fue dada en Cristo Jesús antes de los tiempos de los siglos,
10 pero que ahora ha sido manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, el cual quitó la muerte y sacó a luz la vida y la inmortalidad por el evangelio,
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
El universo refleja a Dios. No hay más de un creador y una creación. Esa creación consiste en el desarrollo de ideas espirituales y sus identidades, las cuales están comprendidas en la Mente infinita y eternamente reflejadas. Esas ideas se extienden desde lo infinitesimal hasta lo infinito, y las ideas más elevadas son los hijos y las hijas de Dios.
The universe reflects God. There is but one creator and one creation. This creation consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and their identities, which are embraced in the infinite Mind and forever reflected. These ideas range from the infinitesimal to infinity, and the highest ideas are the sons and daughters of God.
…en la Ciencia Cristiana el hombre verdadero está gobernado por Dios —por el bien, no por el mal— y que, por lo tanto, no es un mortal sino un inmortal.
…in Christian Science the true man is governed by God — by good, not evil — and is therefore not a mortal but an immortal.
En la Ciencia divina, el hombre es la imagen verdadera de Dios. La naturaleza divina se expresó de la mejor manera en Cristo Jesús, quien reflejó más exactamente a Dios a los mortales y elevó sus vidas a un nivel más alto que el que les concedían sus pobres modelos de pensamiento — pensamientos que presentaban al hombre como caído, enfermo, pecador y mortal. La comprensión, semejante a la de Cristo, del ser científico y de la curación divina, incluye un Principio perfecto y una idea perfecta —Dios perfecto y hombre perfecto— como base del pensamiento y de la demostración.
In divine Science, man is the true image of God. The divine nature was best expressed in Christ Jesus, who threw upon mortals the truer reflection of God and lifted their lives higher than their poor thought-models would allow, — thoughts which presented man as fallen, sick, sinning, and dying. The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea, — perfect God and perfect man, — as the basis of thought and demonstration.
Las concepciones del pensamiento mortal y errado tienen que someterse al ideal de todo lo que es perfecto y eterno. A través de muchas generaciones las creencias humanas irán obteniendo concepciones más divinas, y se reconocerá finalmente que el modelo perfecto e inmortal de la creación de Dios es la única concepción verdadera del ser.
The conceptions of mortal, erring thought must give way to the ideal of all that is perfect and eternal. Through many generations human beliefs will be attaining diviner conceptions, and the immortal and perfect model of God's creation will finally be seen as the only true conception of being.
Pablo no fue, al comienzo, discípulo de Jesús sino perseguidor de sus seguidores. Cuando la verdad se le apareció por vez primera en la Ciencia, Pablo quedó ciego, y su ceguera se hizo sentir; pero la luz espiritual pronto le capacitó para seguir el ejemplo y las enseñanzas de Jesús, sanando a los enfermos y predicando el cristianismo por toda el Asia Menor, Grecia y hasta en la Roma imperial.
Paul was not at first a disciple of Jesus but a persecutor of Jesus' followers. When the truth first appeared to him in Science, Paul was made blind, and his blindness was felt; but spiritual light soon enabled him to follow the example and teachings of Jesus, healing the sick and preaching Christianity throughout Asia Minor, Greece, and even in imperial Rome.
Saulo de Tarso percibió el camino —el Cristo o la Verdad — sólo cuando su sentido incierto acerca de lo que era justo se sometió a un sentido espiritual, que es siempre justo. Entonces se transformó. Su pensamiento adoptó un punto de vista más noble, y su vida se espiritualizó más. Comprendió el mal que había hecho en perseguir a los cristianos, cuya religión no había comprendido, y en humildad tomó el nuevo nombre de Pablo. Percibió por primera vez la idea verdadera del Amor y aprendió una lección en la Ciencia divina.
Saul of Tarsus beheld the way — the Christ, or Truth — only when his uncertain sense of right yielded to a spiritual sense, which is always right. Then the man was changed. Thought assumed a nobler outlook, and his life became more spiritual. He learned the wrong that he had done in persecuting Christians, whose religion he had not understood, and in humility he took the new name of Paul. He beheld for the first time the true idea of Love, and learned a lesson in divine Science.
Un pecador mortal no es el hombre de Dios. Los mortales son contrahechuras de los inmortales. Son los hijos del maligno, o el único mal, que declara que el hombre comienza en polvo o como embrión material. En la Ciencia divina, Dios y el hombre verdadero son inseparables como Principio divino e idea.
A mortal sinner is not God's man. Mortals are the counterfeits of immortals. They are the children of the wicked one, or the one evil, which declares that man begins in dust or as a material embryo. In divine Science, God and the real man are inseparable as divine Principle and idea.
Por tanto, el hombre no es ni mortal ni material. Los mortales desaparecerán, y los inmortales, o hijos de Dios, aparecerán como las realidades únicas y eternas del hombre.
Aprende eso, oh mortal, y busca seriamente el estado espiritual del hombre, que está fuera de toda entidad material.
Refiriéndose a los hijos de Dios, no a los hijos de los hombres, Jesús dijo: "El reino de Dios está entre vosotros"; esto es, la Verdad y el Amor reinan en el hombre verdadero, mostrando que el hombre a imagen de Dios no ha caído y es eterno. Jesús veía en la Ciencia al hombre perfecto, que aparecía a él donde el hombre mortal y pecador aparece a los mortales. En ese hombre perfecto el Salvador veía la semejanza misma de Dios, y esa manera correcta de ver al hombre sanaba a los enfermos. Así Jesús enseñó que el reino de Dios está intacto, que es universal y que el hombre es puro y santo. El hombre no es una morada material para el Alma; es espiritual él mismo.
Hence man is not mortal nor material. Mortals will disappear, and immortals, or the children of God, will appear as the only and eternal verities of man.
Learn this, O mortal, and earnestly seek the spiritual status of man, which is outside of all material selfhood.
When speaking of God's children, not the children of men, Jesus said, "The kingdom of God is within you;" that is, Truth and Love reign in the real man, showing that man in God's image is unfallen and eternal. Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick. Thus Jesus taught that the kingdom of God is intact, universal, and that man is pure and holy. Man is not a material habitation for Soul; he is himself spiritual.
La individualidad del hombre no es material. Esta Ciencia del ser gobierna no sólo en el más allá, en lo que los hombres llaman Paraíso, sino aquí y ahora; es la gran verdad del ser para el tiempo y la eternidad.
¿Qué es, entonces, la personalidad material que sufre, peca y muere? No es el hombre, quien es la imagen y semejanza de Dios, sino la contrahechura del hombre, la semejanza invertida, la desemejanza llamada pecado, enfermedad y muerte. La irrealidad de la pretensión de que un mortal sea la imagen verdadera de Dios es ilustrada por las naturalezas opuestas del Espíritu y de la materia, de la Mente y del cuerpo, porque la una es inteligencia, mientras que la otra es no-inteligencia.
Man's individuality is not material. This Science of being obtains not alone hereafter in what men call Paradise, but here and now; it is the great fact of being for time and eternity.
What, then, is the material personality which suffers, sins, and dies? It is not man, the image and likeness of God, but man's counterfeit, the inverted likeness, the unlikeness called sin, sickness, and death. The unreality of the claim that a mortal is the true image of God is illustrated by the opposite natures of Spirit and matter, Mind and body, for one is intelligence while the other is non-intelligence.
El hombre real es espiritual e inmortal; pero los llamados "hijos de los hombres", mortales e imperfectos, son contrahechuras desde el comienzo, que habrán de desecharse a cambio de la realidad pura. A medida que los mortales comprendan la Ciencia del hombre y busquen el modelo verdadero, se despojarán de lo mortal y se revestirán del hombre nuevo, u hombre verdadero.
The real man is spiritual and immortal, but the mortal and imperfect so-called "children of men" are counterfeits from the beginning, to be laid aside for the pure reality. This mortal is put off, and the new man or real man is put on, in proportion as mortals realize the Science of man and seek the true model.
El progreso nace de la experiencia. Es la maduración del hombre mortal mediante la cual se abandona lo mortal por lo inmortal. Bien aquí o en el más allá, el sufrimiento o la Ciencia tiene que destruir todas las ilusiones con respecto a la vida y la mente y regenerar el sentido y el yo materiales. Tenemos que despojarnos del viejo hombre con sus hechos. Nada que sea sensual o pecaminoso es inmortal. La muerte de un falso concepto material y la del pecado, no la muerte de la materia orgánica, es lo que revela que el hombre y la Vida son armoniosos, reales y eternos.
Progress is born of experience. It is the ripening of mortal man, through which the mortal is dropped for the immortal. Either here or hereafter, suffering or Science must destroy all illusions regarding life and mind, and regenerate material sense and self. The old man with his deeds must be put off. Nothing sensual or sinful is immortal. The death of a false material sense and of sin, not the death of organic matter, is what reveals man and Life, harmonious, real, and eternal.
Los mortales no son como los inmortales, creados a imagen de Dios; pero siendo el Espíritu infinito todo, la consciencia mortal se someterá finalmente a la realidad científica y desaparecerá, y el verdadero concepto del ser, perfecto y eternamente intacto, aparecerá.
La manifestación de Dios a través de los mortales es como el paso de la luz por el cristal de la ventana. La luz y el cristal nunca se mezclan, pero, como materia, el cristal es menos opaco que las paredes. La mente mortal a través de la cual aparece más claramente la Verdad es aquella que ha perdido mucha materialidad — mucho error— para ofrecer mayor transparencia a la Verdad. Entonces, como una nube que se desvanece en tenue vapor, ya no oculta más al sol.
Mortals are not like immortals, created in God's own image; but infinite Spirit being all, mortal consciousness will at last yield to the scientific fact and disappear, and the real sense of being, perfect and forever intact, will appear.
The manifestation of God through mortals is as light passing through the window-pane. The light and the glass never mingle, but as matter, the glass is less opaque than the walls. The mortal mind through which Truth appears most vividly is that one which has lost much materiality — much error — in order to become a better transparency for Truth. Then, like a cloud melting into thin vapor, it no longer hides the sun.
La gran verdad en la Ciencia del ser de que el hombre real fue, es y siempre será perfecto, es incontrovertible; porque si el hombre es la imagen, el reflejo, de Dios, no es ni invertido ni subvertido, sino recto y semejante a Dios.
The great truth in the Science of being, that the real man was, is, and ever shall be perfect, is incontrovertible; for if man is the image, reflection, of God, he is neither inverted nor subverted, but upright and Godlike.
La Ciencia revela las gloriosas posibilidades del hombre inmortal, jamás limitado por los sentidos mortales.
Science reveals the glorious possibilities of immortal man, forever unlimited by the mortal senses.

Será deber de cada miembro de esta Iglesia orar diariamente: "Venga Tu reino"; haz que el reino de la Verdad, la Vida y el Amor divinos se establezca en mí, y quita de mí todo pecado; ¡y que Tu Palabra fecunde los afectos de toda la humanidad, y los gobierne!
Ni la animosidad ni el mero afecto personal deben impulsar los móviles o actos de los miembros de La Iglesia Madre. En la Ciencia, sólo el Amor divino gobierna al hombre, y el Científico Cristiano refleja la dulce amenidad del Amor al reprender el pecado, al expresar verdadera confraternidad, caridad y perdón. Los miembros de esta Iglesia deben velar y orar diariamente para ser liberados de todo mal, de profetizar, juzgar, condenar, aconsejar, influir o ser influidos erróneamente.
Será deber de todo miembro de esta Iglesia defenderse a diario de toda sugestión mental agresiva, y no dejarse inducir a olvido o negligencia en cuanto a su deber para con Dios, para con su Guía y para con la humanidad. Por sus obras será juzgado, — y justificado o condenado.
